Usefulness, privacy and security of redirector/privacy redirect/etc.
Hi,
There have been several mentions of addons like Privacy Redirect or Redirector (or other similar ones) and they got me thinking. Since these addons are supposed to avoid tracking, but tracking is mostly prevented by FPI/dFPI (esp. using Arkenfox), are these addons really useful? Additionally, are there privacy or security concerns to their use?
Thanks!

I've been using the Skip Redirect browser extension for a long time, and I've just discovered Fast Forward. It seems like there's some overlapping functionality, but FastForward may be a little more advanced. Is there a reason to use both together, or should I just stick with one?
Should I simply replace Skip Redirect with FastForward, or will I be missing out on anything by doing so?

Looking to condense the amount of privacy add ons that I use in Firefox
Hi everyone,
I use a lot of privacy tools and I want to condense them into as few apps as possible. I believe that I have a bit of overlap in what I use.
I'm asking because sometimes I'll go to a website like yahoo to read up on stocks and then there's either a twitter embed and that's blocked by one of the add-ons I'm using or my browser in general. It takes time for me to figure out which is preventing an item from loading or blocking traffic. It's not like noScript where I can right click and unblock an element.
Threat Model: Looking to protect my identity and limit ads. I use masked email for my personal email and a secondary number for anything I sign up for.
I'm also open to easy to use replacements with better UIs. My priority is ease of use mixed with great privacy.
Is there a base layer of add ons to achieve basic privacy?
Below is the list:
Facebook Container
uBlock Origin
Privacy Badger
HTTPS Everywhere
Privacy Possum
Decentraleyes
ClearUrls
Cookie AutoDelete
Chameleon
DDG Privacy Essentials
I'm thinking I can reduce the above to
Facebook Container (My friends chat through Messenger so I use this)
uBlock Origin (can ghostery or disconnect handle this and what privacy badger does all in one add on?)
Privacy Badger (I heard you can import privacy badgers block list into uBlock from here: https://www.eff.org/files/cookieblocklist.txt)
HTTPS Everywhere (I love using this)
~~Privacy Possum~~ I prefer privacy badger because it shows me everything it's blocking.
Decentraleyes (I love using this)
ClearUrls (I don't use this much)
Cookie AutoDelete
Chameleon
~~DDG Privacy Essentials~~ I believe uBlock and Privacy Badger does this job already.
Is what I use overkill?

Marketplace for selling used items?
Is there a marketplace to sell used items which has decent privacy? Currently I am using eBay Kleinanzeigen (I'm from Germany) but they want more and more data. First they ask me to accept even more tracking (I can still ignore this diaoog) and now they want my phone number as well.
I am just using it to get rid of some stuff I don't use any more so I don't need a lot of features or options for commercial businesses.

Data sovereignty for a self-sovereign society, the world needs you to become an agent for privacy - Secret Network
Whether Google, Amazon, Facebook or Visa and Paypal they all own the sovereignty over our data.
Yet the data economy in it’s current state is far from fair, the distribution of the spoils is under the control of those who control the data - mostly companies keeping the data to themselves in isolated data silos.
In the future this will no longer be necessary because with the help of privacy-preserving blockchain technology like sercret network, it will be possible to develop a wide range of privacy-preserving applications.
Secret Network is an open-source, permissionless blockchain based on original privacy research and papers first written at MIT in 2015. By combining blockchain technology with groundbreaking privacy technologies, Secret Network unlocks hundreds of new and powerful use cases for Web3 and opens them to all.

Is there a way to subscibe to a patreon anonymously? Germany
Pretty much what the title says, I am primarily looking for a way to do the payments anonymously and legally without connecting it to my bank account/credit card/anything else with my name on it.
I would prefer the method to not be expensive.
Please feel free to direct me to a different subreddit if this is not the right one.

How's FairEmail compared to K-9?
I'm on a situation that I need to check my school Gmail on my phone often (I tried forwarding Gmail but didn't work out well). I've heard good things about K-9 but discovered FairEmail today on the PrivacyGuides website. I'm wondering about your experience.

Bromite vs. Brave (Android)
I'd like to get your thoughts on these two. I'm currently using Bromite but it's not as good at blocking ads and popups like Brave. I've used Brave for quite some time, but I felt like it had unnecessary "features" let's say. Brave did feel more convienent, but I'm looking for the best privacy in my regular browser. I am aware of Tor.

Using Telegram Desktop Without a Phone?
If I install Telegram on my desktop can I use a throwaway phone to verify it and then never have to use or have access to that phone ever again? (While continuing using Telegram from my desktop.)
Also what if someone gains access to that phone number (or a phone number of Telegram's regular users) and tries to take over the account? Hypothetically, what if a nation state gains access to that number to specifically target a user's Telegram account?
I still think it's ridiculous to require a phone number. If there was an option to pay $5 to use an email address instead, I'd buy that in a heart beat.
Also, can a desktop Telegram user hide the phone number they used for verification from everyone?

'Smart homes' and privacy
Hi there,
We know what intelligent home devices are capable of. I would like to turn my home into a 'smart home', but I refuse to buy a Google nest or an Alexa.
What I'm looking for is a something that looks like the devices mentioned above, but without an internet connection. Some more things are a floor sweeper robot that doesn't send a map of your home to the company that made it, being able to turn on the lights or TV with my voice but without being recorded 24/7.
So, with all this, is there any way to achieve getting a 'smart home' without internet?
I am looking forward to your response. Thanks in advance.
