Through today's launching drill, we can confirm that a very important technology task for national defence has been carried out.

The missile soldiers showed the readiness of the DPRK's nuclear forces without regret and gave confidence in it.

Important achievements have been recently made in putting our nuclear forces on a practical basis and preparing them for an actual war. This potential is an outcome of the Party's line on building up the national defences and its policy on attaching importance to defence science and technology and a valuable result of our outstanding scientific and technological group.

We must continuously upgrade the military means, especially offensive weapon systems. It is just an essential undertaking for self-defence. In addition, to make the rivals steadily and repeatedly recognize the constant mobilization of our strategic offensive means and their fatality itself is an important and effective mode of exercising war deterrence.

KCNA:Many Units Awarded for Quality Products in DPRK

Hundreds of units in the DPRK won the December 15 Quality Medal, February 2 Goods Certification and Quality Certification last year, amid a drive for increased production and creation in all sectors and units of the national economy.

Such products as primary schoolgirl bags and lysine cakes produced at the Phyongsong Bag Factory, the Songdowon General Foodstuff Factory and other units were awarded the December 15 Quality Medal.

The Chongryu Pharmaceutical Factory and many other medicine producers won the GMP authentication for having put their production lines on a scientific and technological basis.

The Ryongaksan Spring Water Factory, the Kangso Mineral Water Factory and the Jangjasan General Foodstuff Factory won the food safety management system certificate for their advanced production lines.

Products of tens of units were registered as "February 2 Goods". They include the Songchon County Foodstuff Factory, the Songyo Knitwear Factory, the Pyongyang Corn Processing Factory, the Rason Samryong Footwear Factory and the Jongsong General Pharmaceutical Factory. This is unthinkable apart from sci-tech innovations.

Young People Volunteer to Work at Major Worksites of Socialist Construction

Young people in South Hamgyong Province of the DPRK have volunteered to work at major worksites of socialist construction.

Young people in Sinpho City and Ragwon County volunteered to work at offshore farms, following the example of those who voluntarily advanced into regional-industry factories in Jongphyong County.
Youths in Hamhung City went to the Ryonpho Greenhouse Farm and those in Sinhung, Yonggwang, Kowon, Hongwon and Hochon counties vowed to work at raw material base stations.

Young people in Tanchon City and Riwon, Pukchong, Toksong and other counties volunteered to work at construction brigade, school construction corps and other revolutionary posts called by the Workers' Party of Korea.

A meeting to congratulate the volunteers took place at the Hamhung Grand Theatre on January 5.

Present there were officials concerned, officials of the youth league, youth and students in the province. Certificates of petition were awarded to the volunteers to be followed by congratulatory address and speeches.

At the end of the meeting, officials and young people encouraged the volunteers leaving for new posts, presenting bouquets to them.
