🧑‍⚖️ SEC sues Texas man over $12.3 million alleged crypto scheme built on fake AI trading bots

The SEC has sued Texas resident Nathan Fuller, alleging he raised about $12.3 million from roughly 150 investors through a crypto investment scheme built around false claims of AI-powered trading bots, guaranteed returns and insurance protections.

📄 According to a complaint filed in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas, Fuller operated through Privvy Investments LLC and the assumed business names Privvy Investments and Gateway Digital Investments.

The SEC says he sold passive joint-venture interests in a purported crypto arbitrage trading operation from at least October 2022 through mid-2024.

➡️The agency claims that Fuller told investors that proprietary AI-based trading bots could scan crypto markets, execute high-frequency arbitrage trades and limit losses through stop-loss coding.

➡️The complaint alleges investors were promised returns of 40% to 50% within 30 to 45 days and, in some cases, exceeding 100% in less than a month.

❗️The SEC says those representations were false. According to the complaint, only about $380,000, or roughly 3% of investor funds, was used to purchase cryptocurrency without the involvement of bots. The agency says those trades were conducted without the advertised bots and generated no profits.

The SEC charged Fuller with violating the registration and antifraud provisions of federal securities laws and is seeking permanent injunctions, disgorgement, civil penalties and a ban on participating in securities offerings.

🤖 New 3D silicon chip breakthrough could extend Moore’s Law for years

For decades, the computing industry has followed a simple formula: make transistors smaller and pack more of them onto a chip. That strategy fueled the extraordinary rise in computing power predicted by Moore's law. But as components approach atomic scales, engineers are increasingly running into the physical limits of silicon and the effects of quantum mechanics.

A team led by University of Illinois Grainger College of Engineering materials science and engineering professor Qing Cao has demonstrated a new method for stacking multiple layers of silicon electronics directly on top of one another.

➡️The approach could dramatically increase computing density, improve performance, and reduce energy consumption while extending the progress that has driven the semiconductor industry for more than half a century.

"For the first time, we have met the thermal budget of monolithic 3D integration using standard single-crystalline silicon and delivered unprecedented performance," — Cao said.

The researchers report that their process achieves device yields of 98‒100% while using standard single-crystalline silicon, the semiconductor material that underpins modern electronics. The results suggest the technique could eventually be adopted by commercial chip manufacturers.

⚔️ EuroOffice emerges as Europe’s sovereignty‑focused alternative to Microsoft 365

A coalition of European enterprises and community organizations, including IONOS, Nextcloud, Eurostack, XWiki, OpenProject, Soverin, Abilian, and BTactic, is behind Euro-Office, which is a Europe-based software-as-a-service (SaaS) designed to give Microsoft Office and Google Docs a run for their money (via ZDNet).

EuroOffice to debut on June 9 as Europe’s sovereign answer to Microsoft 365. This isn't the first threat to Microsoft's dominance with Windows and its Office productivity tools. In April, the French government revealed that it was ditching Windows for Linux as part of the country's broader strategy to reduce its dependence on American tools.

🇺🇸 US scientists’ new quantum lab targets next-generation computing breakthroughs

Massachusetts will invest up to $25 million in a new quantum research facility at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), a move state officials say will strengthen the region’s position in one of the world’s most competitive emerging technologies.

Governor Maura Healey announced the funding commitment for MIT’s planned Quantum Systems Laboratory (QSL), a facility expected to support advanced quantum computing and sensing research while creating hundreds of jobs and expanding training opportunities for future scientists and engineers.

One of the facility’s goals is to advance the emerging field of quantum-enhanced sensing, which leverages quantum-mechanical effects to improve measurement precision. Such technologies could eventually find applications in navigation, medical imaging, environmental monitoring, and national security.

BYD Unveils New Smart Driving Solutions with 'God's Eye 5.0'

BYD has introduced its latest smart driving solution equipped with 'God's Eye 5.0' and a new autonomous driving framework. The company revealed several technical details, surprising the market with two key features: a 'safety net guarantee' for all models equipped with 'God's Eye 5.0' and the launch of its self-developed 'Xuanji A3' chip.

“There are roughly 1.19 million people who die in traffic accidents globally every year, and tens of millions more are injured. Our first goal is to achieve zero traffic accidents,” — said founder and chairman Wang Chuanfu.

By integrating sensors, cameras, radar, and AI, the company aims to enhance a vehicle’s ability to detect hazards, respond to traffic conditions, and assist drivers in complex environments. The system allows drivers to go “hands off”, with BYD pledging to cover any costs from traffic accidents when the technology is activated.

🇰🇷🤑🤑 XLM Surges Past XRP in South Korea as DTCC Partnership Ignites Retail FOMO with “Buy-the-News” Playing Out

Retail traders are quickly rotating out of XRP and piling into Stellar, with South Korea emerging as the main hotspot for the latest wave of crypto momentum. The move has been strong enough to push XLM ahead of XRP in trading activity on Upbit, the country’s largest exchange.

📈 Stellar climbed to the top of Upbit’s rankings after posting roughly $252 million in 24-hour volume, nearly double XRP’s $125 million.

❗️It’s the first time XLM has overtaken XRP on the platform 🏆

DTCC’s engagement with Stellar doesn’t necessarily sideline the XRP Ledger or XRP; it reinforces a more likely outcome, an emerging multi-chain financial system where different networks serve different roles rather than competing for dominance.

➡️ In this structure, Stellar is increasingly associated with tokenized assets and securities infrastructure, while XRP continues to focus on cross-border payments and liquidity through Ripple’s global network.

🤝 Both are targeting different layers of the financial system.

The long-term relationship between Ripple and Stellar may resemble a financial-services duopoly, similar to Visa and Mastercard, where two parallel systems coexist, each powering a different but complementary segment of global finance.

🇺🇸 New US battery facility to produce 10,000-ton EV anode materials, reduce foreign dependence

US company Graphite One has announced it has seured a new site in Ohio to produce 10,000-ton batteries domestically. Located in Conneaut, the company plan to produce what are called Active Anode Materials (AAM) at the new facility. Construction is expected to be completed by late 2027.

At present, the US remains entirely dependent on imported natural graphite. Graphite One is, in part, trying to tackle this issue by linking domestic mining, transportation, processing, and battery material manufacturing into a single supply chain.

The company’s Graphite Creek deposit in Alaska, identified by the US Geological Survey as the country’s largest graphite deposit, would supply raw material to the Ohio facility via the Port of Nome and Great Lakes shipping routes.

❗️The project reflects a broader push by the US to build domestic capability across the battery supply chain.
