Young People Volunteer to Work at Major Worksites of Socialist Construction

Young people in South Hamgyong Province of the DPRK have volunteered to work at major worksites of socialist construction.

Young people in Sinpho City and Ragwon County volunteered to work at offshore farms, following the example of those who voluntarily advanced into regional-industry factories in Jongphyong County.
Youths in Hamhung City went to the Ryonpho Greenhouse Farm and those in Sinhung, Yonggwang, Kowon, Hongwon and Hochon counties vowed to work at raw material base stations.

Young people in Tanchon City and Riwon, Pukchong, Toksong and other counties volunteered to work at construction brigade, school construction corps and other revolutionary posts called by the Workers' Party of Korea.

A meeting to congratulate the volunteers took place at the Hamhung Grand Theatre on January 5.

Present there were officials concerned, officials of the youth league, youth and students in the province. Certificates of petition were awarded to the volunteers to be followed by congratulatory address and speeches.

At the end of the meeting, officials and young people encouraged the volunteers leaving for new posts, presenting bouquets to them.

KCNA:Innovations Made in DPRK

The Pyongyang Electric Cable General Factory 326 is making innovations in the production of various kinds of electric cables from the beginning of the year.

The factory has scrupulously examined and repaired and operated induction furnaces and rolling mills on a scientific basis while making sure that the looping shop in charge of the first process of production gives priority to the supply of raw and other materials. It is also producing various kinds of parts necessary for the production of electric cables.

Workers of the Sunchon Limestone Mine and the Manpho August 2 Cement Factory successfully conducted their first blasting of 200 000 and 100 000 cubic meters of earth for this year, opening up the vistas of producing and supplying more cement to construction sites.

 Last year the workers of the complex overhauled the 100-ton ultra-high power electric arc furnace with success and improved the technology of operating the energy-saving oxygen-blast furnace, carrying out their yearly iron production plan.

Pyongyang Times: Self-dependence and dependence

What is essential for the development of a state is national self-dependence and its own strength. It is like a suicidal act of digging its own grave to try to depend on others by pinning its hope on them.

Self-dependence is the life and soul of the Korean people and the fundamental cornerstone of the Korean revolution.

Whenever they faced manifold difficulties and trials in the revolution and construction, they firmly believed in their own strength and powerfully accelerated the building of a thriving nation, fully displaying the true merit and spirit of the Koreans.

If they had chosen the mode of depending on others without displaying the spirit of self-dependence and the revolutionary spirit of self-reliance, they might have failed to build a socialist state which is independent in politics, self-supporting in the economy and self-reliant in defence.

Pyongyang Times: Factory strives to turn out more sought-after electric goods



The Pyongyang Automation Appliances Factory is recording high results in the production of household electric appliances.

Some products of the factory were highly praised at the light industry goods exhibition Development of Light Industry.

Examining electric cookers and fans presented by the factory, visitors unanimously said that the goods, which were made by relying on its own technology and locally-available materials, looked nice and highly efficient.

“The factory is increasing the variety of electric appliances essentially needed for people’s life and directing big efforts to improving their quality,” said manager Kim Chang Won.

It is preparing its employees as scientific personnel (…), revitalizes production.

As a result, it established a new slide bearing production process needed for the production of fans and introduced a new joining technology to increase the production of electric irons 2.5 times.

Many Rural Dwellings Built in DPRK Last Year
Pyongyang, January 6 (KCNA) -- More than 32 000 rural dwellings were built across the DPRK last year.

Many agricultural workers in different parts of the country moved into new houses.

In particular, news of moving into new houses had been reported almost every day since October, inspiring the agricultural workers across the country with confidence and optimism in a new life and civilization.

The agricultural workers, who witness the new appearance of the socialist countryside which is changing beyond recognition every year, are extending thanks to the Workers' Party of Korea for putting them forward as the owners of the new rural dwellings. -0-
