🚨 CEO of Telegram Tells All for the First Time After French Arrest

Pavel Durov just spoke publicly for the first time since his surprise arrest in France last year on Tucker Carlson.

He got jumped by the police at the airport, authorities tried to charge him for crimes allegedly committed by users on Telegram including drug trafficking, and distributing child abuse material.

French officials reportedly sent requests directly to Telegram instead of going through proper legal channels—possibly to an address no one monitors. With no response, they moved to detain Pavel.

Durov says Telegram has always complied with lawful data requests and shared info like IPs + phone numbers when required under the Digital Services Act.

Why Do You Need Telegram Premium To Prevent Strangers From Messaging You?

From my latest article on Telegram's CEO Pave Durov.

One thing bothered me about the interview. We do need ask Pavel some hard questions. Why do you have to pay for the ability to prevent spammers from contacting you? Yes - that’s right, you need to pay for Telegram premium to prevent unknown people from sending you messages. 99% of the time - these are scammers preying on people. And most of the spammers use Telegram premium to improve their deliverability. Is Telegram making money of scammers and their victims?

On one hand, I am thankful that Telegram kept a place for dissident voices while most platforms were censoring over the past 4 years. On the other hand, we should demand more from a company that supposedly champions their user’s privacy and freedom.
I can do that for you! Here's a quick summary of the video:
The video investigates the common confusion in India regarding smartphone storage types, specifically UFS 2.2 and UFS 3.1 [00:00]. While UFS 3.1 is theoretically faster and more power-efficient [00:52], real-world tests showed surprising results [01:29].
* App Installation: UFS 2.2 phones performed better, especially with larger apps [02:11].
* Game Downloads & Installation: UFS 3.1 phones, particularly Vivo and Realme, took significantly longer in games like BGMI and COD Mobile [02:21].
* Boot-up & Restart Times: Results varied, with a UFS 2.2 phone sometimes winning and a UFS 3.1 phone performing poorly [02:48].
* App Loading Times: In most cases, UFS 2.2 was faster for common apps like Instagram, Netflix, and Snapchat [02:59].
* File Transfer (On-phone): A UFS 2.2 phone (Nothing) performed the best, while a UFS 3.1 phone (Vivo) was very slow [03:26].
* File Transfer (Phone to PC & Back): UFS 2.2 won this battle in both scenarios [03:36].
* Unzipping Files: A UFS 3.1 phone (Realme) won, but another UFS 3.1 phone (Vivo) was the slowest [03:47].
* Performance with Full Storage (90% capacity): There were no significant differences in performance between UFS 2.2 and UFS 3.1 when storage was nearly full [04:03].
The video concludes that UFS 3.1 is not always better than UFS 2.2 due to:
* Lack of Optimization: Brands need to optimize the faster storage types better for real-world performance, which is often not the case [05:06].
* UMCP (Unified Multi-Chip Package): Some UFS 2.2 phones might be using UMCP, where RAM and storage are combined in one module, leading to better overall efficiency [05:28].
Ultimately, the video emphasizes that the UFS version alone doesn't guarantee better performance; optimization plays a crucial role, similar to camera megapixels or screen types [05:45]. However, brands providing UFS 2.2 in phones above 25,000 rupees is still seen as cost-cutting [06:13].

🚨 130,000 devices. One forgotten service account.

A 2024 botnet attack used stale Microsoft 365 accounts with weak passwords—bypassing MFA silently via legacy auth.

If you're not auditing AD service accounts, you're already exposed.

Not sure how well this works but it's been what the remaining big tech account I have does. Depending on your usage for an email account like this it can be a liability if it's tied to you.

The other day I took my nephew to get a smoothie. While we were checking out the lady at the counter asked for a name for the order. I responded with "David". My nephew looked at me with confusion.

As we walked away I explained that Uncle Derrick values privacy and that there's no reason restaurants need to know your name to make a smoothie for you. I told him about the world before he was born in 2012 and how people used to care about protecting their private information. I said that even though giving a name is "not a big deal" its just one way I flex my privacy muscle and encouraged him to be careful about handing over his personal data while he's playing on his phone.

He responded, "Ok Uncle David", and proceeded to tell me his favorite alias.
