🇦🇺 Australia Plots Next Step in Tokenized Bond Market Expansion

Australia’s central bank and financial regulators are laying the groundwork for a potential expansion of tokenized bond markets as policymakers seek to push the country’s wholesale financial system further into the digital era.

The Reserve Bank, alongside Australia’s corporate watchdog ASIC, the prudential regulator APRA, Treasury and the Digital Finance Cooperative Research Centre, outlined an 11-point program on Monday. It followed a yearlong industry experiment that found tokenized assets and digital settlement systems could improve the efficiency of wholesale markets.

💊 Living robot swarms built from algae can split, merge, and target wounds with light

Scientists have developed living microrobot swarms made from algae and nanoparticles that can assemble into custom shapes under blue light and disperse on command with red light. The biohybrid system could one day help deliver drugs directly to wounds or diseased tissue using smart bandage-like platforms.

The research team used the green microalga Chlamydomonas reinhardtii to create reconfigurable swarms capable of changing shape, size, and position in real time. The study also demonstrated an AI-assisted wound treatment concept.

Researchers used image-segmentation software to identify suspicious wound regions and generate a matching light mask. The microrobots were then assembled onto medical tape and released directly into the wound area. Researchers reported that nearly 90% of the biohybrids transferred into the wound cavity in under two minutes.

🤖 Bill Gates’ nuclear firm acquires South Korean tech for 345-MW US sodium-cooled reactor

A delegation of engineers from the United States nuclear developer TerraPower, which is backed by Bill Gates, has completed a training program at the Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute (KAERI). This training concludes a 7 billion won ($4.67 million) technology transfer agreement.

🤝 Through this deal, the US company acquired South Korean intellectual property and manufacturing design data for a sodium-cooled fast reactor (SFR) safety testing facility known as STELLA.

“This training is a hands-on international education program organized at the request of TerraPower, a US company pursuing the ‘Natrium’ project, a next-generation sodium-cooled fast reactor (SFR) development project,” — said KAERI in a press release.

An SFR is a nuclear reactor design that utilizes liquid sodium as a coolant instead of water. Liquid sodium has excellent heat transfer properties, allowing the reactor to operate at higher thermal efficiency and lower internal pressures.

🇬🇧UK’s financial payments network is ready for tokenization, regulators say

The Bank of England (BOE) and the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) set out their approach to tokenization and its use in U.K. financial markets and said they are seeking public feedback on the proposal.

📝 In a joint statement, the regulators said it's time for the public and private sectors to utilize the technology in financial infrastructure to drive economic growth and innovation. Tokenization is the process of representing a real-world asset in the digital environment of a blockchain.

"Tokenisation has the potential to transform wholesale markets – reshaping how assets are issued, traded and settled," — Simon Walls, executive director of markets at the FCA, said.. "We want to support firms in adopting this technology to lower costs, reduce risk and unlock new services."

❗️The regulators said they are looking for views on "where existing rules and infrastructure support or constrain the safe use of this technology." The deadline for responses is July 3. The central bank also published its plans to extend settlement in the country's money-transmission mechanisms to 24/7 operation.

🔥 Why Everything Suddenly Feels Connected

Finance, AI, infrastructure, digital identity, automation, coordination systems — subjects that once felt unrelated now keep moving toward the same environment at the exact same time. And the deeper you look into these shifts, the harder it becomes to see them as isolated developments happening independently from one another.

Usually the transition starts quietly — inside infrastructure, perception, incentives, and the invisible logic connecting systems together underneath the surface. 🧩

And by the time the larger pattern becomes obvious to everyone, the foundation has often already changed. 🔴

⚡️🇪🇺 The EU Is Seeking to Ease Trade Strains With US and China

President Donald Trump’s summit with China’s Xi Jinping last week was billed as the most pivotal moment of the year so far for global commerce. But there’s another major trading power soon facing its own showdowns with the world’s two largest economies.

On Tuesday, European Union officials will meet to try to finalize legislation for the bloc’s trade deal with the US. Failure to do so means the EU risks missing Trump’s July 4 deadline to have the accord in place.

🤖 World’s first AI-native particle collider will process 500,000 collisions per second

Five hundred thousand times per second, the Electron-Ion Collider (EIC) will record a collision. At that rate, machine learning will sort, filter, and reconstruct what’s happening inside the detector. That requirement shaped the entire facility’s design.

The collider being built at Brookhaven National Laboratory in New York is the first of its kind – the first particle collider with AI and machine learning integrated into both its accelerator and detector systems from the start. It is a joint project between Brookhaven and the Department of Energy’s Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility, with more than 300 institutions collaborating worldwide.

The price tag sits between $1.7 billion and $2.8 billion. Operations are targeted for the mid-2030s.

🔋 Google Executive Says ‘Moonshot’ Clean Energy Goal Is Intact

A senior executive at Alphabet Inc.’s Google said the company isn’t abandoning plans to run its business on 24/7 carbon-free energy by 2030, even as the buildout of data centers for AI raises questions about the feasibility of such a goal.

Ben King, Google’s country managing director for Singapore and Malaysia, said the so-called hourly matching goal — whereby electricity consumption is backed by clean energy every hour of every day, in all regions in which the company operates — “remains” in place, in response to questions at a conference in Singapore.
