This will be my first and final take regarding the Halcyon situation.
This whole thing has been deeply disappointing. It is not just about offender-victim-reversal, but about how it was handled without even contacting me in PM although our previous conversations were always nice and friendly.
Sometime last year, could have been September, I saw the launcher homepage redesign Halcyon did but it was closed source. So I tried to copy it without source which was successful. I kept it private out of respect and asked him if I can use it. Unfortunately he removed the whole conversation in PM but I still have his one message you see below because I was very happy about his decision and shared it in maintainer chat. So the over 100 members in maintainer chat were following everything. No need to lie there.
Months later now after he even open sourced his whole ROM and another ROM copied it already 1:1 btw, he starts a hate campaign about me and spreads lies. Suddenly he has a problem with people using his launcher homepage. And since his ROM is open source now in the meantime I also picked up his About Phone page and shared the idea with the maintainer chat. They brought in some ideas and I implemented them. I even fixed some issues with Specutils. I thought thats what you do with open source. Doing your own changes and contributing. Also for context: He's not even the original author and Specutils is entirely kanged from Fluid. I would say creation level from him is not even worth co-author but anyway. That's maybe just how I handle authorship.
At DerpFest, we have worked incredibly hard to make our ROM stand out from others. We wanted something unique, something people could recognize at a glance. That was never easy. Behind every new feature we created were countless hours of brainstorming, trial and error, And yes, even arguments between our maintainers and myself. But it all came from a place of passion and dedication, because we cared deeply about building something original. Thats also why we never ask for donations.
We also use code from other great projects like Yaap, LMOdroid, risingOS, and many others. We never hid that. But even if cherry-picked from others, we almost always end up modifying the code a bit to fit our purposes better or fix things that weren't fixed by the developer of said feature or commit. That is the difference between borrowing with intention and simply copying what others made to earn donations like Crdroid, EvoX or Bliss.
What frustrates me most is how this situation was handled. No private message, straight going public and sharing in several chats although our previous conversations were always nice and friendly. They allowed people to believe that we were the ones being toxic or jealous. David reached out to him in a shared group because he also speaks Indonesian to find out what's the real issue or just to calm him down. Then he complained about not being listed in thanks list in our readme in org's manifest. As I would update it daily and as any other ROM has such list and mentioning DerpFest although some ROMs have zero own commits but a lot from us.
I even did him the favor and now he comes up with this novel. No idea what else we can do to bring him to his senses apart from medical help.
This is the last time I will speak on this. I have said what I needed to say.

⚡️Hackers Trick You Into Helping Them
SIM swappers can spoof calls and texts to answer security questions meant for you—like who you called last or who called you.
All they need is one urgent-sounding message to get you on the phone—and closer to stealing your number.
The good news? You can shut this down with better habits and better tools.

🚨 Hackers are hijacking WordPress sites with a backdoor hidden in plain sight—inside mu-plugins.
It gives them full admin access, evades detection, and locks out real users.
It looks like a legit plugin—and it auto-activates.
Here’s how it works + how to stop it ↓ https://thehackernews.com/2025/07/hackers-deploy-stealth-backdoor-in.html

🚨 Europol just took down XSS — a top Russian-speaking cybercrime forum with 50,000+ users.
Its admin made €7M running it like a darknet eBay for stolen data and hacking tools.
He’s now in custody after a raid in Kyiv.
