Most chats connected to channels of a certain size have bots policing them. Unfortunately they have become a matter of necessity as the amount of spam, porn, etc., would make the chats unusable.

The bots are not fool proof, and they end up zapping good people for no real reason. Frustratingly, this is now a common occurrence.

If this happens to you, just reach out in one of the neighboring WTM account’s chats and (politely, please) let them know you got booted by mistake and one of our admins or moderators will look into it and get you back in.

98% of the time, if you’re a real person not spamming the chat, it was an accidental zap by our robocops.

But also please keep in mind, chats rooms are not the public square, and when you’re in one of our rooms, we are hosting you and you are our guest. Think of it like a dinner party where the conversation flows freely. But if you get belligerent, rude, annoying or disruptive to the rest of our guests, we will call you an Uber.

As I like to say, your right to free speech doesn’t mean I’m forced to listen to you heavy breathe over the phone.
