🚨 You’re not running a security team. You're the security team.

One inbox. One admin panel. A hundred fire drills. Google Workspace helps—but attackers slip through the cracks.

🔍 Identity is the new perimeter.
🔐 MFA, context-aware access, DLP—start there.
🛠️ Then, monitor, review, remediate.

You don’t need perfection. You need visibility and control.

The Redis developers have reversed their previous decision, and the popular in-memory database is now available under a true open source license. The introduction of the AGPLv3 license opens the way for community contributions again.

Return to open source

Redis is a blazing-fast key-value database that is popularly used for caching, session management, and real-time data processing. Millions of services, including GitHub, Netflix, Snapchat, and Pokémon Go, rely on Redis for their performance when it comes to user response time or real-time data processing.

In 2024, Redis abandoned true open source and introduced two source-available licenses: RSALv2 and SSPLv1. Although these allowed for the study of the source code, they did not meet the criteria set by the Open Source Initiative (OSI). The move caused a serious backlash, and many developers turned away from the project.

Redis Open Source: new name, old principles

The developers have now returned to their community roots. The former “Redis Community Edition” is now available as Redis Open Source, under the AGPLv3 license – a strong copyleft license approved by the OSI.

The change came with the release of Redis version 8, which also brought more than 30 performance improvements, faster commands, and new data structures.

Why did they switch back?

Redis CEO Rowan Trollope commented on the decision:

“After a year of exploring options, we decided to license the SSPL in March 2024 because we wanted to get providers like AWS and Google to maintain their own versions of Redis. We did that, but our relationship with the community deteriorated significantly. Since the SSPL is not a true open source license, we are returning to the direction approved by the OSI.”

A new chance for community trust

A significant part of the community criticized the previous move, and many even turned away from the project. This change may provide an opportunity for Redis to re-establish its place in the open source ecosystem – and regain the trust of developers. 🤣😂

⚠️Hackers BROKE INTO into Signal-like app used by Trump’s ex-national security adviser

TeleMessage's backend infrastructure and some of its users' messages were compromised following the hack, according to the Media 404 tech website.

Then-National Security Advisor Mike Waltz was photographed using TeleMessage during last Wednesday’s Cabinet meeting.

Shortly after, Trump announced the dismissal of Waltz, the main figure in the scandal with the leak of classified information through the Signal messenger.

On March 24, Atlantic editor-in-chief Jeffrey Goldberg said he was accidentally added by Waltz to a private Signal chat about planned strikes on the Houthis, which included top officials like Defense Secretary Hegseth, Secretary of State Rubio, and Vice President Vance.
