🇪🇺🇧🇪 Brussels launched an age checking app. Hackers say it takes 2 minutes to break it.

The European Union’s unveiling of a mobile app to check people’s age online has quickly turned sour, as cybersecurity experts found glaring privacy and security problems with the code.

"It was technically ready. It is fully open source. Everyone can check the code,"— von der Leyen said during the presentation of the age-verification tool in Brussels.

Within hours of the EU’s app release, security consultant Paul Moore found it would store sensitive data on a user’s phone and leave it unprotected, he wrote in a widely shared post on X. Moore claimed to have hacked the app in under 2 minutes. 😁

"This product will be the catalyst for an enormous breach at some point. It's just a matter of time," — Paul Moore wrote on X.

❤️ Zoom teams up with World to verify humans in meetings Meeting platform.

Zoom has announced a partnership with World, Sam Altman’s human ID verification company, to ensure that the people attending meetings are actually human and not AI-generated imposters. Deepfake video-call fraud represents a serious risk for businesses, especially those that regularly conduct high-value transactions over video.

World ID Deep Face tech takes a three-pronged approach to verifying that a participant is a real person. It cross-references a signed image taken at the time of the user’s registration through World’s Orb device, a real-time face scan from the user’s device, and a live video frame visible to other meeting participants. It only verifies someone when all three things match, at which point a “Verified Human” badge appears on that participant’s title.

🤑🤑 XRP ETFs: The Institutional Era Has Begun ⚡️

For years, institutional interest in XRP was expressed through OTC desks, private placements, and the kind of quiet conviction that rarely makes headlines. That chapter is over. 📖🔚

📈 In the space of a few months at the end of 2025, XRP became one of the most actively adopted digital assets in the regulated Spot ETF market, attracting capital from some of the most influential names in traditional finance and cementing its place in the institutional allocation conversation.

📚 This is the story of how that happened, what the numbers say, and why it matters for the future of XRP and the broader onchain economy.

What Comes Next?
🧐

➡️ The XRP ETF market is still young. Seven U.S. spot ETFs with $1.53 billion in AUM and 773 million XRP tokens in custody represents meaningful progress, but the category has plenty of room to grow. 🤩

➡️ The product landscape will also continue to evolve. ARK Invest has allocated nearly 20% of its CoinDesk 20 ETF to XRP, making it the third-largest holding. International markets are moving too, Hong Kong, Canada, and European exchanges are broadening the global footprint of regulated XRP products. 🌎💫

💎 And as the XRP Ledger's technical roadmap advances through 2026, confidential multi-purpose tokens for institutional collateral management, native lending protocols, and formal protocol verification, the asset's utility proposition for institutions grows more compelling.

📖✍️ The story is still being written. What's clear is that XRP is no longer knocking on the door of institutional finance. It's arrived.

⚡️🇺🇸🇨🇺 A diplomatic breakthrough: The US and Cuba held secret talks in Havana for the first time in 10 years.

Representatives of the US State Department visited Havana on April 10. They met with Cuban officials, including Raul Rodriguez Castro, the grandson of Raul Castro.

The U.S. officials impressed on the Castro regime that "the Cuban economy is in free fall and that the island's ruling elites have a small window to make key U.S. backed reforms before circumstances irreversibly worsen." The U.S. delegation also offered to help restore internet services by setting up Starlink satellite services.

🛡 Sam Altman’s World project launches major upgrade to fight deepfakes and bots

World unveiled a major upgrade to its World ID system, pitching it as “full-stack proof of human” infrastructure to verify real people across consumer apps, enterprises and AI agents without exposing personal data. The rollout includes new features, partnerships with Tinder, Zoom and Docusign.

World’s system relies on its custom-built “Orb” devices to establish what it calls proof-of-humanity. To obtain a World ID, users must visit an Orb in person, where the device scans their face and iris to generate a unique cryptographic code representing that individual.

The images are deleted after processing, according to the company, and only anonymized fragments of the code are sent across a distributed network to confirm the person has not previously registered. The result is a credential that can prove someone is a unique human online without revealing their identity or personal data.
