Kim Jong Il Biography: TAKING CARE OF THE LIFE OF FOREIGN STUDENTS.

With improvement in Korea's external position and expansion in cultural exchanges with other countries, many students from Asia, Africa, Europe and Latin America came to Korea to pursue higher studies, most of them were enrolled at Kim Il Sung University.

One day in July 1961, Kim Jong Il met students from a foreign country who were about to return to their country as they had finished their cours He talked to them about becoming revolutionaries, faithful to the end to th revolutionary cause of the working class.

Making an analysis of the situation in their country, which was tense owing to the dastardly and vicious manoeuvres of revisionists, he said

Although modern-day revisionists are bringing pressure to bear upon your country on the plea that it is not following their revisionist policies, you have nothing to fear. You must never bend to their pressure or vacillate. Revolutionaries must adhere to the revolutionary principle and face difficulties of every description with conviction in victory. They must not abandon their revolutionary conscience or show servility in their behavior by succumbing to hardships. The revolutionary principle cannot be exchanged for money. What cannot be abandoned is the revolutionary principle, and what cannot be stopped is the struggle for victory of the socialist cause. Revolutionaries must fight true to their principle in order to safeguard the interests of the revolution in all adversities.

On the Day of Liberation of that country, in the end of November that year, Kim Jong Il called on the dormitory of its students. The students were reciting a poem for Kim Jong Il.

Pyongyang Times: Regional economic development gains momentum

According to the manager of the Kangwon Provincial Power Distribution Station, the province can fully meet the demand for electric power needed for its economic development and the improvement of the local people’s living standards with the power generation capacity developed by building hydroelectric power stations by last year.

The province sufficiently supplies its areas with additionally needed electricity without having to rely on the national grid.

As a result, the areas and units of the province now plan and do new tasks at will.

The Kimhwa County Foodstuff Factory installed additional bread-making facilities to increase bread production capacity and the county’s daily necessities factory replaced the raw material mixer with the one with larger capacity and ensures its full operation to further increase the production of soap.

Kosan County, too, set up more raw materials bases last year to supply enough raw materials to its newly-built regional-industry factories and is putting in effort to install additional facilities for processing grains and oil-bearing crops from the bases.

Ichon County increased the production of fertilizer needed for farming by installing an additional production process of liquid compound fertilizer and last year it built a new artificial stone plate production base to fully supply building materials for rural housing construction.

The people of Kangwon Province, who have built strong power bases for self-sustenance, are growing thirstier for work day after day, and the economic development and improvement of the people’s living standards are being accelerated in the province. 

Pyongyang Times : Nation presses on with regional development policy

The Regional Development 20×10 Policy of the Workers’ Party of Korea aims at building modern regional-industry factories in 20 cities and counties every year and, at the same time, building modern public health facilities, leisure complexes and grain storage stations in ten years, thus achieving the simultaneous, balanced and rapid development of the whole country.

With the inauguration ceremony of the Kangdong County Hospital on November 19 last year as the starting point, there were similar ceremonies of foodstuff, daily necessities and garment factories in succession in the other cities and counties, including Sinyang, Puryong, Rangnim and Taegwan counties and City of Sinpho.

In particular, the Kangdong people’s joy grew as they came to have a modern hospital, regional-industry factories which are modern, profitable and promising and a leisure complex, which will promote their civilized cultural life, at the same time in less than a year.

An advanced medical service base was built in Kusong City, which the locals had never imagined.

The eye-opening reality, in which construction projects are completed in the year when their groundbreaking ceremonies were held, demonstrating the vigorous advance of regions, is attributable to the respected General Secretary Kim Jong Un’s ardent love for the people and his outstanding leadership.

It is his cherished desire to make sure that anyone who is born on this land would lead an affluent and civilized life thanks to the socialist policy, whether they live in the capital city or regions and in towns or remote mountain villages.

At major meetings of the Party and the state, the General Secretary indicated the tasks and ways for raising regional construction onto a higher level. Then he saw to it that materials and equipment needed for regional construction were provided on a preferential basis and visited construction sites in different parts of the country to energetically lead the work to make fresh progress in design and construction.

At the groundbreaking ceremonies for the construction of the hospital and leisure complex in Kangdong County, he made a stirring speech before digging the first spadeful of earth for groundbreaking. And he visited the relevant construction sites and that of Kusong City Hospital several times to learn in detail about the progress in the projects and give important instructions.

He also visited the construction sites of regional-industry factories in Sinyang and Pukchang counties of South Phyongan Province and in other regions to give instructions not only for the successful progress in the projects but also for the direction of their future operation, revitalization of production and development.

