KCNA:Iran rejects US’ threat of war

The Iranian permanent representative to the United Nations condemned the US for its threat of war of aggression in a letter sent to UN officials on February 19.

He disclosed that the US is stepping up the preparations for military aggression while steadily reinforcing its troops in the Middle East.

If Iran takes a defensive countermeasure under such circumstances, all the bases, facilities and assets of the hostile forces in the region will be its legitimate targets and the US will be wholly to blame for the unpredictable and uncontrollable consequences, he warned.

And he stressed that threats and acts of aggression based on strength should not be regarded as a normal and legitimate practice or a means of foreign policy.

Recently I got a strong impression watching in China the DPRK’s TV programme The Era of Comprehensive Socialist Development.

I was really enthralled to see the whole of the DPRK seething with creation and innovation in the era of great transformation. In a word, I felt as if I saw the rosy future of the country dynamically advancing towards comprehensive rejuvenation.

In retrospect, the 80-year ruling history of the Workers’ Party of Korea is literally a turbulent history of the revolutionary struggle, a proud journey of succession along which the Juche-oriented revolutionary force has been steadily built up by dint of the leader’s ideology, and a miraculous long march during which the leader and the masses of the people have achieved a single-minded unity to create the Korean-style socialist civilization in a constant manner.

Thanks to the outstanding revolutionary leadership of President Kim Il Sung, Chairman Kim Jong Il and the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un, who built the DPRK by authoring the Juche idea, defended it by setting forth the Songun idea and leads the country towards prosperity on the strength of the people-first idea, the DPRK has been finally able to greet the new era of comprehensive development or overall rejuvenation.
As a follower of the Juche philosophy, I could not help but focus on the issue of how to understand, study and explore the new era of comprehensive socialist development in the DPRK.

Due to COVID-19 I have not been to the DPRK for nearly six years, so I greatly lacked knowledge about the country’s reality. But I have sorted out what I have witnessed, heard and felt via different channels and put them in writing.

Understanding of Concept of “Overall Social Development”

“Overall social development” is a general concept that all the fields of society including politics, the economy, culture, ecology and livelihood achieve a harmonious growth and improvement as a whole, and it emphasizes balance, inclusiveness and sustainability in development.

This is not simply about economic growth but more about qualitative improvement of entire society and overall human development. In other words, “overall social development” is aimed at building a more stable and robust community by making systematic progress that takes account of efficiency and fairness, present and future, materials and spirit in all.
The DPRK’s theory of the comprehensive socialist development encompasses all the contents of the concept of “overall social development,” and it also highlights definite qualities related to the people, struggle, direction and revolution.

The DPRK’s comprehensive socialist development means to build a community in which all the fields of society including politics, national defence, the economy and culture develop in a simultaneous and balanced way, a community of miracles and transformations in which both the capital and regions change alike, a thriving community in which a remarkable positive change takes place in the people’s ideological and spiritual aspects to steadily boost their revolutionary enthusiasm and fighting morale, and a comprehensively developed nation that achieves overall socialist rejuvenation to demonstrate the dignity and prestige of the powerful nation of Kim Jong Un before the whole world.

Features of Theory of Comprehensive Socialist Development

When you read essays and editorials explaining the DPRK’s comprehensive socialist development and look into the achievements made in the country’s revolutionary practice, you can tell that it is evidently developing the whole of society across the board on the basis of its own ideology and theory and in its own way.

First, the theory of comprehensive socialist development is featured by its originality.

This is a theory of Korean-style comprehensive socialist development, the first of its kind, advanced by the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un who leads the DPRK towards prosperity by administering the people-first political mode. The ideological starting point of the theory is not based on the Marxist theory of comprehensive human development, but it is an outcome of the people-first idea of believing in people as in Heaven and serving them devotedly, a revolutionary idea that suits the actual situation of the DPRK and originates from the Juche idea. In terms of composition and content, the theory is original and definite in people-oriented, revolutionary and socialist characters.

In consideration of the initiative of the programme for rural revolution in the new era and the Regional Development 20×10 Policy and the course of their implementation, you can fully notice that this approach is an original way of achieving comprehensive development that cannot be found elsewhere in the world but can only be adopted by the DPRK.
Second, the theory is characterized by a unique and effective way of implementation.

The DPRK is seeking comprehensive social development as suited to its actual situation and by relying on its own revolutionary force, not by dint of capital or the principle of the market economy. This is the fundamental feature that distinguishes it from capitalist society.

At present, the DPRK is carrying out a great revolution to develop its regions and transform its countryside.

This bid is geared to bridging the economic and cultural gap between towns and rural areas, between the capital and the regions, as early as possible and making the whole of the country develop in a balanced and even manner.

For regional construction army units are dispatched, all units in cities are mobilized and brisk motivational activities are conducted in every workplace–a scene that the entire country seems to form a grand socialist family. This cannot be found in other places of the world.

