๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ›ฐ Europeโ€™s Top Carriers in Talks for Satellite-to-Mobile Venture

A group of Europeโ€™s biggest mobile operators are in early talks to create a consortium to bid on satellite spectrum and offer direct-to-mobile service, which would rival Elon Muskโ€™s Starlink service on the continent.

Deutsche Telekom AG, Orange SA, Vodafone Group Plc and Telefonica SA would jointly bid for a share of airwaves that the European Union has proposed reserving for a local operator, a plan aimed at increasing sovereign satellite capabilities. No final decisions on the consortium or plans to bid have been made.

๐Ÿ’Š AI-Discovered Drug Reverses Aging Markers in Study

Insilico Medicine, a clinical-stage company focused on generative AI-driven drug discovery and development, announced the publication of a new study conducted in collaboration with an international team of scientists from Harvard Medical School, Stanford University, The Broad Institute, RWTH Aachen University, Peking University and Westlake University.

๐Ÿ“ Using longitudinal Olink proteomic data (CNCB OMIX accession: OMIX008341) collected during a Phase IIa clinical trial of rentosertib, researchers evaluated biological age using 6 internationally recognized, independently developed proteomic aging clocks.

๐Ÿ”œ All 6 models consistently indicated a reduction in predicted biological age among patients treated with rentosertib. In addition, the Forced Vital Capacity (FVC), the essential measure of lung function declining with age, showed promising dose-dependent reversal compared to placebo aligning with the proteomic aging clock age reversal.

โ—๏ธRecently published in Nature Biotechnology, the study represents the first clinical evaluation of a potentially first-in-class drug candidate featuring both an AI-discovered target with relevance to aging and disease biology and an AI-designed molecule, rather than a repurposed generic drug such as rapamycin or metformin.

The findings also provide a proof-of-concept framework for integrating aging biomarkers into standard clinical trials to accelerate the discovery of geroprotective drugs and longevity therapeutics. ๐Ÿš€

The results will be presented by first author Alex Zhavoronkov, founder and CEO of Insilico Medicine, at the Nature conference: Redefining Healthcare in the Age of AI, to be held at Sorbonne University in Paris on September 8, 2026.

๐Ÿ‡ฉ๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿค– Meet JION: Trapped-ion quantum computer for hybrid quantum-HPC computations

Forschungszentrum Jรผlich and Siegen-based start-up eleQtron have officially inaugurated the quantum computer JION. It will be made available to research institutions and industry through the JUNIQ user infrastructure, enabling hybrid computations with Jรผlichโ€™s supercomputers. NRW Minister-President Hendrik Wรผst and NRW Science Minister Ina Brandes hailed JION as a technological milestone.

JION (โ€œJรผlich trapped-ION quantum computerโ€
) is a digital, gate-based trapped-ion quantum computer. Its qubits consist of ionized ytterbium atoms, which are held in a vacuum by electromagnetic fields and precisely controlled for computations. Unlike superconducting systems, the quantum processor does not need to be operated at temperatures close to absolute zero.

To control the qubits, JION utilizes the magnetic gradient induced coupling (MAGIC) technology developed in Siegen. Microwaves and deliberately generated variations in the magnetic field allow the qubits to be controlled individually and connected directly to one another. This simplifies control and could facilitate the development of larger, more powerful quantum systems in the future.

๐Ÿค– AI may soon allow humans to talk with animals โ€” but some say it could violate their right to privacy

Advancements in AI may soon allow humans to talk with animals, but some groups claim the research could be violating the animalsโ€™ right to privacy. Machine learning models are paving the way to catalogue and even mimic the sounds animals make to communicate with each other, with researchers touting the technology as a way to better understand the world of animals.

But โ€œone risk that is currently not taken into account in research ethics is the concern that we might be violating the privacy of animals by collecting data on their vocalizations and movements,โ€ according to researchers in an article published in Springer Nature.

โ€œAn interest in privacy is an interest in controlling how you appear to others, and the complex social lives of many nonhuman animals offer strong support for thinking animals have this interest.โ€

The ability to โ€œspeakโ€ with animals also could pose dangers to the natural world, experts said. The controversy involves a technique known as โ€œplayback,โ€ which is the practice of broadcasting recorded animal calls in the wild.

