Is Cookie Auto Delete really needed?

I have the Cookie Auto Delete extension on Firefox but I also have the "Delete cookies and site data when Firefox is closed" setting enabled.

My question is does this Firefox setting makes Cookie Auto Delete a useless extension?

How reliable is OpenWrt?

Have you tried OpenWrt? Is it reliable enough for a daily user? I have had issues with Lineage OS which made the phone more private but also added a bunch of issues that made life harder. Is there risk I might get the a similar experience with OpenWrt?

Update. Obviously I meant installing OpenWrt on a router.

Onionshare not accepting private key

I've been trying out onionshare, and when I use the private key password and enter it, I get an error message that: "Unable to configure Tor with your key"

Yet when I go without a password, it works. Does anyone have advice? This applies to chat, receive, send etc.

I'm sure the key is right, copied to clipboard.

THANKS!!

Do Invidious embeds offer any privacy benefit over YouTube embeds?

Firefox has a number of extensions that replace and redirect certain services to privacy-respecting alternatives. These are great -- I love having YouTube links automatically redirected to FreeTube, for instance.

However, I'm not sure what benefit, if any there is in replacing embedded YouTube videos. When I load an embedded YouTube video Google gets my IP address. Do they get any other information? ETP Strict should keep any cookie cross-contamination at bay, right?

Because by default (videos not proxied), Invidious embeds...would also send my IP address to Google, right? I'm not too worried about my IP address, but I want to make sure I'm not missing any other difference between YouTube and Invidious embeds.

Best Way To Use Burner Phone Numbers - How Many Lines And Do You Recycle?

I have MySudo with 1 phone line.

Is it worth it to get multiple lines? How do you decide which number to use for which website? Do you use 1 number for each type of browsing or split a type of activity across multiple numbers?

Do you you keep the same number forever or do you change numbers frequently like every year?

pCloud as cloud storage?

I cannot self-host my own cloud server right now, so I found pCloud as an option for cloud storage. I need Windows file explorer integration like OneDrive or GDrive, which removed ProtonDrive as an option. I was going to look for Nextcloud hosts, until I found that pCloud has 10 GB free storage. What do you guys think about it, privacy wise?

any good reliable, private and or secure alternatives to Google Docs?

I've been using Google docs for regular everyday note-taking on things I'm learning about, books I've read, courses I've done online etc for several years. I haven't and don't store any sensitive information or personally identifiable info whatsoever, though I know google has some of that on their end and if I'm not mistaken they track you on other sites as well that you visit.

The primary reasons I've been using Google Docs is due to its simplicity, convenience, and because I have unlimited storage under my account because its an educational account that I essentially have for life from an old school I attended several years back. And yes, the privacy terms for the account does state that the administrator of the account (whoever manages it on my old schools end) can access and or view any data I upload to that account, (I know, major red flag).

But yeah TL;DR I wanna make the switch from Google docs to a similar more private and or secure alternative that I can use for everyday note-taking.

Hermit Lite Apps - For Sandboxing Apps On Android

I know webapps from fdroid has been recommended for turning sites into webapps, but what do people here think of Hermit - Lite Apps?

It's not open source but the owner has stated they are not selling data to anyone.

It seems like Hermit is saying they are more secure because they are creating an actual sand box environemnt vs webapps which just manages cookies to make it seem like they are sandbox.

What do people here think of using webapps and PWA vs Apps from the Play Store? Are webapps/PWA much more secure?

Privacy oriented rss feed that I can put my own links and turn them into a rss feed

Hello. I'm not looking for something too feature rich, I don't mind if it has a lot features but not looking for them right now.

I want to be able to copy a link and paste it into an app then be able to read is as a rss feed. If the app has a feature to categorize rss feeds I could enjoy it a bit but if not then that's ok.

Local CDN emulation

I've just become aware of CDN emulators like Decentraleyes and LocalCDN recently, and hope some of you can you can shed some light on the ins and outs of them.

Firefox: As far as I can tell, LocalDNS is the recommended option here. Forked from Decentraleyes, it adds more support and is more up-to-date.
Chromium: For Chromium-based browsers such as Brave it seems things are a bit less clear. LocalCDN doesn't cover as well on Chromium - but is it still recommended over Decentraleyes?
Mobile: Is there any way of achieving local CDN emulation on mobile? Either for iOS or Android?

Feel free to add other aspects if there's something I'm missing!
