🤖 Claude-powered AI coding agent deletes entire company database in 9 seconds

PocketOS founder blames ‘Cursor running Anthropic's flagship Claude Opus 4.6’ plus Railway’s infrastructure for data disaster. PocketOS is a SaaS platform that services car rental businesses. It used the AI coding agent Cursor, running Anthropic's flagship Claude Opus 4.6. The business also relies on Railway, a cloud infrastructure provider.

“Yesterday afternoon, an AI coding agent — Cursor running Anthropic's flagship Claude Opus 4.6 deleted our production database and all volume-level backups in a single API call to Railway, our infrastructure provider,” sums up the PocketOS boss. — “It took 9 seconds.” 🤯

The AI agent was set to complete a routine task in the PocketOS staging environment. However, it came up against a barrier “and decided — entirely on its own initiative — to 'fix' the problem by deleting a Railway volume,” writes Crane.

Crane decided to ask his AI agent why it went through with its database deletion deed.

The answer began as follows: “NEVER F**KING GUESS! — and that's exactly what I did."

Thankfully, PocketOS had a full 3-month-old backup, which was restorable from, so the deletion gaps are all limited to the interim period.

🇺🇸 SEC, CFTC Chiefs Signal ‘New Day’ for U.S. Onshore Crypto, Tokenization and Future‑Proof Rules

SEC Chair Paul Atkins and CFTC Chair Mike Selig used back‑to‑back chats on the Nakamoto Stage at The Bitcoin 2026 Conference to signal a reset in Washington’s approach to digital assets, tokenization, and market structure. Atkins described it as “a new day at the SEC,” while Selig said regulators are “turning over a new page” and need to harmonize their efforts.

🟠Atkins: an “innovation exemption” is coming, designed to give crypto projects room to build within a defined regulatory lane instead of staying in a gray area or moving offshore.

🟠Atkins: legislators need to speak clearly on digital assets so there are durable rules and so entrepreneurs can pursue their goals in the U.S.

🟠Atkins: President Donald Trump’s GENIUS Act on stablecoins is an example of a principles‑based regulatory model that leaves room for innovation while drawing firm boundaries around risk.

🟠Atkins on the Clarity Act: there could be movement on that package in May, with the possibility of passage in June, but he cautioned that nothing is guaranteed.

🟠Atkins: crypto and blockchain technology are the most exciting aspect of the current transition. He highlighted the prospect of instantaneous settlement and said faster settlement can reduce risk in the financial system.

❗️Atkins previewed the agency’s next step: an initiative that will allow firms to experiment on‑chain with tokenized and securitized instruments over the next few weeks.

⚫️Selig: the CFTC is “turning over a new page” in its approach to digital assets and emphasized the need to harmonize the agency’s work with the SEC. Two agencies need a coordinated framework instead of overlapping or conflicting rules. 🤝

⚫️Selig: a coherent crypto market structure for digital assets should respect property rights and give market participants predictable rules, rather than drive activity into less regulated jurisdictions.

🧠 BCI startup Neurable looks to license its ‘mind-reading’ tech for consumer wearables

Neurable specializes in “non-invasive” BCI. It works through a combination of EEG sensors and signal processing that can scan a user’s brain activity, analyze it with AI, and provide information about a person’s cognitive performance.

💡 The idea is that mind-reading tech (which can provide detailed data about how a person’s brain works while they’re engaged in various activities) could be integrated into wearables across a number of industries — including health and athletic products, productivity tools, and gaming.

“Through Neurable’s licensing platform, OEMs can directly integrate its AI-powered brain-sensing technology into existing hardware, such as headphones, hats, glasses, and headbands,” — the company said.

Neurable has already fostered partnerships with HP Inc.’s HyperX, a gaming brand, with which it created a headset designed to help gamers, and iMotions, a software platform that specializes in human behavior research, to assist with the company’s research initiatives.

🤖 Gemini rolls out Agentic Trading allowing AI bots to directly manage crypto exchange trading accounts

Gemini is looking to make it easier for users to let AI guide their trades. The crypto exchange rolled out Agentic Trading, which lets users connect AI models like Claude and ChatGPT to their trading accounts.

"We believe we're at the beginning of a fundamental shift in how people interact with financial markets," — Gemini wrote. "Agentic trading isn't just a feature. It's a new paradigm where AI handles the execution, patterns, and discipline, while you focus on strategy and goals."

This will make it easier for AI to autonomously monitor markets, place trades, and even execute trades and manage risk based on predefined trading strategies. Gemini referred to the feature as “the first agentic trading tool to be available directly through a regulated US-based exchange.”

💊 FDA Plans to Speed Up Drug Trials With Real-Time Data, AI

The US Food and Drug Administration plans to cut the time it takes drug companies to test new medicines by getting more visibility into clinical trials as they’re underway.

The proposal could shave off “months, if not years” off of drug development times, the agency’s Chief AI Officer Jeremy Walsh said. Under the plan, the FDA will monitor high-level signals about whether experimental drugs work and are safe in real time, though it won’t collect all patient-level data.

🏛 Meta Accused of Failing to Keep Children Off Instagram and Facebook in Europe

Meta has failed to implement needed safeguards to keep children under the age of 13 off Instagram and Facebook in violation of a European Union online safety law. Meta Platforms must do more to block children under 13 from accessing the social networks, EU regulators said.

Meta does not have an adequate system to identify and remove the accounts of the children who flout the social media giant’s age limits, the European Commission, the executive branch of the European Union, said in a preliminary ruling. Without changes, Meta could face fines and other penalties.

🇨🇦 Canada moves to ban crypto ATMs, labeling them as 'primary method' for fraud

In the country's spring economic update, the government said that it is proposing to ban crypto ATMs, describing them as a "primary method for scammers to defraud victims and for criminals to place their cash proceeds of crime." The government didn't elaborate further on the proposal or a timeline in the document.

Canada is home to roughly 4,000 crypto ATMs one of the highest concentrations in the world — yet the sector operates without industry-specific regulations. Despite the proposed ban, Canadians can still buy crypto assets from legitimate brick-and-mortar money services businesses.

🤑 Stellar Development Foundation’s CMO on Why Stablecoins Are the Gateway to Tokenizing Everything

Why it matters: Crypto still suffers from a branding gap despite growing institutional adoption, according to Stellar CMO Jason Karsh.

⚫️Karsh said the industry leans too heavily on “esoteric words and verbiage” that alienate everyday users.
⚫️He argued crypto “peaked in public” too early due to speculative mania, distorting its real potential.
⚫️The bigger opportunity: rebuilding global financial rails to move and store value more efficiently.

⭐️ The big picture: Stellar is positioning itself at the center of tokenization and cross-border payments as institutions enter crypto.

🟠The network has focused on payments and real-world financial use cases since launching in 2014.
🟠That long-term approach is now paying off as regulators warm to stablecoins and tokenized assets.
🟠Karsh said the goal is to eventually move “trillions” of dollars on-chain, beyond early pilot programs.

⚡️ What’s next: Karsh expects growth to come from replacing legacy financial systems with blockchain rails. He predicts both humans and AI agents will drive transaction growth. Near-term success depends on onboarding “100 million humans” first.