The DPRK’s brilliant achievements in construction in Kim Jong Un’s era are enough to make all understand how inexhaustible the strength of the masses of the people educated and armed with the leader’s revolutionary idea is.

It is a well-known fact that numerous monumental edifices have sprung up in recent years across the country from the city of Samjiyon to the Wonsan Kalma Coastal Tourist Area.

The parliament of an advanced Western country has dealt with an underground railway renovation project for over a decade but it still fails to reach an agreement. However, the DPRK ensures that the groundbreaking ceremony of a large-scale project is soon followed by the inauguration one in the new era of comprehensive socialist development. Given this, there is no way to compare the two countries in terms of the rate and efficiency of social development.

I’ve no doubt that the DPRK will soon develop into a nation in which everyone leads an equally affluent and happy life, exciting the world’s envy.

Third, the theory of the comprehensive socialist development is characterized by the sustainability of the overall rejuvenation that is achieved with change and progress in ideology and consciousness.

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un said

Even an egg, when charged with ideology, can break a rock.

In the new era of comprehensive socialist development the DPRK has seen a remarkably positive change in the ideological and spiritual aspects of all the members of its society and a steady boost in their revolutionary enthusiasm and fighting spirit.

The forces hostile towards the DPRK are still leaving no stone unturned to tarnish the image of the latter’s socialist system. They are afraid that it advances towards comprehensive development and overall rejuvenation.
For example, a research institute of a country hostile towards the DPRK released a full-length study in late March 2022, which is entitled “The meaning and suggestion of the DPRK’s theory of comprehensive socialist development.”

I found out an interesting paragraph in the study, which reads:

The theory of the comprehensive socialist development is meaningful as it is a line on balanced development that corrects the existing line on imbalanced development. As the complete victory of socialism and the building of communism have revived to be the goal of the revolution, there is some concern that the theory may become both the ‘Party’s idea’ and ‘Kim Jong Un’s idea.’ In particular, though untimely, it may be needed to reshape the awareness of our society with regard to the system in the DPRK after the Cold War as its movement of the rural reform proceeds in the future.

This flatly tells that the hostile forces do not entirely want the DPRK to thrive and, furthermore, they most fear that Korean society is modelled on “Kim Jong Un’s idea.”

In this sense, the incessant cycle of groundbreaking and inauguration ceremonies held up and down the country can be considered an outright contempt for and heavy blow to the hostile forces.

Today, given that it has entered a new era of comprehensive socialist development, the DPRK’s future will be decided by what kind of idea the Korean youth shouldering the future are armed with and how much positive change is brought to their ideological consciousness. In a word, only when they are firmly armed with Kim Jong Un’s revolutionary idea, will they be able to cultivate unrivalled courage and mettle to raise their country’s position as a political and military power and achieve a rapid, sustainable economic growth and a brilliant socialist cultural development by dint of their resourceful wisdom and diligence.

The current world order is so confused, and the people in many countries are plagued by war and economic recession.

In contrast, greeting the new era of comprehensive socialist development, the DPRK is dynamically advancing towards a rosy future.

Evidently, the competition for ascendancy in national power has never ceased among countries in the world and everyone knows the law of the jungle still prevails in the international order.

The DPRK boasts unity in ideology, a national strength unique to it, which is an all-mighty treasured sword that works a heroic miracle when applied to battlefields and helps boost productivity when applied to economic construction.

The heroic Korean people will remain united in single mind to demonstrate the dignity and prestige of the powerful nation of Kim Jong Un before the world, and surely build a country of the people, a country which develops in a comprehensive and sustainable manner, in the foreseeable future.

On February 16, a splendid inauguration ceremony of 10 000 flats at the fourth stage in the Hwasong area was held in the DPRK’s capital city of Pyongyang.

This marked the successful conclusion of the five-year plan for capital city construction set forth by the Eighth Congress of the Workers’ Party of Korea in January 2021.

In the name of the congress, the WPK made a promise to the Korean people to build 50 000 modern flats in five years, or 10 000 a year, in Pyongyang.

The 50 000-flat construction was not only a project that the Party had long intended, prepared for and aspired to in order to provide the Pyongyang citizens with more cultured and stable living conditions, but also a noble work to make the state’s assets and outcome of creative labour of the working people contribute to their wellbeing.

Consequently, a groundbreaking ceremony for the project to build 10 000 flats took place every year. The first groundbreaking ceremony was held in March 2021.

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un attended groundbreaking ceremonies for building a new street to make a speech full of confidence and enthusiasm, digging the first spadeful of earth and pressing the blast button.

He examined thousands of layouts for street formation and solved all problems concerning the construction projects.

During the period of five-year plan almost 10 000 flats were built in addition to those in Songhwa Street and the Hwasong area where 50 000 flats were planned to be built. During the five years, amid a cycle of groundbreaking and inauguration, Pyongyang has changed beyond recognition.
