🚀 NASA Successfully Demonstrates Space-to-Space Wi-Fi in Orbit

NASA’s R5-S10 CubeSat successfully connected wirelessly with Momentus’ Vigoride-7 orbital vehicle using technology developed by Solstar Space.

During a 30-minute demonstration, the mission collected over 2,300 files, including optical images, infrared observations and LiDAR data. Some of the data was transmitted between spacecraft and relayed to NASA’s Johnson Space Center via Iridium’s satellite network.

The demonstration advances technology needed for autonomous satellite inspections, in-orbit servicing and spacecraft assembly, where multiple vehicles must communicate and coordinate without constant ground intervention.

The mission took place in September, with Solstar announcing the communications results this week.

🇮🇱 Bank of Israel Slams Netanyahu’s Anti-Sanctions Crypto Proposal

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu floated using cryptocurrency to get around potential financial sanctions on Israel, prompting a strongly-worded rebuke from the central bank.

“Cryptocurrencies cannot serve as a means of circumventing sanctions on Israel,” — the Bank of Israel said in a statement Saturday.

“The right course for Israel’s economy is to preserve economic relations with our main trading partners and focus on preventing sanctions and their negative impact on the economy.”

🇺🇸 Trump Defends Tariffs at Rally as He Touts New US Audi Plant

President Donald Trump defended his decision to wield tariffs during a campaign rally in Georgia, saying they’ve made the US richer as he announced that Volkswagen AG agreed to build a new $4.2 billion Audi plant in the state.

“Think of that. 200,000 cars a year. That’s incredible,” — Trump told a crowd in the city of Perry.

“This will be the single largest investment in U.S. auto industry history, modern history.”

⚔️ China Hits Back at US Proposal to Tighten Investment Limits

China said it “firmly opposes” a US Treasury proposal to expand the scope and increase the severity of restrictions on US investment in China, calling it discriminatory and “a typical example of an overly broad application of national security concerns.” Beijing will closely monitor developments and reserves the right to take corresponding measures, it said.

The Ministry of Commerce said the proposed restrictions run counter to the “important consensus” reached by the two countries’ presidents, and would hurt bilateral economic and trade cooperation and US companies’ interests.

🧠 Neural chip decodes interactions between brain regions

EPFL neurotech lab in Switzerland develops "LogSync," an implantable brain chip that measures how different parts of the brain communicate with each other.

LogSync records brain signals, measures the strength of brain waves and how well signals from different areas stay in sync, then uses a machine-learning program to recognize certain thinking or emotional states and send stimulation only when those states appear.

“Our work is based on the growing body of research suggesting that psychiatric disorders arise more from disruptions in communication between brain regions than from dysfunction of any single region,” — says Mahsa Shoaran, who leads the Integrated Neurotechnologies Lab at EPFL.

The work, published in the IEEE Journal of Solid-State Circuits, was supported by a CHF 6.6 million grant from the US National Institute of Mental Health.

🗣Block’s new voice model sounds eerily human

Jack Dorsey’s Block
released a new voice model out of the company’s research lab that runs locally and sounds strangely human with its expressions like laughs, pauses, and cries. The company said the model, called Dessa, is trained fully on human speech and a single NVIDIA GPU rack.

“We believe voice is the most natural way to interact with intelligence, so we created Dessa, the most authentic full-duplex speech model ever built. Talking with it feels like talking with a person…full of emotion, nuance, pauses, and a natural cadence,” — Jack Dorsey said.

🇱🇻 Latvia targets tokenization rules in 2027 with commercial property in focus

Latvia could have rules for tokenizing RWAs in place in the first half of 2027, with commercial property as a possible starting point and government bonds on the list as well.

Economics Minister Viktors Valainis said he expected the work to remain on the agenda of the next government as Latvia forms a new administration. His ministry is working with the central bank, the Finance Ministry and industry representatives on a framework intended to attract investment.

“If everything goes smoothly, I think next year, first half of the next year, we will already have the regulation,” — he said.

He also hopes to promote new products and opportunities linked to the cryptocurrency industry early in 2027.

🤖 Unitree Founder Now Expects Robots Breakthrough as Soon as 2028

The founder of Unitree Robotics now expects a breakthrough in humanoids in as little as two years, a reversal for a Chinese entrepreneur who once predicted intelligent machines would take as long as decade to go mainstream.

Wang Xingxing, one of the country’s most celebrated tech leaders, who created the nation’s biggest humanoid manufacturer a decade ago now predicts that, as soon as 2028, the machines can complete 80% of assigned tasks in the factory or home after receiving verbal orders — an arbitrary threshold he defines as the “aha” moment for practical robotic applications.

🤖 These Mini Power Plants Aim to Make Green Fuel, Using the Air Around Them

On a quiet industrial estate, engineers at British startup Rivan Industries are working to perfect a system to produce synthetic natural gas from water, sunlight and air.

Their work involves splitting hydrogen from water and capturing carbon-dioxide directly from the air, then combining the two gases to make green methane, a cleaner substitute for natural gas, the source of energy for around a quarter of European households. The entire process takes place in a modular unit, a sort of self-contained mini-power plant, powered by solar energy and that Rivan plans to mass produce.

🤖 Scientists Just Cracked a Quantum Mystery That's Puzzled Physicists For Decades

The Kondo effect is one of the most important in quantum physics, describing the strange interference that magnetic atoms can have in metals.

Usually, as metals cool, they become better at conducting electricity, because the reduction in energy means electrons can flow more smoothly. Add in a magnetic atom or two, though, and below a certain temperature (the Kondo temperature), electrical resistance starts to rise again.

But in a physics first, researchers from the California Institute of Technology (Caltech) and Yale University in the US have managed to precisely quantify the effect in a real material via fundamental physics calculations.

📄 The work, published in Science, represents a significant step forward. Previously, scientists had to use real-world experiments and simplified models to pin down the Kondo effect, without getting predictions as precise as the new method.

"We are in an exciting era in which faithful predictive quantum descriptions of the full chemical complexity of real materials are coming within reach," — says chemist Linqing Peng, from Caltech.

💊 California startup says it has injected AI-designed virus into humans

An AI research lab Radical Numerics in California has administered a custom AI-designed virus into a human patient for the first time as a potential scalable solution to counter antibiotic-resistant superbugs.

If verified, the treatment, named Omnii-1, could mark the first time AI-designed bacteriophages have been administered to a human patient. These phages are viruses that specifically infect bacteria. Antibiotic-resistant superbugs are projected to cause nearly 40 million deaths by 2050.

Radical Numerics claims that their AI-driven approach can lead to rapid, on-demand generation of phages that meet patient requirements, accelerating the timeline for treatment.

“This milestone marks an early step toward translating AI-guided genome design into personalised therapies,” — Radical Numerics said.
