Here's what's really going on. Ahrefs shows you what its crawler found. Google Search Console shows you what Google actually counted. They're never the same.

— GSC's Links report lists referring domains Ahrefs sometimes never indexed — internal-network stuff, weird TLDs, fresh placements.
— Ahrefs catches links GSC buries or de-weights, the ones Google quietly ignores.
— The smart move: diff the two. Domains in Ahrefs but not GSC? Possibly disavowed-by-default by Google already. Domains in GSC but not Ahrefs? Your real, counted equity.

Multiple profiles confirm the gap runs 15-30% either direction. Auditing competitors? You only get Ahrefs — fine. Auditing yourself? GSC is the ground truth, Ahrefs is the rumor mill. Run both. Watch this space.
