Remember the Google Jamboard?

That $5,000 digital whiteboard that Google killed off last year?

Three LineageOS developers have brought it back to life! Instead of throwing it out, you can turn it into a cartoonishly large Android tablet or run Android TV on it.

RIP: Google has confirmed that it isn't currently working on a new tablet until it "figures out a meaningful future for the category."

The company also confirmed it isn't developing a smart ring, either.

Oooh. Google Play will require developers submitting TV apps (with native code in them) to provide 64-bit versions starting August 1, 2026, in preparation for "upcoming 64-bit Google TV and Android TV devices."

Are we going to start seeing new TV devices with more RAM soon?

๐Ÿˆ๐Ÿ’น Some Pixel owners are getting a more powerful At A Glance widget

Sports and Finance cards are now appearing in the At a Glance space for some Pixel owners.

Received a few tips of this yesterday. LMK if you have this as well!

โž• One year ago, the French police detained me for 4 days because some people Iโ€™d never heard of used Telegram to coordinate crimes. Arresting a CEO of a major platform over the actions of its users was not only unprecedented โ€” it was legally and logically absurd.

A year later, the โ€˜criminal investigationโ€™ against me is still struggling to find anything that I or Telegram did wrong. Our moderation practices align with industry standards, and Telegram has always responded to every legally binding request from France.

Ironically, I was arrested due to the French policeโ€™s own mistake: before August 2024, they ignored French and EU laws and hadnโ€™t sent any of their queries to Telegram via the required legal process. They could have learned the correct procedure simply by googling it or asking.

One year after this strange arrest, I still have to return to France every 14 days, with no appeal date in sight. Sadly, the only outcome of my arrest so far has been massive damage to Franceโ€™s image as a free country. ๐Ÿ›

๐ŸŽงAndroid will soon let you decide if your Pixel can lower your loud headphone volume

To abide by regulatory requirements, Google in Android 14 QPR1 added a "sound exposure notifications" feature that not only warns you about prolonged exposure to loud audio but can automatically lower your headphone's volume to protect your hearing.

Currently, there's no way to control this feature - even in regions where it's not mandated by regulation. But Google is preparing a new 'Hearing Wellness' menu that will let you control this.

๐Ÿ’ณ Android 16โ€™s new Wallet shortcut is missing on some Pixels, and Google wonโ€™t say why

Though Google confirmed it's limited to the Pixel 8+, it didn't say why it's not available on older Pixels, despite there being no technical limitation.

โšก Palantir for Cars Hits U.S. Hardware Stores

Have you driven to the hardware store recently? If you have, your car may be in a searchable database thanks to Flock cameras. These systems scan every license plate, detect gunshots, and provide live footage to police.

All data feeds into Nova, a Palantir-like search platform where cops can look up things like โ€œbrown SUV with a dented door.โ€

The Electronic Frontier Foundation filed a Freedom of Information Act request and handed the data over to 404.media who first reported on this.

They produced a PDF showing police departments and locations that use Flock cameras, including 171 Home Depot and Loweโ€™s locations across the United States.

I ran the document through OCR, uploaded it to the Internet Archive, and made it searchable (the first page is a bit garbled, but the rest is readabable.) Check to see if your store is on the list:
