On Wednesday, OpenAI unveiled its first custom-built inference processor, designed and manufactured in collaboration with Broadcom. Named Jalapeño, the new processor was designed specifically for the unique needs of OpenAI’s inference systems. OpenAI’s own AI models assisted in the development of the chip, the company said.
While the chip is still being tested, OpenAI says early results show significantly better performance-per-watt than current state-of-the-art alternatives.

➡️ Circle CCTP (Cross-Chain Transfer Protocol) is a burn-and-mint protocol for moving native USDC between blockchains. The source chain burns USDC, CCTP's attestation service signs the burn message, and the destination chain mints fresh native USDC of the same amount.
Before CCTP, USDC reached Stellar through third-party bridges, Circle Mint redemptions, or anchor swaps.
CCTP fundamentally improves how USDC moves between Stellar and other chains, who or what sits in the middle, and what the resulting asset looks like on the destination chain.

SBI VC Trade lists RLUSD for retail dollar settlements (capped at 1M yen per transaction) while SBI Holdings' $JPYSC handles unlimited yen-denominated corporate settlements, both launch today.
Japan's SBI VC Trade launched Ripple's RLUSD stablecoin for retail users with strict transaction limits, marking the first registered electronic payment instrument of its kind in Japan.
Japan's first trust bank-backed yen stablecoin, issued by SBI Shinsei Trust Bank and distributed exclusively through SBI VC Trade. The token is pegged 1:1 to the yen, classified as an electronic payment instrument under Japan's Payment Services Act, and carries no transaction cap, a structural detail that separates it from every prior yen stablecoin attempt in the domestic market.

Anthropic PBC accused Chinese technology giant Alibaba Group Holding Ltd. of waging a large-scale effort to “illicitly” access its Claude artificial intelligence model using thousands of fraudulent accounts.
Anthropic claimed that a campaign by operators linked to Alibaba’s Qwen AI lab targeted Claude’s most prized capabilities, including software engineering and agentic reasoning, according to a letter that the AI startup sent to several US senators and White House officials. The company said it was the biggest attempt so far by a Chinese company to piggyback on the work of top US labs.

Elon Musk confirmed that Starmind will be the official name of SpaceX’s planned AI satellite constellation, following a trademark filing by xAI that surfaced earlier this week. Starmind is what’s being described to the FCC as a constellation of up to one million AI satellites.
Starmind is something completely different, and tather than moving data, its satellites would compute data through artificial intelligence and directly in orbit using onboard processors powered by large solar arrays. Where a Starlink satellite is essentially a very fast pipe, a Starmind satellite is a server.
The practical implication is that Starmind would allow AI models to run inference, process queries, and generate outputs from space, then beam results down to users anywhere on Earth within milliseconds, and without the data ever needing to travel to a terrestrial data center.

DOE is investing to accelerate fault‑tolerant quantum computing through Quantum Genesis. While networks like Stellar are investing to absorb that shock by moving to quantum‑resistant cryptography on roughly the same timeline. QPP aims to have all Stellar accounts able to add quantum‑safe signers by end of 2027, with enterprise wallets starting as early as 2026. So is Stellar aligning its migration window with the expected inflection point in real‑world quantum capability? 🤔

Matrixdock, Asia's leading Real-World Asset (RWA) tokenization platform, today announced the expansion of its flagship tokenized gold product, XAUm, to the Stellar network, extending institutional-grade access to physical gold through Stellar.
XAUm has grown to rank among the top 4 tokenized gold products globally and Asia's largest, with over 88,000 unique on-chain addresses and 730,000 lifetime transactions across its ecosystem.
“Bringing XAUm to Stellar gives institutions and treasuries access to an asset that strengthens the network's foundation for real-world finance,” said Raja Chakravorti, Stellar Development Foundation Chief Business Officer.
Another step in building the reserve layer for on-chain finance. Physical integrity. Digital utility.

A bipartisan group launched Thursday with $500 million in funding from tech and other interests to help American workers adapt to AI — marking one of the largest private efforts yet to address growing public anxiety about the technology’s potential to trigger widespread job losses.
The effort is led by two former governors, Democrat Gina Raimondo and Republican Eric Holcomb. Named RAISE US, the nonprofit will work with corporate donors including Anthropic, OpenAI, Amazon, Microsoft, Bank of America, General Motors and pharmaceutical giant Eli Lilly to design and implement programs to retrain workers for new roles, as a way to deter layoffs.

IBM today unveiled a major semiconductor breakthrough with the introduction of the world’s first sub-1 nanometer (nm) chip technology, featuring a revolutionary transistor architecture at the 0.7 nm, or 7 angstrom node. The achievement marks a landmark moment for an industry facing the physical limits of traditional chip scaling. Semiconductors play critical roles in everything from computing, to appliances, to communication devices, transportation systems, and critical infrastructure.
IBM’s new sub-1 nm chip packs nearly 100 billion transistors onto a chip the size of a fingernail, nearly twice the density of IBM’s 2 nm chip, unveiled in 2021. Enabled by a series of structural and material innovations, including IBM’s groundbreaking three-dimensional nanostack architecture, the technology demonstrates how continued gains in performance and efficiency remain possible even as chip features approach atomic dimensions.
