Pixel 4a battery update was due to overheating risk
Source

The Australian Competition & Consumer Commission’s Product Safety regulator shared a “Project Safety Recall’ notice on March 7 for Google Pixel 4a which noted that the “firmware update provides new battery management features to mitigate the risk of overheating.” In general, an “overheating battery could pose a risk of fire and/or burns to a user.”

Google dual sourced battery for the Pixel 4a for cost cutting. The ATL battery models 4a are unaffected and going well as usual. However, with the Lishen battery model, there was a risk for overheating and thus Google pushed an update which reduced the battery capacity of the device and impacted the charging performance as well.

In return, Google offered compensation in terms of battery replacement or 50$ payment or 100$ discount code on the purchase of a new pixel device.

In a move to completely copy Apple 1:1, Oppo had decided to remove Alert Slider in favour of customisable button, basically seen as Action button on iPhones. OnePlus has now officially announced the transition.

The new Alert Slider of OnePlus will be called the Rubik's Cube Key. It's main functions:
• One-click mute
• Turn on the flash
• Take screenshots
• Take photos
• Translate
• Customize to quick-launch apps
