An official from Meta's WhatsApp chat service has told Reuters that the company detected an attempt by Israeli spyware company Paragon Solutions to hack 90 users on its platform.

The official added that WhatsApp had sent Paragon a cease-and-desist letter following the hack.

The official said that the hack had targeted civil society and media figures, but declined to provide further information.

A few things to point out from my team's research into AI for our industry: DeepSeek's "performance" depends on the use of the DeepSeek frontend. Holdovers and people who don't want to follow compliance and orders are going to test the limits, putting the DoD's own cybersecurity on notice and in danger.

Another thing to point out about NVIDIA: Their CEO recently thanked Chinese workers and the Chinese government in the last few days for continued loyalty and contributing to the advancement of AI, despite their stock temporarily tanking 18%. Any other CEO would be in damage control, but instead this guy's praising China. If Trump wants to look at how we've lost our technological edge, start looking at people like Jensen Huang. This DeepSeek smells more like NVIDIA back door gifted China the hardware and knowledge for them to build their own AI; it's free publicity and thumbing his nose at the US government.

Spyware maker Paragon terminates contract with Italian government: media reports | TechCrunch

"Paragon Solutions, a startup that sells access to surveillance technologies including phone spyware, has cut ties with the Italian government, according to reports in The Guardian and Haaretz.

On Thursday, citing an anonymous source, The Guardian reported Paragon had first suspended its contract with Italy on Friday after WhatsApp said it had disrupted a hacking campaign leveraging the Israeli startup’s spyware targeting around 90 people. On Wednesday, Paragon terminated the contract once the company determined that the Italian government had broken “the terms of service and ethical framework it had agreed under its Paragon contract,” according to the British newspaper."
