In the country's spring economic update, the government said that it is proposing to ban crypto ATMs, describing them as a "primary method for scammers to defraud victims and for criminals to place their cash proceeds of crime." The government didn't elaborate further on the proposal or a timeline in the document.
Canada is home to roughly 4,000 crypto ATMs — one of the highest concentrations in the world — yet the sector operates without industry-specific regulations. Despite the proposed ban, Canadians can still buy crypto assets from legitimate brick-and-mortar money services businesses.

Apple is preparing to integrate AI more deeply into the iPhone camera with iOS 27. As part of the change, the company will move its Visual Intelligence feature — currently tied to the Camera Control button — into the camera app itself. That will make it more prominent within the iPhone interface.
Apple is also adding new capabilities. The camera will be able “to scan nutrition labels on food packaging to log dietary data” and “capture contact information to save directly to the address book”.
Apple is set to unveil iOS 27 and its broader AI strategy at WWDC26 in June, with a public release expected this fall.

Hyundai Motor Co. unveiled a next-generation infotainment system as South Korea’s top automaker accelerates its shift toward software-defined vehicles. The new Pleos Connect system, which draws on Tesla Inc.’s minimalist aesthetic, pairs a wide central screen touch display designed to stay within the driver’s line of sight.
Powering the new system is the Gleo AI, a voice assistant that is capable of understanding regular conversations instead of forcing users into giving robotic voice commands. Hyundai has retained physical controls on the steering wheel and below the screen to improve safety and usability.

Franklin Templeton and the Stellar Development Foundation today mark five years of the Franklin OnChain U.S. Government Money Fund (FOBXX), the first U.S.-registered mutual fund to use a public blockchain as its official system of record for processing transactions and recording share ownership.

"In 2021, Franklin Templeton built the first onchain, regulated, yield-bearing instrument on Stellar and the rest of the industry has been racing to catch up ever since."
Our congratulations! Many more years of partnership!

Japan's SoftBank Group plans to create and list an AI and robotics company called Roze in the U.S. to make data center construction more “efficient”. It would do that by — among other things — deploying autonomous robots to help build server farms.
Founder and CEO Masayoshi Son wants to list the business as he seeks to offset commitments including pledges to ChatGPT maker OpenAI. The Japanese investment firm aims to create and float such a vehicle as soon as this year, though the timing on that could slip to 2027.

Ripple today announced an expansion of its presence in the UAE with the opening of its new Middle East and Africa (MEA) regional headquarters in the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC), creating capacity to grow its local team as demand for regulated blockchain-powered payment and custody solutions continues to accelerate across the region.
The new office, which is located within DIFC, reflects the scale of that growth and provides the space to double the size of Ripple's regional team as it deepens support for clients and partners across the Middle East and Africa, including established clients such as Zand Bank, Ctrl Alt, Garanti BBVA, Absa Bank, and Chipper Cash.
