Qualcomm Quietly Launched Two New Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SKU
Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 codename "pineapple" was launched two years back in October 2023 with the Part Number "SM-8650-AB". When the Galaxy S24 series debut in January 2024, it used the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 For galaxy Edition, also called 8 Gen 3 Leading Version or 8+ Gen 3 having SM-8650-AC part number. Then in December 2024, Honor 300 series was launched with the 300 Pro and 300 Ultra packing the 8 Gen 3's SM8650-AA SKU.
Now, Qualcomm has silently listed two new SKU for Snapdragon 8 Gen 3:
1. SM-8650-Q-AA
2. SM-8650-Q-AB
The Q here means "cut cores" which means instead of 8 cores with 1+5+2 config, these Q versions packs 6 cores with 1+4+1 configuration. A Lenovo Tablet with model number "TB710FU" has been spotted at Geekbench with the SM-8650-Q-AA SKU, running at clock speeds:
β’ 1x Cortex-X4@ 3.3GHz
β’ 4x A720@ 2.96GHz
β’ 1x A520@ 2.27GHz
Geekbench 6 scores of Lenovo tablet:
Single-core: 1880
Multi-core: 4716
Information about SM-8650-Q-AB edition remains unknown but it may run at 3.0GHz.
Meanwhile, Snapdragon 8+ Gen 3:
β’ 1x X4@ 3.4GHz
β’ 3x A720@ 3.15GHz
β’ 2x A720@ 2.96GHz
β’ 2x A520@ 2.27GHz
8 Gen 3 speed:
β’ 1x X4@ 3.3GHz
β’ 3x A720@ 3.2GHz
β’ 2x A720@ 3.0GHz
β’ 2x A520@ 2.3GHz
Honor 300 Pro/Ultra 8 Gen 3 (SM-8650-AA):
β’ 1x X4@ 3.0GHz
β’ 5x A720@ 2.95GHz
β’ 2x A720@ 2.0GHz
Thus, there exist 5 SKU's of Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 in a span of 2 years.
Funfact: Nothing was also testing a prototype of the Phone 3 with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. However, they went with Snapdragon 8s gen 4 instead due to cost-cutting & to market that its' a new & latest flagship SoC lol.

Parallelizing SHA256 calculation on FPGA
A few weeks ago, I wrote an article where I developed a hash calculator on an FPGA. Specifically, I implemented an SHA-256 calculator. This module computes the hash of a string (up to 25 bytes) in 68 clock cycles. The design leverages the parallelism of FPGAsβ¦
