Admin’s note: a propaganda article of south-Korean sites about DPRK healthcare

I usually don’t like debunking anti-DPRK lies because they are mostly founded on insanity, racism, jokes, etc. and that debunking them means taking them seriously (and I don’t read the South Korean and Japanese gossips). I did it for Squid Games But here I must talk about North 38.

I read a lot of North 38 articles. It is a South-Korean site that is probably the most objective one on DPRK, but still limited by the anti-communist laws

An interesting article was released about healthcare, to prove the improvement of health facilities since the start of 20x10 policy.

But complete absurdities are being spread. Outside of defectors being the only sources of informations about DPRK economy, Covid being overstated, etc. This part is fascinating to show how propaganda is built.

Prior to the formal declaration of the 2025 Health Revolution, significant rhetorical and administrative shifts were already underway in North Korean health policy. Most notably, the phrase ” Universal Free Healthcare System”—long a hallmark of the regime’s socialist identity and propaganda—has effectively vanished from state media.

Furthermore, the state-run “Standard Pharmacies,” which began installation under Kim’s orders in May 2022, were established in all cities and counties by 2024. Notably, these state-operated entities sell medicine for profit rather than distributing it for free.

In this context, Kim Jong Un’s policy speech at the 14th Supreme People’s Assembly 10th Session in 2024 is telling. He instructed officials to ensure that the “health security system based on a health insurance fund, which is being expanded nationwide, is implemented without deviation.” This is noteworthy as it suggests the possibility of a new financing source emerging to replace the existing Universal Free Healthcare System.

This is rather simple : during the 2010s, against the black market that was strengthening, Respected comrade Kim Jong Un reconstructed the state distribution of goods and social services that provides for free education, job, housing, healthcare, holidays, cultural facilities and many other rationed goods. May I remind you that DPRK has no taxes.

But the question that DPRK had to resolve was : how to prevent the people who enriched themselves through black market/paying goods at the black market to accumulate wealth when socialist distribution has the basic function of selling way more cheaper than the black market?

Ko Jong Bom, on the fulfillment of the state budget for 2023 at the 10th Session of 14th SPA, had an answer:

Last year, warship fund, childcare fund, helping one another fund, socialist patriotic fund and other fund campaigns were launched in the whole society amid the fierce flames of the socialist patriotic movement and revolutionary mass movement, thus contributing to the prosperity and development of the country.

Basically, the profiteers and people who no more rely on Arduous March are giving voluntary donations in order to improve social services. So let’s be clear : healthcare remains free, as it is a constitutional principle in DPRK, there is no tax, nothing to pay outside of voluntary donations rich people can choose to make.

KCNA:Successes Made in Metal Industry of DPRK

With a resolve to greet the Ninth Congress of the Workers' Party of Korea with proud successes in increased production, the metallurgical industry sector of the DPRK is strengthening the material and technical foundations to activate production.

The Kim Chaek Iron and Steel Complex has striven to improve the management of equipment and manpower and the technical control and further perfect the Korean-style iron- and steel-making methods.

The Hwanghae Iron and Steel Complex has introduced rational inventions conducive to raising the operating level of energy-saving oxygen heat blast furnace, putting the blending of charge and furnace operation on a scientific basis according to the changes of indices such as temperature, humidity and grade and thus turning out a lot of molten iron every day.
The Chollima Steel Complex is producing different grades and sizes of rolled steel needed for various economic sectors, while raising the actual operation rate and ensuring the process-by-process engagement by checking up equipment in a responsible manner.

The Posan Iron Works, the Hungnam Electrode Factory and the Chongjin Steel Plant are enhancing the safety and efficiency of overall production processes and improving the actual extraction rate of products by conducting quality control in a responsible manner.

The Musan Mining Complex has raised the capacity for removing barren soil and made accessories for equipment by itself to provide a guarantee for increased production.

Unnyul, Jangsan, Ramjong and Taesong mines have improved mining conditions and increased the output of iron ore and fire-proof materials by operating excavators, compressors and vehicles at full capacity and introducing rational working methods.

KCNA:Nyomaeng" Small Tractors Conveyed to Farms in S. Hwanghae Province

"Nyomaeng" small tractors, provided by women's union organizations through a do-good-thing movement with the Ninth Congress of the Workers' Party of Korea as an occasion, were conveyed to farms in South Hwanghae Province of the DPRK.

Ceremonies for conveying the tractors took place at the Haean Farm in Jangyon County and the Sinphung Farm in Chongdan County on February 9.

Present there were Han Kwang Ho, vice department director of the WPK Central Committee, Jon Hyang Sun, chairwoman of the C.C., Socialist Women's Union of Korea, officials concerned and agricultural workers and women's union members in the counties.

At the ceremonies speakers noted that the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un saw to it that the small tractors were sent to the said farms.

They said that the women's union officials and members should cherish patriotism and conduct various mass movements briskly and thus contribute to turning the countryside into a socialist ideal one, good to live in and highly civilized.

After the ceremonies the participants looked round the small tractors.