Indeed, the vigorous advance of regions is the fruition of his extraordinary leadership.

Looking round the foodstuff factory and leisure complex in Kangdong County which was inaugurated with splendour on December 15 last year, he said that to make a leap forward in the regional areas and provide the people with precious entities of rejuvenation and civilization is a sacred undertaking which the WPK serving the people should unconditionally and consistently push ahead without a moment’s stagnation or delay.

At the inauguration ceremony of the regional-industry factories in Sinpho City, he expressed once again the will and determination of the Party to set higher goal of regional development and take longer strides for progress to persistently attain it without an inch of deflection.

His journey of devotion to the people has thus led to their happiness and the rosy future of a prosperous country.

Admin’s note : for people who ask themselves why were I am doing such long posts recently, this is because we will enter the Workers’ Party of Korea ninth Congress and this will probably take some days before I will be able to synthetize the things of interests that were discussed during this congress.

Regarding my deduction for the congress I believe 3 things :

1. The 2021-2026 five-year plan was the first five-year plan to completely succeed since 1993. This means that this congress will be concentrated on economic growth and respect to the laws of socialism (no reforms in sight!).

2. The interventions in Ukraine will be talked over and supported which can pave the way to other protective interventions.

3. The congress will talk about the new lines regarding reunification with the south, now regarded as "hostile state".

Workers of the Musan Mining Complex are making constant innovations after carrying out their first-day production plan with success in the new year.

Officials, workers and technicians of the Open-Pit Branch Mine have intensively installed equipment including rotary type drilling machine at mining steps with favourable conditions for production and ensure their full operation to greatly boost the amount of overburden removed and the iron ore production.

Workers of the Repairs and Maintenance Branch Factory, the Bit Head Branch Factory and other units have produced all sorts of equipment and accessories in time by mobilizing the internal reserves and potentials, making a contribution to the fulfilment of their plans.

People-oriented Country

The 13th Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea held in December last year referred to the measures for actively preserving the original features of socialist society, which takes absolute service to the masses of the people as its physiology, by ensuring that the Party organizations at all levels fully meet the policy-oriented requirement of giving priority to the things that are for the masses of the people and are oriented to them.

In the DPRK giving priority to the things that are for the masses of the people and are oriented to them comes as a major policy for stepping up the revolution and construction more vigorously and giving full play to the vitality and advantages of socialism by enhancing the role of the masses.

From its early years the country has consistently adhered to the principle of regarding it as an absolute and top priority to direct major efforts to promoting the wellbeing of the masses of the people while conducting all undertakings with them at the centre of all considerations.

Although it has faced unfavourable conditions and environment and had enormous tasks to deal with, it has given priority to settling the problems of food and daily necessities for the people and steadily implemented a number of projects it had long intended to do for their good.

Over the recent years alone it has built 10 000 flats in the capital city of Pyongyang every year and modern houses in many rural areas across the country, regional-industry factories in 20 cities and counties every year since 2024 and modern healthcare facilities such as the Pyongyang General Hospital and Kangdong County Hospital in Pyongyang and regions. Moreover, it has supplied all the children around the country with dairy products and other nutritious foods regularly and all the students with uniforms, shoes, satchels and school things entirely at its expense.

It has promoted all these gigantic undertakings, not because it has something to spare or a surplus of funds in its coffer but because it intends to provide the people with a happier and more civilized life.

Therefore, the Korean Party and people unwaveringly make dynamic strides along the course of their development despite the twists and turns in their way, sharing the same destiny with each other.

Fish for the Mourners 1/2


On December 18, 2011, one day after Kim Jong Il passed away, officials received a report that the planned amount of fish arrived at a port on the east coast of Korea on the evening of the 16th.

By that time Kim Jong Un was busy due to his heavy workload, so the officials hesitated to inform him of the fact.

Actually, the fish were associated with the General's benevolent care for Pyongyang citizens.

The General had Alaska Pollack and herring been supplied to the people in the capital city, and took steps to have Alaska Pollack and herring obtained for them on the occasion of New Year's Day; at 21:13 on December 16, one day before his death, he wrote his signature on a document concerning the supply of fish.

While Kim Jong Un was briefed on the arrival of fish and the document containing the General's last signature, his yearning for the benevolent leader grew stronger.

He told officials that the fish were worth their weight in gold and they should be supplied to the people as soon as possible. And he adopted specific measures to transport them to Pyongyang by charter train.
Pyongyang citizens, still grieving over the loss of their great leader, were very surprised when they were informed about the supply of fresh fish.

Thanks to the warm affection shown by Kim Jong Un, they were supplied with fresh fish in the mourning period.
