Hi guys hope you all have had a wonderful bank holiday weekend!

As many of you guys know proppr.io and the Cerbro model is what powers @PropprPlayerBot and @PropprTeamBot.

It is time we venture over the pond into the land of 🇺🇸 and first start the mission to 🏀.

Now for those who know me personally Proppr was a passion project around my love and knowledge of ⚽️.

But there's no shame in admitting American sports are not my cup of tea, whilst the logic wont change too much I want to make sure I don't miss anything.

I aiming to have this bot and future bots have a level of detail of the highest standards with some features never seen before across any available tools already on the market.

🏀 We’re building an NBA player projections bot and want your feedback.

We already project a player based on their usual averages, but we’re testing extra modifiers that can push that projection up or down depending on the matchup.

Simple example

Let’s say a player is normally projected for 20 points.

Now imagine:
- he usually scores better at home
- the opponent is weak against his position
- one of his high-usage teammates is out
- but the game has some blowout risk

So instead of just leaving him at 20 points, the bot might adjust him upward for the good matchup and teammate absence, then slightly downward for blowout risk.

That could turn:
20.0 points → 23.5 projected points

So the idea is:
start with the player’s normal average, then adjust based on what is different about tonight’s game.

The modifiers we’re currently testing

1. Opponent H2H modifier
How this player has performed against this specific team in the past.

2. Home/Away modifier
Whether they usually perform better at home or away.

3. Opponent defensive modifier (position-based)
How well the opponent defends this player’s position.

4. Player vs defender modifier
Whether a likely main defender has historically made things easier or harder for them.

5. Teammate impact modifier
How their stats change when certain teammates are out, in, or playing bigger minutes.

6. Minutes modifier
If we expect them to play more or fewer minutes than usual, that can change everything.

7. Shot type compatibility modifier
Does the player’s scoring style match up well or badly against what the opponent usually gives up?

8. Pace modifier
Fast games usually create more chances for points, rebounds, and assists.

Example of a ripple effect

This is another part we’re building:

If one player’s expected minutes change, it can affect multiple other players too.

For example:

Yves Missi is expected to play 27 minutes instead of 20

That could mean:
- Missi’s own rebounds and blocks go up
- his teammates may lose some paint touches or rebound chances
- opposing players may find it harder to score inside or grab boards against him

So one update can create a chain reaction across the whole game, not just one player.

A few extra modifiers we’re also considering

- Blowout risk
Stars may lose minutes if the game gets out of hand.

- Close game boost
Top players often stay on the floor longer in competitive games.

- Usage/role change
A player can get the same minutes but more shots, more touches, or more ball-handling responsibility.

- Back-to-back / fatigue
Some players perform differently with less rest.

- Return from injury / minutes restriction
Important for players who are active but not fully back to normal.

- Foul trouble risk
Some matchups make it more likely a player loses minutes through fouls.

This boost makes a lot of sense because Fernandes plays with proper bite. He’s a duel heavy midfielder, racks tackles, and isn’t shy of stopping transitions early which is exactly how you end up landing 3+ fouls.

✅ 3+ landed 3 of last 10
But the bigger takeaway is consistency, he’s sitting at 2 fouls in loads of games, so you’re never far away from the line.

Matchup role data also points the right way
🧩 RDM vs Wolves 3, 4, 2, 4, 2, 2
That’s a nice trend that Wolves matches can force players into foul trouble.

Just realised today is the last day of the NBA regular season so I’ve put the bot into beta mode to let you guys try it out for tonight
