🎦 The Lonely Sanctuary | Haj Mahmoud Karimi

Jannat al-Baqi is the oldest and the first Islamic cemetery located in the city of Medina.

It is the resting place of many companions, friends, and relatives of the holy Prophet Muhammad (S), including his grandchildren and great children, namely Imam Hasan ibn Ali al-Mujtaba (A), Imam Ali ibn Husayn al-Sajjad (A), Imam Muhammad ibn Ali al-Baqir (A), and Imam Ja'far ibn Muhammad al-Sadiq (A).

According to some traditions, it is also said to contain the grave of the holy Prophet's daughter, lady Fatima Zahra (A). Other traditions say that lady Fatime Zahra (A)'s grave is in the vicinity of Al-Baqi cemetery - unidentified.

The iconic and revered cemetery was demolished by the Saudi-Wahhabi coalition once in 1806 and a second time in 1925.

Both Sunnis and Shias have protested against the demolition and desecration of this holy heritage site.

This latmiyya by Haj Mahmoud Karimi describes the land of sand, full of grief and sorrow, next to the green dome of the holy Prophet Muhammad (S).

But worry not, for soon will come a voice that will announce the rising of the son of Fatima (A) and he will rebuild the shrines and mausoleums of Jannat al-Baqi.
