In a new blog post, they call out Microsoft’s proprietary OOXML format as bloated and intentionally over-complicated—more than 6,000 pages of specs compared to just 867 for the open document format (ODF).
Why? To lock users into Microsoft Office and make it nearly impossible for open source alternatives to compete.
LibreOffice says it’s time to break free from Microsoft’s ecosystem and embrace open standards.
