Marathon OS is an early-stage independent mobile Linux distro aiming to recreate the ultra-fluid, gesture-driven experience of BlackBerry 10 on modern smartphones.

Key features:
- Built on postmarketOS (Alpine Linux) + mainline kernel (no Android blobs)
- Immutable root, atomic updates, full-disk encryption, app sandboxing
- Custom Qt6/Wayland compositor with pure bezel-swipe navigation (no on-screen buttons)
- Focus on privacy, performance, and BB10-like smoothness

Current status (Nov 2025):
- Actively developed, no public images yet
- Testing mainly on OnePlus 6/6T (SD845): 20–25s boot, 10–15ms touch latency, 60 FPS UI
- Targets devices with good mainline support (SD845/855 era)
- Native Linux apps priority; Android compatibility planned but low-priority
