Brave Software is backed by Peter Thiel’s Founders Fund, Pantera Capital, Digital Currency Group, Pathfinder, Foundation Capital, Rising Tide, Hone Capital, and Propel Venture Partners. Thiel was also an early investor in Facebook and Bitcoin.

Starting with version 1.26 in June 2021, Brave Browser promoted the FTX crypto exchange with a widget on the new tab page, asking users to connect their FTX accounts to “view account balance, explore futures markets, and convert crypto.” FTX famously exploded in November 2022. Brave removed the FTX widget soon afterward, but as far as I’m aware, there was never an apology for directing users to FTX’s services for over a year.

The fourth season of the Brave Marketer Podcast in 2022 included an episode with Steven Kalifowitz, then-CMO at Crypto.com, in which he shared “the strategies and tactics he’s implementing on his team’s quest to become a world renowned brand like Coke and Netflix.” The Financial Times reported in 2023 that Crypto.com was trading against its own customers, and in 2022, the company attempted to hide the full scale of its layoffs.

Brave has an extensive partnership with Gemini, a crypo exchange, which powers widgets in the browser and external wallet support for BAT. Gemini is a crypto exchange, and the SEC charged Gemini for offering unregistered securities in January 2023, and that same month, New York regulators started investigating claims that Gemini lied to customers about their deposits being FDIC-insured.

Here's a bonus fun fact: one of those early investors was Founders Fund, which is operated by billionaire Peter Thiel. He's a regular campaign donor to far-right political candidates, and said in an essay that "I no longer think that freedom and democracy are compatible." He also keeps funding libertarian “seasteading” ships designed to function as independent cities in international waters (think BioShock), all of which have failed miserably.

Brave browser funded by DoD contractor Palantir Technologies
By August 2016, the company had received at least US$7 million in angel investments from venture capital firms, including Peter Thiel's Founders Fund, Propel Venture Partners, Pantera Capital, Foundation Capital, and the Digital Currency Group.

Here’s an archived version of Brave’s Wikipedia article in case that information disappears somehow See the section #Business model
https://web.archive.org/web/20200227000950/https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brave_(web_browser)
Peter Thiel is the chairman of Palantir Technologies. Wikipedia describes Palantir Technologies like this:
https://web.archive.org/web/20200128121847/https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Palantir_Technologies

Palantir Technologies is a private American software company that specializes in big data analytics. Headquartered in Palo Alto, California, it was founded by Peter Thiel, Nathan Gettings, Joe Lonsdale, Stephen Cohen, and Alex Karp.
Further along the Wikipedia article, some interesting stuff starts coming up
:
The company is known for three projects in particular: Palantir Gotham, Palantir Metropolis and Palantir Foundry. Palantir Gotham is used by counter-terrorism analysts at offices in the United States Intelligence Community (USIC) and United States Department of Defense, fraud investigators at the Recovery Accountability and Transparency Board, and cyber analysts at Information Warfare Monitor, while Palantir Metropolis is used by hedge funds, banks, and financial services firms.

Wake Up
Some custom ROMs that users install GSI on their kernels lock the CPU frequency at maximum by default. This means that the device runs at full power all the time, even when idle, leading to excessive heat, high battery consumption, and reduced hardware lifespan.

But why do some developers do this? Contrary to what some might think, this is not for improving user experience or device longevity. Their main goal is to create a fast and smooth appearance so that when users benchmark or navigate the system, everything feels snappy and responsive. However, this is just a marketing trick, as it puts unnecessary stress on the CPU and other components.

To properly manage CPU performance and prevent device damage, users should use tools like EX Kernel Manager or Franco Kernel Manager. These apps allow you to:
-- Adjust CPU frequency optimally to prevent overheating.
-- Choose the right Governor (such as "schedutil" or "interactive") for a balance between performance and battery life.
-- Undervolt the CPU to reduce power consumption.
-- Disable unnecessary Wake Locks to extend battery life.

So, don’t be fooled by the artificially fast performance of some ROMs. No developer cares about your device’s health—it’s up to you to take control and ensure optimal performance without sacrificing longevity.
