🔥 Asset management giant Invesco files for tokenized fund targeting stablecoin reserve market

Asset manager, Invesco is preparing to launch a tokenized fund to serve the fast-growing stablecoin market, the latest sign that traditional asset managers are racing to manage the reserves backing digital dollars.

➡️ The firm — which has more than $2.5 trillion in AUM — filed with the SEC to register the Invesco Stablecoin Reserves Onchain Fund, which will invest in cash and short-term U.S. Treasury securities. The proposed portfolio aligns with the reserve requirements outlined in the GENIUS Act, the U.S. law governing payment stablecoins.

The filing named tokenization specialist Superstate as sub-transfer agent. Superstate will maintain a blockchain-integrated shareholder registry, combining traditional fund records with onchain tokens representing ownership. The filing said the fund will operate on a public blockchain, though it does not yet identify the network.

❗️Invesco's move is another sign of asset managers increasingly chasing a new business opportunity created by stablecoins.

That move placed Invesco alongside firms such as BlackRock, Franklin Templeton and Fidelity that have embraced tokenized money market funds as a way to modernize how traditional assets are issued, transferred and settled using blockchain rails.

🇺🇸 The California billionaire tax is headed to the ballot.

The proposed tax measure, which would require billionaires to pay a one-time tax equal to 5% of their net worth, will appear on the ballot in November after opponents, including Gov. Gavin Newsom, failed to cut a deal with the union behind it before the June 25 deadline.

Now the 200-plus billionaires in California — which has more of them than any other state and most countries — are facing the reality that the tax could become law.

The so-called billionaire tax is among the highest-profile ballot efforts in the US this year taking aim at rising wealth disparities, and is set to be one of the state’s most contentious ballot initiatives. It has already spurred tech moguls to pour millions of dollars into attempts to stop the proposal.

🤖 AI Startup Firmus to Build Indonesia Data Center With Nvidia

Firmus Technologies Pty Ltd. will build its first data center project in Indonesia as part of a partnership with US chip giant Nvidia Corp., which the Australian artificial intelligence infrastructure firm said is expected to win it as much as $30 billion in committed offtake agreements in its first six years.

Firmus and Singapore-based DayOne will develop a 360 megawatt Nvidia DSX AI Factory campus in Batam, Indonesia, an island just off the coast of Singapore, as part of an eight-year partnership with Nvidia, the company said.

China’s Zhipu AI (Z.ai) released its open-weight GLM-5.2, and security researchers have claimed that it matches Mythos in certain bug-finding and cybersecurity scenarios. While GLM lags behind models from Anthropic and OpenAI in other, more general tasks, it seems that China has dramatically reduced the gap in the capabilities between its models and those of the US.

Because GLM is an open-weight model, it can be downloaded and run by anyone on readily available hardware. That gives it great flexibility and allows power users deep access, but it also makes it ripe for abuse by bad actors who can run it with little oversight.
