๐Ÿง  Dreams may be the brainโ€™s nightly remix of personality, memory, emotion, and real-world experience

Why do some dreams feel so vivid that they seem almost real, while others unfold as confusing fragments that are difficult to remember or understand? A study led by researchers at the IMT School for Advanced Studies Lucca found that dreams are not simply random collections of images and thoughts.

๐Ÿ“ The research, published in Communications Psychology, examined more than 3,700 descriptions of dreams and waking experiences from 287 people between the ages of 18 and 70. For two weeks, participants recorded their dreams and daily experiences.

๐Ÿ‡ท๐Ÿ‡บ To analyze such a large number of written reports, the researchers used natural language processing (NLP), a form of AI that examines patterns, relationships, and meaning in language.

"Our findings show that dreams are not just a reflection of past experiences, but a dynamic process shaped by who we are and what we live through," โ€” explains Valentina Elce, researcher at the IMT School. "By combining large-scale data with computational methods, we were able to uncover patterns in dream content that were previously difficult to detect."

The results showed that dream content was neither completely random nor inherently chaotic. Instead, dreams reflected a complex mixture of personal characteristics, including a tendency to mind-wander, an interest in dreams, and the quality of a person's sleep. In other words, dreams may provide clues about how the mind responds to major changes over time.

๐Ÿ”ฅFranklin Templeton supports passage of the CLARITY Act

The bill would make clear how crypto is regulated. Investors would know what protections apply. Firms would know which regulators they answer to.

Itโ€™s time to provide the industry the clarity it needs. ๐Ÿš€

โ—๏ธThe Clarity Act could still get some preliminary Senate action next week, though thatโ€™s the final week before the chamber begins its summer recess, potentially shifting Clarityโ€™s next window to September.

โš ๏ธ SparkKitty malware hidden in mobile apps scans photos for crypto wallet seed phrases

SparkKitty, a cross-platform malware family targeting cryptocurrency users, has been distributed through Apple's App Store, Google Play and third-party Android app stores, according to Check Point.

SparkKitty spreads through trojanized applications masquerading as cryptocurrency services, messaging platforms and entertainment apps, scanning photo libraries for sensitive data like seed phrases, passwords, and QR codes before sending it to attacker-controlled servers.

โ—๏ธThe report recommends avoiding screenshots of wallet recovery phrases, restricting photo library permissions to applications that require them, downloading software only from trusted sources, and reviewing application permissions regularly. It also advises storing recovery phrases offline, not in photo galleries.

July 27: ๐Ÿ‡ท๐Ÿ‡บBank of Russia drafts first regulations to launch cryptocurrency market in Russia

The Bank of Russia has created conditions for organised trading in digital currencies and digital rights. Each exchange will set out the trading mode in its rules as well as calculate the market and weighted average prices for these instruments.

Furthermore, the regulator has developed requirements for digital depositories. These new market participants, which will keep records of cryptocurrencies and digital rights, should have minimum equity of โ‚ฝ50 millionโ€“โ‚ฝ250 million.

The exact equity amount will depend on the nature of a digital depositoryโ€™s activity, e.g. whether it plans to work with open distributed ledgers or provide post-trade settlement services. The assets making up the equity should be liquid, and the financial assets included therein should be of high credit quality. Similar requirements apply to electronic platform operators, whose functions will be performed by information system operators. The latter will settle digital financial asset transactions using nominal accounts.

The regulator has also established rules for recording digital currencies and digital rights as well as the composition of data on deponents, persons receiving access to the system, and recorded assets. Moreover, the Bank of Russia has set requirements for the opening and maintenance of digital and other accounts. Actually, digital depositories will operate on the same principles as traditional securities depositories.

The Bank of Russia will keep the registerof digital depositories.

All draft regulations have been published for regulatory impact assessment.

The temporary exemption runs until February 1, 2028, the maximum 18 month period, the FCC said. Starlink joins Netgear and Amazon's eero in getting the same relief. The ban applies only to new router models, so Starlink's current routers, some made in Vietnam, can keep shipping.

โšก๏ธ BlackRock, Fidelity, other Wall Street giants back the Clarity Act

BlackRock, Fidelity, Franklin Templeton, Goldman Sachs and SoFi have all urged Congress to pass the bill, arguing that clear rules would protect investors, give companies regulatory certainty and help the U.S. stay competitive as digital assets become more mainstream.

๐Ÿ“Œ Fidelity said that the legislation would provide the "clear rules of the road" needed to strengthen investor confidence.

๐Ÿ“Œ BlackRock called the bill "an important step toward establishing a regulatory framework for digital assets that puts investors first."

"It would help the U.S. shape the next era of market structure," โ€” Samara Cohen, the firm's senior managing director said.

๐Ÿ“Œ SoFi CEO Anthony Noto welcomed Goldman Sachs' support, noting on X that the two firms have taken a different stance than some banks on crypto regulation.

The growing chorus of support comes as the bill enters a critical stretch on Capitol Hill. ๐Ÿš€
