Robots trained entirely in simulation are beginning to perform more reliably in the real world, according to a series of new robotics research papers presented by NVIDIA at the International Conference on Robotics and Automation (ICRA).
The studies focus on one of roboticsโ biggest challenges: narrowing the โsim-to-realโ gap, where machines trained in virtual environments struggle when deployed outside controlled lab conditions.
NVIDIA Research said eight of its accepted ICRA papers demonstrated advances in robotic navigation, grasping, assembly, and reasoning using simulation-based learning systems. The projects aim to help robots adapt to unpredictable real-world environments instead of relying on rigid scripted behaviors.

The bill, which envisages a new commission to look into corruption cases linked to high-ranking officials, is a step forward after decades of unsuccessful attempts to shore up rule-of-law in what is often considered one of the EUโs most corrupt members.

A startup just revealed an AI-powered uncrewed underwater vehicle (UUV) designed to operate at depths of up to 1,640 feet (500 meters) and come with a 22-pound (10-kilogram) payload. This undersea drone is capable of subsea infrastructure protection, inspections, and intervention. It can operate independently for up to four hours, but can extend indefinitely if tethered to a power source from the surface.
This drone, called the SU10 and built by SYOS, can launch directly from shore, through a crewed mothership, or via a larger uncrewed surface ship. The SU10 could potentially excel at monitoring and protecting undersea cables. If it detects a disruption, it could immediately alert the operator, who can then take over to verify that information.
