Important Committees in India


• Swaran Singh Committee (1976) - It recommended inclusion of Fundamental Duties. (42nd Constitutional Amendment)

• Mandal Commission (1979) - It recommended that members of OBCs be given 27% reservations for jobs under the Central government and public sector undertakings. The Committee is headed by BP Mandal.

• Sarkaria Commission (1983) - Its charter was to examine the relationship and balance of power between state and central governments. The Commission was headed by Rajinder Singh Sarkaria.

• Dinesh Goswami Committee (1990) - It was formed to make recommendations on Electoral  Reforms.

• Kelkar committee - The committee was set up by India's central government to study and evaluate the public-private partnership (PPP) model in India and it is headed by Vijay Kelkar.

• Malimath Committee Report - The Report deals with Criminal Justice System Reforms. It was constituted by the Ministry of Home Affairs under the chairmanship of Justice V.S. Malimath.

Officially under the Eighth Schedule of the Indian Constitution, The Government of India recognises Six Languages as the Classical languages of India.
