Microsoft has reportedly canceled its internal project for a portable Xbox console, shifting focus to refining its Xbox software platform and collaborating with partners like ASUS. While earlier rumors suggested the project was only delayed, recent reports indicate it's now effectively abandoned. This move is likely in response to competition from SteamOS, which offers better gaming performance on portables than Windows. However, some sources suggest Microsoft may still create such a handheld console in the future, much like the ASUS ROG Xbox Ally — toward PC-style gaming rather than focusing on native Xbox titles. Microsoft has not officially commented on the rumors.
