🏦🇷🇺 Russia’s Central Bank unveils the digital ruble logo and explains how to start using it

Starting September 1, major banks and retail companies will open their infrastructure for digital ruble transactions. From that date, individuals and businesses will be able to use the digital ruble as a new form of the national currency if they choose to.

🟠Individuals and companies will have one digital ruble account each, while sole proprietors will have two: one personal account and one for business purposes.

🟠Individuals will be able to transfer up to 300,000 rubles per month from their bank accounts into their digital ruble wallets. There will be no top-up limit for businesses. Once funds are in the digital wallet, both individuals and companies will be able to use them without restrictions.

🟠The digital ruble will support transfers between individuals and businesses, payments to and from the government, purchases, and refunds.

❗️For individuals, all digital ruble payments and transfers will be free. Businesses will also pay no fees until the end of 2026. Starting in 2027, fees for companies and sole proprietors will apply, but they are expected to be among the lowest in the payments market.

💊 FDA Approves First Drug of Its Kind for Polycythemia Vera, a Rare Blood Disorder

The FDA approved Mimrylo (rusfertide), a new treatment for adults with polycythemia vera, a rare blood disorder that causes the body to make too many red blood cells. The excess cells can thicken the blood and increase the risk of cardiovascular issues, such as blood clots, stroke and heart attack.

Mimrylo offers a new treatment approach for patients whose disease has not been adequately controlled with existing therapies. It is the first approved treatment for polycythemia vera that mimics hepcidin, a hormone that naturally regulates iron in the body.

By limiting the iron available to make new red blood cells, Mimrylo helps reduce their overproduction and keep red blood cell levels under control. This novel approach offers a new option for patients who have not achieved adequate control with existing therapies.

🇷🇺🏦 Russia's largest bank forecasts $46 billion in first-year crypto exchange trading under new rules

Sberbank, Russia's largest lender, said the country's regulated crypto trading volume on exchanges may reach 4 trillion rubles ($46.4 billion) in the first year after crypto laws take effect on Sept. 1.

Anatoly Popov, Sberbank's deputy chairman, said that such crypto trading volume could grow to roughly 7.5 trillion rubles ($87.1 billion) by 2029.

❗️Popov said the bank plans to issue loans secured by bitcoin, ether and USDT once they are approved by the central bank.

"We prepared for this in advance, and we already have practical experience working with cryptocurrency. As soon as the law comes into full force, we will adapt Sber’s existing products to the new requirements and begin consistently expanding their lineup," — said Popov.

"We will be able to expand the list immediately after all provisions of the new regulation come into force." 🚀

The bank reportedly plans to launch a crypto wallet in its Sber and Sber Investments apps alongside a digital asset depository by early December.

🧑‍⚖️ FTC sues Amazon, accusing the e-commerce giant of misleading advertisers

The FЕС sued Amazon, alleging the e-commerce giant “secretly and systematically overcharged” advertisers on its platform by manipulating its pricing and auction systems. The lawsuit, which was joined by 22 state attorneys general, argues that Amazon may have reaped more than $20 billion from advertisers by using “hidden surcharges” dating back to a change to its auction rules that took effect in 2019.

“Amazon has millions of advertising customers who were misled into paying significantly higher prices,” — FTC Chairman Andrew Ferguson said. “These higher costs were largely passed on to American consumers.

🤑 Ripple and SettleMint partner to provide digital asset custody and tokenization for financial institutions in Asia Pacific

Ripple and SettleMint, a global leader in Digital Asset Lifecycle Management, have announced a strategic partnership offering regulated financial institutions a unified solution to custody, issue, and manage tokenized assets across their full lifecycle.

❗️The partnership integrates Ripple Custody and SettleMint’s DALP (Digital Asset Lifecycle Platform). Ripple and SettleMint have already commenced their partnership offering in Asia and plan to extend this to other markets as institutional demand develops.

The integration of digital assets and tokenized financial products has become essential for the future of banking and the traditional financial sector. In Boston Consulting Group's report, "The Future of Digital Assets," published in May 2026, the firm identifies the shift toward digital assets as a fundamental restructuring of financial infrastructure, projecting that tokenized RWAs could reach $88 trillion by 2035. 💸

"Global capital markets are moving fully on-chain, and that shift only works when digital asset custody and lifecycle management operate as one system rather than two," — said Adam Popat, CEO of SettleMint.

"Combining Ripple Custody and DALP gives institutions that single foundation, and this partnership lets us bring it to regulated markets globally." 🤝

🏦 Citi, Goldman, other global banks and asset managers team up on stablecoin venture

A group of 21 financial institutions, including Bank of America, Citi, Goldman Sachs and UBS, plans to form a company that will issue stablecoins for payments and digital asset transactions. The company, which is yet to be named, is expected to be established in the second half of the year, subject to closing conditions.

❗️The venture plans to start with a U.S. dollar-denominated stablecoin and bring the product to market in the first half of 2027. It aims to add stablecoins tied to other Group of Seven currencies later, with a euro-denominated token being a priority.

The project grew from an initiative announced in October 2025, when 10 banks said they were exploring a digital payment asset backed one-for-one by reserves and available on public blockchains.

Participants now span North America, Europe, East Asia, the Middle East and Africa. They include Wells Fargo, Deutsche Bank, Santander, Fidelity Investments, MUFG Bank and Standard Bank, alongside other banks and investment firms.

🧑‍⚖️ California lawmakers unanimously pass Linux exemption from age-verification law

California’s legislature has passed Assembly Bill 1856, exempting open-source operating systems from the State’s Digital Age Assurance Act months before the law is due to take effect on January 1, 2027. The Senate amended the Bill on August 21 before passing it on the 26th in a 39-0 vote, with the Assembly then accepting these changes in a concurrence vote the following day.

The amendment ends almost a year of uncertainty surrounding whether Linux distributions and SteamOS would be forced to collect user age data during account setup alongside Windows, macOS, iOS, and Android. AB 1856 has now been sent to Governor Gavin Newsom, who signed the original act into law last October.

💊 ChatGPT Health adds Epic integration for clinicians to import patient data

OpenAI is integrating ChatGPT Health with Epic’s electronic health record (EHR) system, which holds data for over 325 million patients, to let clinicians import patient data and use AI to ask questions. The company said that in certain systems, it will also integrate ChatGPT directly within EHR workflows.

With ChatGPT, clinicians can now access information like appointment notes, laboratory results, medications, and specialist documentation and summarize them easily. They can also look at patient history, identify changes, and prepare for future appointments.

OpenAI said that in some deployments, clinicians can directly access ChatGPT for getting pre-visit review and building clinical timelines without leaving a patient chart. The company specified that the integration allows only read-only access to health records, and AI doesn’t write anything back.