โšก๏ธ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ณ India Eyes AI for Next Finance Leap After Digital Payments Boom

India spent the past decade transforming how money moves, with its home-grown real-time payments system changing the way millions of people pay. Now, it is preparing for a bigger leap as AI reshapes finance.

AI could take Indiaโ€™s financial system beyond simply processing transactions, helping assess borrowers, detect fraud, tailor financial products and eventually make payments on behalf of consumers. But giving machines such a big role increases risks of bias, fraud, cybersecurity, data privacy and accountability.

Those questions will take center stage at the annual Global Fintech Fest in Mumbai, where policymakers, bankers, technology companies and fintech founders will gather to debate what comes after the Unified Payments Interface, which unleashed a digital-payments revolution.

The conference, running from Sept. 8-11, will evaluate the potential impact of agentic AI, alongside tokenization and quantum technology. ๐Ÿš€

โšก๏ธ๐Ÿ’ฐ Visa is expanding data offering for blockchain lenders as demand for stablecoin-linked cards surges

Visa will pair its settlement data with onchain lending infrastructure, giving lenders greater insight into the financial performance of digital asset-focused fintech firms and card issuers. The program aims to speed up borrowing for these businesses as they grow rapidly.

โ—๏ธVisa currently operates more than 160 stablecoin-linked card programs for issuers and program managers, a nearly 200% increase year over year as more crypto businesses launch cards for customers.

โ€œStablecoin-linked cards are in hypergrowth mode,โ€ โ€” Cuy Sheffield, head of crypto at Visa.

๐Ÿ”œ He said there are new issuers, including stablecoin neobanks and fintech firms, joining the network and launching cards every week.

๐Ÿ”œ To meet the demand surge and need for capital, the company is establishing partnerships to allow new issuers access to financing programs through smart contracts and onchain credit.

โ€œWeโ€™ve been running a pilot with a company called Credit Coop that is enabling a credit facility for stablecoin-linked card providers, which we think is a positive step forward for how onchain credit can start to come into our network,โ€ โ€” Sheffield said.

โšก๏ธ๐Ÿงฌ AlphaGenome Atlas: A predictive map of every possible DNA letter change in the human genome

Google DeepMind is introducing AlphaGenome Atlas: a platform containing predictions for the effects of 9 billion single-nucleotide variants โ€” every single-letter change possible โ€” in the human genome. It is the most comprehensive catalogue of how genetic mutations affect molecular biology, and it is available for academic research through an intuitive and free-to-use website portal.

DNA is the language of life. Mastering it is a grand challenge that could transform our ability to understand biology and treat disease. But progress has been limited by a fundamental problem: interpreting how genetic variations impact biology at a molecular level. With roughly 9 billion possible single-letter mutations in the human genome, testing each one in the lab is practically impossible.

Google DeepMind has already made progress on this challenge with AlphaGenome, an AI model that can predict how genetic variants impact biological processes. AlphaGenome is helpful for analyzing specific variants and has found widespread use in research.

๐Ÿค‘ Pyth Pro and Pyth Indices Bring 24/7 Pricing to Stellarโ€™s $4B RWA Ecosystem

Stellar now hosts more than $4 billion in tokenized RWAs. Those assets move on infrastructure that stays online around the clock. The markets they represent often do not.

โ—๏ธThat creates a specific pricing problem. A tokenized asset can remain transferable onchain while the underlying cash market is closed. Applications still need a price to value collateral, manage risk, account for vaults, and support trading.

โšก๏ธPyth Pro and Pyth Indices are now live on Stellar:

๐Ÿ”˜Pyth Indices extend pricing beyond the sessions of the underlying market, while Pyth Pro gives builders access to low-latency market data across asset classes.

๐Ÿ”˜Pyth Indices are constructed products that provide 24/7 pricing for assets whose underlying markets follow exchange hours. The catalog includes indices for Brent, natural gas, copper, and oil, alongside single-name equity indices for AAPL, NVDA, TSLA, MSTR, GOOGL, MSFT, MU, and SPCX.

On Stellar, a perpetuals market or vault can continue marking equity-linked and commodity exposure through weekends and holidays, when the cash market is closed. Collateral values, risk controls, and portfolio accounting can continue updating instead of waiting for the next session open. ๐Ÿš€
