In search of a faster SQLite - blag
Researchers at the University of Helsinki and Cambridge attempted to build a faster SQLite using modern programming paradigms like io_uring and disaggregated storage. They demonstrate up to a 100x reduction in tail latency. These are my notes.

The Qualcomm NoviSpy scandal explained in brief!
Recently a zero-day bug was marked in Qualcomm by Google Project Zero in October (it received a patch in November.) with code CVE-2024-43047.
Seems fine, no? Well, the Serbian government deployed a spyware named NoviSpy which utilises this exploit and targets many people including journalists, human rights activists and government dissidents.
It is said that NoviSpy was installed on many devices over the last few years. The number may range in hundreds.
The spyware works by communicating with BIA servers while configuration data links to a specific person.
This is just bad for Qualcomm, honestly.

Geo Share (Enhanced Post)
Geo Share gets the geographical coordinates required to create a geo: link by parsing the Google Maps URL.
But not all Google Maps URLs contain coordinates, so in such cases Geo Share communicates with Google to read the coordinates from the HTTP headers or the HTML document of the Google Maps link.

The Linux Terminal app is finally working in Android 15 QPR2 Beta 2!
As I first reported, this is an all-in-one app that downloads, configures, runs, and interfaces with an instance of Debian running a virtual machine. It uses the Android Virtualization Framework APIs that Google introduced in Android 13 but updated in Android 15.
Right now, there's not much you can do with this since hardware acceleration support and support for running graphical environments is missing, but both of these things are being worked on.

The "Themed icons" toggle in Wallpaper & style no longer has the "Beta" label in Android 15 QPR2 Beta 2.
It's about time. It made sense for the Themed Icon feature to be labeled "Beta" in Android 12 since the list of themeable icons was hardcoded, but Android 13 added a proper API and all, and it's been over 2 years since that release.
