A team of scientists from Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL), Cleveland Clinic, and IBM have calculated nine molecular configurations of a promising material to produce fuel for fusion energy – the first-known instance of such computations on quantum computers.

📄 Such calculations, demonstrated in a new paper published on arXiv, are computationally challenging for classical computers to scale when working alone. They are a fundamental step towards optimizing the production and extraction of tritium – an extremely rare material in nature that is necessary to produce fusion energy with most of the proposed machines.

Ensuring adequate supplies of tritium has long been a barrier to realizing the promise of clean and abundant energy from fusion power plants, and solving this issue is a key objective of the United States Department of Energy’s (DOE) Genesis Mission. 🎯

“Bringing quantum, AI, and classical computing together is essential to tackling our society's most fundamental scientific challenges – unlocking capabilities which none of these paradigms can access alone," said Jerry Chow, CTO of Quantum-Centric Supercomputing at IBM. 🤝

Chinese researchers have developed a memory chip that can model complex brain structures in real time, a breakthrough they say could improve brain disease diagnosis, brain-computer interfaces, and surgical navigation.

The 40-nanometer chip, created by researchers from Peking University and the Chinese Academy of Sciences, integrates an artificial neural network into its hardware. It reconstructs the brain’s intricate folded surface in less than half a second. The researchers reported that the chip is 50 to 478 times faster than systems powered by Nvidia’s A100 graphics processing unit for this task.

The Hi-Tech Park is working on introducing new types of activities into cryptocurrency legislation, according to Advisor of the Secretariat of the HTP Supervisory Board Filipp Petkevich.

➡️Filipp Petkevich noted that Belarus has created a comprehensive infrastructure so that any user can buy and sell cryptocurrencies, and derive a profit and income legally – taking into account the current restrictions that are separate for legal persons and natural persons.

“Legislation introducing a new type of activity – a crypto bank – is about to come into force. This is a new entity combining an HTP crypto-resident and a bank under the control of the National Bank,” he said.

🔥 SEC Unveils Sweeping 2026 Agenda to Reshape Crypto and Capital Markets

The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission is laying the groundwork for cryptocurrency rulemaking before the end of the year, with a blueprint to modify its rules for exchanges and broker dealers.

❗️On Tuesday, the SEC released its 2026 Regulatory Agenda, which includes proposed changes from reducing compliance burdens for emerging companies to allowing companies to file reports twice a year to one of the agency's biggest regulatory priorities — crypto.

🟠The SEC is considering proposing to amend a rule that requires brokers to maintain a minimum amount of liquid capital as well as another designed to protect customer assets if a broker becomes insolvent. The agency is also seeking to modify recordkeeping rules for broker dealers, with all three aimed at addressing "the application of these rules to crypto assets," the agency said.

🟠The SEC is also considering proposing new changes to its exchange rules.

"The proposed rules may provide greater certainty to the market, facilitate capital formation, and accommodate innovation within the crypto asset markets while, at the same time, ensuring that investors are adequately protected and provided with the information they need to make informed investment decisions," the agency said in the agenda.

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has signed a decree titled “On Measures to Stimulate and Develop the Digital Asset Industry in the Republic of Kazakhstan.”

⬇️ The document aims to further develop the legal and economic conditions for the market of digital assets, attracting investment, and strengthening Kazakhstan's position as a regional hub for digital technologies.

🟠Under the new rules, licensing of unsecured digital asset exchange operators and registration of trading and financial asset platforms are carried out by submitting documents to the National Bank of Kazakhstan.

🟠The decree introduces a mechanism for using associated petroleum gas and natural gas produced at oil and gas fields to generate electricity independently. This electricity may be used for digital mining where these resources are not required to meet state needs.

🟠The decree also provides for the development of mechanisms enabling the use of digital assets and stablecoins for cross-border settlements, as well as the creation of conditions for the voluntary disclosure of digital assets previously held on unregulated foreign platforms, followed by their transfer to platforms operated by domestic service providers.

🟠Income earned by individuals from transactions involving digital assets conducted through Kazakhstan's regulated digital asset infrastructure will be exempt from personal income tax.

❗️The legislative foundations for state regulation of the circulation of digital assets were laid by the Law "On digital assets in the Republic of Kazakhstan." Since May 1, 2026, a systematic regulation of digital asset circulation has been introduced in the country.
