iPhone from employer

I'm about to receive an iPhone from my employer, which I can use as personal smartphone.

I was wondering, how safe will using it be, as in, what sorts of data can the employer finds out about me, and what are some precautions/ best practices I can do to prevent this?

Using Air-Gapped Mobile for Free-OTP

I'm thinking of formatting a mobile phone without any SIM card that was never connected to the internet and just use it for Free OTP for 2-FA, to improve my security

Does that make sense? Is there anything I'm missing here? Any other ideas to achieve this without this hassle?

TripMode 3 vs Little Snitch

Hi. I’m looking for an application that helps me block Mac apps from connecting to the internet (whether outgoing or incoming) As needed, especially when I’m using a hotspot. My search has led me to TripMode 3 and Little Snitch. So far Tripmode is winning after discovering that IDrive is connecting online even though I’m not logged in, something LIttle Snitch didn’t pick up.

Anyway, do you have a recommendation between those 2 apps? Or, do you have another app that does this that you prefer? It doesn’t have to be free if it works, happy to pay for this.

UnShorten Link

Hello

Anyone uses this extension to skip url shortners?

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/unshort-link/

Is it safe to use in terms of data collection?

If not then any alternatives?

Currently use FastFoward but that needs data to be sent to server to be effective.

IT Software on Personal / Work MacBook

Hey all,

I was recommended to reach out to this community with this question. Might be helpful to mention that I’m pretty senior in this business, and my boss knows that I’ve used Mac my whole working life and was happy to buy a new MacBook when mine was experiencing some issues.

It was a gray area where it was purchased to be my working machine but I could use it for my regular laptop as well. I set it up from scratch so there was no weird software or anything like that.

We recently onboarded a 3rd party IT company to assist as our internal team didn’t have the bandwidth to take it on. They are requiring that our entire business install a program to allow them to better solve issues when they arise.

So I’m in a spot where I actually do trust my employer and they didn’t have any weird programs, but this IT business is in the drivers seat with the software.

My question is, can I still use part of my MacBook (maybe setting up 2 users?) personally, without the worry of the 3rd Party IT company accessing my personal files, or if it’s installed, is everything just out there and it’s worth no risk to use personally? I’ve floated the idea of two different users, with a personal user in my Apple account, and a secondary user with a new work Apple ID and the program downloaded there.

For reference, it’s called LTechAgent (?)

DuckDuckGo and AWS

I just learned that DuckDuckGo is hosted on Amazon's servers which is making me consider switching to a different search engine. How does Amazon's hosting affect the privacy of DuckDuckGo? Is Amazon able to keep logs of all searches and user data?

Title.

Are you encrypting everything then view it encrypted? For example, currenly I'm encrypting all my data, and access that with cryptomator, the problem is that pictures takes a lot to load.

All the files are .txt, word excell.

And you, what are you encrypting?

Pixel 5 vs Pixel 6 For Graphene OS

Greetings, Hope all of you in the privacy community are staying safe. I am considering upgrading from my old huawei phone to either pixel 5 or 6 due to the graphene OS support. Is it worth paying around 200 USD extra for Pixel 6? Thank you.
