🧠 Microsoft introduces Mu — a compact AI model for Windows 11 Settings

🔹 What is Mu?
A 330M-parameter small language model that runs entirely on-device using the Neural Processing Unit (NPU). It powers the new AI agent in Windows Settings, letting users control settings with natural language.

🔹 How it works:
- Built on an encoder–decoder architecture for faster, more efficient responses
- Trained on hundreds of billions of high-quality tokens using NVIDIA A100 GPUs
- Responds at 100+ tokens/sec, optimized for real-time use
- Supports prompts like “make my mouse pointer bigger” or “how to control my PC by voice”
- Designed with hardware-friendly tweaks like weight sharing and quantization for speed and efficiency

🔹 Why it matters:
- Fully local — no cloud needed, ensuring privacy
- Low power, high speed, and seamless integration with Copilot+ PCs
- Available now for Windows Insiders in the Dev Channel

💡 Mu is a leap toward natural, private, and instant AI control of your PC — all from the Settings app.
