Ripple secured a seat at the center of the U.K.'s push to move wholesale markets onchain, being named in a Treasury-backed report as one of the credentialed firms the plan leans on rather than a crypto entrant to be managed.
"Onchain funds, bonds and repo aren't experiments. They're already happening, delivering onchain financial instruments that are cheaper, better and faster than their legacy equivalents.
That's why we are proud to support HM Treasury's Wholesale Digital Markets taskforce and today's new strategy to scale tokenization in the UK," โ Ripple wrote on X.
๐ Estimates put the tokenised real-world assets market at $88 trillion by 2035. Up to ยฃ33 billion could be added to the UKโs annual economic output and ยฃ14 billion in annual tax revenues by 2035.
The inaugural report, published on 13 July 2026, sets out actions for industry, supported by government and the UK regulators, to tokenise UK financial markets at scale โ including building secondary markets, tokenising collateral and building on the issuance of DIGIT, the UK Digital Gilt instrument.
Ripple is included in that number.
They will be supported by the City of London Corporation, working closely with industry partners: TheCityUK, the Investment Association, UK Finance, Innovate Finance. The taskforce will drive delivery of live end-to-end use cases, focusing initially on tokenised repo.

"While virtual currencies improve transaction efficiency, their decentralized, anonymous, and cross-border circulation characteristics also provide unprecedented convenience for money laundering crimes," according to an article on the official website of China's top prosecutorial authority, the Supreme Peopleโs Procuratorate (SPP).
In particular, the authors singled out the use of mixers, privacy coins and decentralized exchanges, arguing that existing investigative methods struggle to trace transactions and gather evidence.

Chinese researchers have made a major breakthrough in AI technology. They have developed an all-optical interconnect system that connects standard electronic chips, increasing distributed inference speeds by over 100 times.
This new system also reduces the computational resources needed to just one-ninth of what is typically required. The study was published in the National Science Review journal, with Shu Haowen and Wang Xingjun from Peking University as corresponding authors.

The Linux Foundation announced the operational launch of the x402 Foundation, a new open-governance body formed to steward the x402 protocol โ the open standard for internet-native payments over HTTP.
Since the Foundation's intent to launch in April, 40 organizations have joined as members. Ripple is included in that number.
As AI agents begin to take on more of the transaction lifecycle, they'll need a way to pay that's as fast and reliable as the way they already exchange data.
"We've been helping build that future on the XRP Ledger with the tools and infrastructure developers need to enable agentic payments, including support for x402 that enables agents to transact using XRP and RLUSD today," โ Ripple wrote on X.

Based on highly productive conversations with Middle East leadership, I have decided to replace the 20% United States Reimbursement Fee with Trade and Investment Deals that the various Gulf States will be making into the United States. Those Investments will be MASSIVE but, at the same time, extraordinarily good for them, and their future.

Reflection AI, a U.S. startup vying to develop open models, has signed a $1 billion compute deal with European AI infrastructure company Nebius. Nebius, formerly the international arm of Russian tech giant Yandex, will provide Reflection access to Nvidiaโs latest chips.
The deal comes just a few weeks after the startup signed a similar deal to access SpaceXโs computing resources, and mirrors several partnerships by AI firms as they race to secure compute for training and deploying their models.

The United States and the United Kingdom have laid out a plan to make it easier for tokenized financial products to move between their markets, signaling that both governments want blockchain-based finance to become a bigger part of mainstream capital markets.
Both governments recognise the importance of promoting competition and innovation, protecting financial stability, safeguarding consumers, and maintaining public confidence in money, in a financial ecosystem that includes multiple forms of money.
1. The UK and United States affirm that stablecoins are an important vehicle for innovation in digital money.
2. The UK and United States intend to stimulate competition and innovation through policies that facilitate the coexistence and circulation of different forms of digital money solutions.
3. The UK and United States intend to advance a timely, clear, and consistent legal, regulatory, and supervisory pathway for digital financial innovation, including for stablecoins.
4. The UK and United States affirm that stablecoins held out as money should be fully backed, on at least a one-to-one basis, by high-quality, liquid assets.
5. The UK and United States affirm that reserve, liquidity, and other prudential requirements for stablecoins should seek to mitigate risks and avoid unnecessary fragmentation.
6. The UK and United States intend to advance regulatory approaches that promote innovation and resilience, without imposing burdensome constraints that undermine commercial viability, create barriers to entry, or hinder competition.
7. The UK and United States support the integration of well-regulated stablecoins into activities including payments, settlement, and tokenised financial markets.
8. The UK and United States intend to set high standards for the custody, segregation, and protection of stablecoin reserves.
9. The UK and United States support clarity, predictability, and cross-border coordination in the event of any potential failure of a stablecoin issuer.
10. The UK and United States affirm the importance of formal mechanisms to enable cross-border stablecoin activity as a feature of domestic regulatory and supervisory regimes.

New York became the first state to halt data center construction after Gov. Kathy Hochul signed an executive order today that temporarily bars the state from approving new permits for large projects.
Hochulโs order applies to data centers 50 megawatts or larger, potentially affecting more than a dozen projects. The stateโs Department of Environmental Conservation will not issue any permits that havenโt already been completed.

Google DeepMind CEO Demis Hassabis called for the creation of a new regulatory body to oversee frontier model releases.
โInitially, Frontier Labs would voluntarily share models with the Standards Body for review up to 30 days before release,โ the post reads. โOnce the assessment protocol is shown to be effective and robust, formalisation could quickly follow, meaning that Frontier Models would be required to pass it to be deployed in the US market. Labs would also work with the Standards Body to address any critical post-release vulnerabilities.โ
The proposed system would build on the ad hoc reviews performed by the U.S. government on Anthropicโs Mythos and OpenAIโs Sol. Under Hassabisโ proposed regulator, those decisions could be handed off to a new organization, backed by the U.S. government but funded by the AI industry and operated independently.
