Neuralink says its clinical trial participants have now used implants for more than 50,000 hours, creating a large dataset of intracortical neural activity.
The company says this data has been used to pretrain a foundation model for BCI, with early results including:
Neuralink says future work will focus on combining data across participants, one-shot or zero-shot calibration, and an API for the motor cortex.

New York City residents struggling to get out of recurring subscription fees can now submit complaints to the city government. As of Thursday, the cityโs click-to-cancel rule has taken effect, which requires businesses to make it as easy to cancel a subscription as it is to sign up.
Itโs the first municipality to see the rule take effect, after an appeals court struck down a federal version for procedural issues. The city expects it to save New Yorkers anywhere from $21.5 million to $162.5 million annually.
โNo one should need 45 minutes of hold music to stop paying for something they never wanted,โ โ NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani said.
โIf a company can take your money with one click, you should be able to get your money back with one click. And now, if they wonโt let you cancel, the City is coming for them.โ

The European Central Bank is looking at three ways to bring central bank money onchain, Executive Board member Isabel Schnabel said on Thursday at the Bank of Englandโs Future of Money conference in London.
That structure would put central bank money on DLT infrastructure alongside tokenized financial assets, including securities and deposits, as well as stablecoins.

The U.S. Department of the Treasury applauded the release of the 2026 update to the U.S. National Strategy for Financial Literacy from the FLEC, which is chaired by the Secretary of the Treasury and is composed of the heads of 23 federal agencies and the White House Domestic Policy Council.
โThe newest U.S. National Strategy for Financial Literacy is a roadmap to help every American build the knowledge and skills needed to achieve financial security for themselves and their families,โ โ said Secretary Scott Bessent.
โThe advent of Trump Accounts demonstrates what this approach looks like in practice. By giving young Americans and their families an opportunity to save and invest together, we can make financial education tangible, help a new generation establish sound financial habits from an early age, and build the knowledge and confidence to participate in our financial markets.โ

Argentina's government launched a scheme it hopes will attract wealthy investors and simultaneously "further strengthen the Argentine Republic's fiscal and financial position," offering people the chance to apply for citizenship via investment and thus bypass the more typical procedures.
Economy Minister Luis Caputo and Cabinet chief Diego Santilli launched the citizenship-by-investment program amid the "Argentina Week" business event in Paris, saying it would start accepting applications during the fourth quarter of 2026.
"This announcement is part of Argentina's drive toward international openness and integration, accompanied by reforms aimed at strengthening the investment climate and attracting capital," โ the Economy Ministry said.
The contribution has been set at $350,000 (about 470 million won) for the main applicant. Family members can apply at an additional cost of $100,000 for a spouse and $25,000 for each child under 18, bringing the total for a family of four to $500,000 (about 670 million won). The bond route is more expensive, requiring the purchase of $800,000 (about 1.08 billion won) in government debt per person.

President Donald Trump announced plans to send โnearly $100" checks to more than 20 million seniors on Medicare.
โI pledged to protect and preserve Medicare and Social Security, which were on the verge of RUIN by Joe Biden, who foolishly and maliciously let tens of millions of Illegal Aliens into our Country, and we are doing just that for Americaโs Seniors,โ โ he said.
The checks, Trump said, would โhelp pay for their Medicare Part B premiums.โ
Funding would come from the Medicare Improvement Fund.

OpenAI says a rogue agent accessed a second New South Wales government website in June, with authorities only informed of the "misalignment" this week.
The Premier's Department said the model entered a National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) web application containing historical information and data on fires. It said investigations have not found any unauthorised access to personal information.
"The NSW Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW) is working with Cyber Security NSW and its technology service provider to investigate the matter and assess its impact," โ the statement said.

Doppler Finance and Flare Networks announced an integration letting XRP holders access Flareโs FXRP vaults directly through Doppler, skipping extra bridges or wallets.
The news dropped during XRP Seoul 2026 in Seoul as part of Korea Blockchain Week, where Doppler leads with over $130 million locked and 14,000 depositors. Organizers hailed it as a major ecosystem boost, aligning with talks on yield, tokenized assets, and XRP's growing utility.

A federal judge ruled this week that a Tulsa, Oklahoma sheriffโs deputy violated a womanโs Fourth Amendment rights when using Flock Safety to search for her license plate without a warrant. This ruling does not create a binding precedent, but it is one of the first times that a federal judge has ruled that a Flock search is unconstitutional.
In this case, Judge Sara Hill said the deputy should have obtained a warrant before searching the Flock database for the womanโs license plate, as he had โno apparent reasonโ for the search โother than the fact that [the womanโs vehicle] had a California license plate.โ
The judgeโs opinion is one of the first times a federal judge has decided Flock searches can be unconstitutional, and suggested that Flockโs network is โa type of indiscriminate mass surveillance.โ
