Connected devices routinely send information back to the router to help optimize wireless communication. These signals, known as beamforming feedback information (BFI), are transmitted without encryption, meaning that anyone within range can potentially read them.
By analyzing that information, the system can generate images of people from multiple viewpoints. Those images can then be used to determine a person's identity. Once the machine learning model has already been trained to recognize individuals, the identification process takes only a few seconds.
"The technology is powerful, but at the same time entails risks to our fundamental rights, especially to privacy," — says Professor Thorsten Strufe from KASTEL, KIT's Institute of Information Security and Dependability.

The U.S. Space Force awarded $60 million to five companies to demonstrate how satellites from multiple vendors can connect to its Space Data Network, a military communications architecture whose core backbone is being supplied by SpaceX.
Amazon LEO for Government, Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, Rocket Lab and York Space Systems each received $12 million in contracts and prototype agreements. The work will test connections between commercial satellite systems and the Space Data Network, or SDN, including on-orbit data transport and standardized interfaces that would allow different providers to operate across the same network.
“By investing in standardized interfaces, we are creating a clear runway for any capable and innovative company to come in and compete,” — Col. Ryan Frazier, acting portfolio acquisition executive for Space Based Sensing and Targeting, said.

The Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador managed to boost the value of a new 50-year electricity supply agreement with Hydro-Quebec, likely ending a long-running dispute with the province of Quebec. The C$49.3 billion ($35.5 billion) deal, on a net present value basis, if it materializes, could become the largest clean energy investment in North American history, according to the Canadian government.

⚡️🧑⚖️ U.S. Treasury Department proposes GENIUS Act stablecoin rule
The U.S. Department of the Treasury has taken another big step toward implementing the new stablecoin law, proposing federal definitions on what it means to issue U.S. stablecoins and who needs to follow the rules set out in the GENIUS Act, even as the law's deadlines are fast approaching.
🟠 The department is among several government entities and agencies that must put rules in place before the stablecoin industry's U.S. law is in full effect, also including the banking and markets regulators.
The proposal said the department tried to treat stablecoins as a new arena, though it studied established securities laws as a reference point, with their "longstanding legal regimes that address the issue, offer, and sale of other financial instruments, such as securities, including offshore activities."

The U.S. Department of the Treasury has taken another big step toward implementing the new stablecoin law, proposing federal definitions on what it means to issue U.S. stablecoins and who needs to follow the rules set out in the GENIUS Act, even as the law's deadlines are fast approaching.
Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said the administration is trying to move quickly to put the rules in place "as we work to provide the regulatory certainty businesses need to innovate and grow in America, cement the role of the U.S. dollar as the world’s reserve currency, and keep America the crypto capital of the world."🏆

The Moscow Exchange is preparing to launch perpetual futures for Bitcoin and Ethereum, with the first two perpetual crypto contracts expected to be available for trading as early as September, according to Maria Patrikeeva, the managing director of the exchange's derivatives market.
Cryptocurrency derivatives appeared on the Moscow Exchange's futures market in the summer of 2025. Currently, qualified investors can already work with monthly and quarterly contracts linked to Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, Ripple, and Tron.
The next step will be to introduce perpetual contracts for the same underlying assets. The exchange intends to gradually expand the list of digital coins to ten.
The cryptocurrency lineup complements preparations already under way for futures on US instruments.

The Trump administration says the nation’s science and technology research ecosystem needs to embrace “novel security solutions” to ensure the U.S. maintains its global edge, according to a new document publicly released on Monday.
It noted, for instance, that the FBI-led Quantum Information Science and Technology Counterintelligence Protection Team “brings an interagency team of quantum experts and security professionals to fine-tune technology protection and security outreach activities for the quickly evolving quantum R&D community.”
“The United States will further strengthen its workforce by attracting and retaining top-tier global talent in critical national security S&T fields,” — the strategy says.
“Agencies will collaborate on using existing authorities to recruit the exquisite talent necessary to ensure the national security S&T Enterprise leads the world in developing and applying these technologies.”🚀

Unitree has released a video of its newest humanoid robot claiming a top speed of 12.66 metres per second and a two metre vertical jump, both achieved inside a three month development window. That speed figure, which the company ties to a leg length of 0.85 metres, would put the machine past Usain Bolt's fastest recorded instant of roughly 12.3 metres per second.
