💻 Laptop Tracking in Schools
Most of the tracking on school laptops happens through the browser. Every website a student visits, how long they stay there, and even the type of page can be logged and displayed on a dashboard for teachers or IT administrators.
Some schools also use silent remote viewing, allowing teachers to beam into a student’s screen—sometimes without the student even knowing. In many cases, this extends beyond the classroom into the home.
While these measures are framed as protecting students, they create serious risks for privacy and trust.
Parents and educators deserve to know what’s happening on these devices—and that there are safer solutions.
