🇺🇸 White House S&T strategy calls for new approaches to safeguard US research

The Trump administration says the nation’s science and technology research ecosystem needs to embrace “novel security solutions” to ensure the U.S. maintains its global edge, according to a new document publicly released on Monday.

📝 The National Security Science and Technology Strategy published by the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy outlines how the U.S. innovation sector should be leveraged and guarded to defend the country.

🟠The strategy says research institutions need to take further steps to enhance their threat awareness, including conducting “automated research security vetting” of agency-funded research proposals and performing continuous monitoring of federally-supported projects.

🟠It also calls for “bolstering counter-intelligence support to governmental and non-governmental research centers.

It noted, for instance, that the FBI-led Quantum Information Science and Technology Counterintelligence Protection Team “brings an interagency team of quantum experts and security professionals to fine-tune technology protection and security outreach activities for the quickly evolving quantum R&D community.” 🤖

“The United States will further strengthen its workforce by attracting and retaining top-tier global talent in critical national security S&T fields,” — the strategy says.

“Agencies will collaborate on using existing authorities to recruit the exquisite talent necessary to ensure the national security S&T Enterprise leads the world in developing and applying these technologies.” 🚀

🇮🇳 SEBI Details India’s Quantum Strategy, Keeps Tokenization Pilot on Agenda

The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has set out a detailed strategy to prepare India’s securities market for the risks that quantum computing poses to financial cryptography, according to its Annual Report for 2025-26.

📝 The report’s most substantial new technology disclosure concerns quantum resilience. SEBI has issued directions requiring its regulated entities (REs) to take five specific steps:

→ maintain a comprehensive cryptographic asset inventory;
→ assess post-quantum cryptography (PQC) and quantum key distribution;
→ enhance “cryptographic agility”;
→ continuously monitor the ecosystem;
→ and develop transition roadmaps alongside workforce upskilling.

🧱 SEBI described its own internal transition as following a three-phase approach it labels “discover, observe, and transform.”

📌 On tokenization, the annual report largely formalizes an initiative already in motion rather than announcing a new one. In the Chairman’s Statement, SEBI lists a pilot project on the tokenization of corporate bonds using distributed ledger technology (DLT) among its priorities for 2026-27.

🎯 SEBI Chairman Tuhin Kanta Pandey first announced this pilot at the CareEdge Debt Market Summit, describing it as an early-stage effort to test whether DLT-based tokenization could deliver faster settlement, greater transparency, and improved liquidity in the corporate bond market, on a timeline he then estimated at 6 to 9 months.

🤖 Unitree’s new “Superman” robot reportedly beats human standing-jump and running-speed records.

Unitree has released a video of its newest humanoid robot claiming a top speed of 12.66 metres per second and a two metre vertical jump, both achieved inside a three month development window. That speed figure, which the company ties to a leg length of 0.85 metres, would put the machine past Usain Bolt's fastest recorded instant of roughly 12.3 metres per second. 🤯

🤑 Ripple and Jeonbuk Bank Partner to Modernize Cross-border Payments for Korea’s Regional Banking Sector

Ripple announced a partnership with Jeonbuk Bank, making it the first regional bank in Korea to deploy Ripple Payments for cross-border remittances, bringing near real-time settlement to businesses that have historically relied on transfers taking days to complete.

Traditional bank transfers pass through multiple intermediary banks via the SWIFT network and can take days to process. Ripple Payments replaces this with near real-time settlement, completing in seconds to minutes, and operating 24/7.

Jeonbuk Bank can now offer faster, more transparent, and cost-effective remittance services to its global business customers, including import-export companies, IT startups, and online content creators. 🚀

"As the first regional bank in Korea to deploy Ripple Payments, Jeonbuk Bank is extending near real-time cross-border settlement directly to the businesses it serves, and this is a meaningful step for Korea's broader financial ecosystem," — Fiona Murray, Managing Director, Asia Pacific at Ripple said.

⚡️🏦 Citi plans to launch bitcoin custody later this year, allowing institutional clients to hold BTC alongside traditional assets

The bank’s institutional infrastructure arm announced the launch of Custody+, a suite of services designed to make custody, settlement, foreign exchange and cash management faster. The service will start with BTC and give clients access to traditional and crypto custody through the same framework.

Citi's custody operation serves clients in more than 100 markets, including 62 markets where it runs its own custody network. By adding bitcoin custody, those clients could keep their bitcoin with the same bank that holds their stocks and bonds, making it easier for some institutions to invest in bitcoin without using a separate crypto custodian.

The bank has rolled out new technology in the U.S. that processes many custody-related tasks through one system instead of passing them through several steps.

🤖 Rain Launches the Agentic Payments Alliance to Guide the Future of Agent-Driven Commerce

Rain, the enterprise-grade infrastructure for stablecoin-powered payments, announced the launch of the Agentic Payments Alliance (APA), a coalition of organizations working together to help guide the development of agentic commerce. Founding members include Visa, Mastercard, Fiserv, Circle, Solana, and Remitly.

❗️By 2030, McKinsey projects between $3 trillion and $5 trillion in global agentic commerce. Much of the infrastructure that activity will depend on, including how agents get authorized, how fraud gets caught, and how loyalty and rewards travel with an agent, is still being defined.

The Alliance itself is a working coalition, run collectively by its founding members. Early work is expected to include shared research and frameworks, testing emerging standards for agent identity and authorization, and advocacy on the regulatory questions agentic commerce raises.

26 founding members across payments, stablecoins, and AI, working together to shape how agent-driven commerce gets built. 🚀
