MediaTek Dimensity 9400+ and 9400e Announced
MediaTek Dimensity 9400+ is a minor improvement over Dimensity 9400 with its 1x Cortex-X925 core clocked at up to 3.73 GHz, higher than the 3.63 GHz of the 9400.
Apart from that, there is a MediaTek Adaptive Gaming Technology (MAGT) 3.0 and it also offers 20% faster agentic AI performance with Speculative Decoding+ (SpD+). It has extended support for direct phone-to-phone BT connections with upto 10KM in line of sight, up from 1.5KM on Dimensity 9400.
Dimensity 9400e on the other hand is nothing new but rebranded version of Dimensity 9300+ with minor changes such as faster 7.3Gbps Wi-Fi peak data, latest Bluetooth 6.0 & MediaTek NeuroPilot SDK support. MediaTek Frame Rate Converter has also been added which is absent from Dimensity 9300+. Everything else like the GPU, CPU cores and its config along with its clock speed, remains the same as the Dimensity 9300+.
Thus, MediaTek is even rebranding their flagship SoCs 💀

MediaTek Helio G200 4G Announced as Rebranded Helio G99 of 2022
MediaTek Helio can never die till rebranding exists!
Now, instead of adding 5G to its Helio series to developed cheaper 5G SoCs for budget phones, MediaTek chose to introduce a new 4G SoC which in reality is a rebranded 3 year old SoC.
MediaTek 200 although may seem huge upgrade due to G100 -> G200, but with MediaTek, higher number generally means recycling. G200 is still manufactured on the same old 6nm node, on which 3yr old G99 was built on. Next, MediaTek introduced Helio G100 back in 2024 which added 200MP camera support, the G200 improves on that with 12-bit DCG support for better HDR in videos. Additionally, G200 GPU runs at 0.1GHz faster clock speed.
The only new thing is the 4G DC SAR technology which “enhances the experience of popular social & messaging apps like Facebook, Whatsapp etc. in remote areas & regions with weak cellular signals”. It does so by reducing latency by 30% & by improving reception range.

TeleMessage Explorer: a new open source research tool
I've spent the last week or two writing code to make sense of the massive hack of data from TeleMessage, the comically insecure company that makes a modified Signal app that Trump's former national security advisor Mike Waltz was caught using. I've decided…

TSMC Bets on Unorthodox Optical Tech
In a bold move, TSMC partners with Avicena to revolutionize AI data centers using microLED-based interconnects. Ditching lasers for LEDs, this tech promises energy efficiency and lower costs, at the expense of more fibers. Could this be the future of AI scale…

Launchpad Search - Shortcuts
Launchpad Search can replace your digital assistant and give you full control over your search queries. If you prefer to keep your current assistant, you can still enjoy Launchpad by adding a home screen shortcut or a Quick Setting Tile. Never leave your apps; get your tasks done with just a floating window that does it all for you without ever closing the one you're already in.
