🔹 Rajbhasha Utkrishtta Sammaan 2025-26
Recipient : Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances, Government of India.
Category : Ministries/Departments with fewer than 300 personnel.
• The award recognises outstanding implementation and promotion of the Official Language Hindi.
• It is conferred by the Department of Official Language, Ministry of Home Affairs.

🔹 India-Russia Roundtable on Snow Leopard Conservation
• India participated in the Russian-Indian Roundtable Meeting on Snow Leopard Study and Conservation held in Moscow on 26 August.
• India highlighted its use of population estimation, radio telemetry and genetic analysis for snow leopard conservation.

🔹 African Delegation Studies India’s Digital Land Governance
• A high-level delegation from African countries and UNDP engaged with the Department of Land Resources.
• Discussions focused on India’s Digital Public Infrastructure in land governance, including digitisation and transparent land administration.

🔹 Indian Navy Receives INS Samarthak
Samarthak, the Indian Navy’s first indigenous Multi-Purpose Vessel, was delivered on 27 August.
• Built by Larsen & Toubro at Kattupalli, the vessel has more than 75% indigenous content.
• It will serve as a versatile trial and evaluation platform for naval systems and equipment.

🔹 T-Series Tanks Overhaul Project
• Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav performed the Bhoomi Pujan for the project at Vehicle Factory, Jabalpur.
• Project cost: ₹472 crore.
• It will create capacity to overhaul 80 T-Series tanks annually.
• Vehicle Factory Jabalpur is a unit of Armoured Vehicles Nigam Limited.

🔹 Khelo India Dialogue : Khel Ki Baat, PM Modi Ke Saath
• Prime Minister Narendra Modi participated virtually in the nationwide Khelo India Dialogue.
• The programme was organised ahead of National Sports Day on 29 August.
• It connected athletes and students across 1,500+ educational institutions.
• The Prime Minister highlighted grassroots talent identification, sports infrastructure and India’s long-term sporting ambitions.

🔹 PM Jan Dhan Yojana Completes 12 Years
Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana was launched on 28 August 2014 to promote financial inclusion.
• As of 19 August 2026, 59.09 crore accounts had been opened with deposits of around ₹3.17 lakh crore.
56% of account holders are women, while 78% of accounts are in rural and semi-urban areas.
• More than 41 crore RuPay cards have been issued under the scheme.

🔹 PM SVANidhi
• The restructured PM Street Vendor’s AtmaNirbhar Nidhi Scheme completed one year.
• PM SVANidhi was originally launched on 1 June 2020 to provide collateral-free working capital loans to urban street vendors.
• The restructured scheme focuses on expanded credit access, digital inclusion and livelihood opportunities.

🔹 DAANVEER Initiative
• The Ministry of Panchayati Raj launched DAANVEER to strengthen digital infrastructure in Gram Panchayats through public participation.
• Citizens and organisations can donate computers directly to eligible Gram Panchayats through the Meri Panchayat App.
• The process is designed to be digital, secure and transparent.

🔹 ‘Sankalp Se Siddhi Ka Modi Yug’
• Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan released the book ‘Sankalp Se Siddhi Ka Modi Yug’.
Author : Rajya Sabha MP Ghanshyam Tiwari.
• The book discusses India’s political and developmental journey during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s tenure.

🔹 Inaugural India Kuwait Joint Defence Committee Meeting
• The first India Kuwait Joint Defence Committee, JDC meeting was held in New Delhi.
• It was co-chaired by Amitabh Prasad from India and Brigadier General Raed Alsakran from Kuwait.
• Cooperation areas include military training, exercises, military medicine, staff talks, defence industry and R&D.
• The mechanism operationalises the India Kuwait Defence Cooperation MoU signed in December 2024.

🔹 Prime Minister to Attend 26th SCO Summit
• Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Uzbekistan and Kyrgyz Republic from 29 August to 1 September 2026.
• He will attend the 26th Shanghai Cooperation Organisation Summit in Bishkek on 31 August and 1 September.
• The summit marks the 25th anniversary of the SCO.
• India became a full member of the SCO in 2017.
• India’s priorities at the forum will include Security, Connectivity and Opportunity.

🔹 Gnani Artha Sovereign AI Stack Launched
• Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan launched Gnani Artha at Uprashtrapati Bhavan, New Delhi.
• Developed by GNANI AI, the sovereign AI stack comprises Evon 3.3 and Plexus.
Evon 3.3 is a Large Language Model, while Plexus connects AI intelligence with real-world applications and institutions.

🔹 India’s Nuclear Energy Programme
• India currently operates 24 nuclear power reactors across 7 sites, with an installed capacity of 8.78 GW.
• Nine more reactors are under construction and preparations are underway for another 10 units.
• The Nuclear Energy Mission for Viksit Bharat targets 100 GW of nuclear power capacity by 2047.
• Union Budget 2025 to 26 allocated ₹20,000 crore for indigenous Small Modular Reactors.

🔹 Indian Pharmacopoeia Reference Standards
• Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission launched 7 Indian Pharmacopoeia Phytochemical Reference Standards and 5 Botanical Reference Standards.
• The initiative aims to strengthen scientific standardisation and quality assurance of plant-based medicinal products.

🔹 National Sports Day 2026 Campaign
• National Sports Day 2026 is being observed from 28 to 30 August as a three-day nationwide campaign.
Theme : “Tribute, Play, and Move.”
• National Sports Day commemorates the birth anniversary of hockey legend Major Dhyan Chand on 29 August.
• The campaign promotes sports, fitness and youth participation.

🔹 BSF Women Wrestling and Boxing Competition 2026
• The BSF Inter Command Women Wrestling and Boxing Competition 2026 concluded at Gandhinagar, Gujarat on 28 August.

🔹 India’s Malaria Elimination Progress
• India recorded nearly an 80% decline in malaria cases and deaths between 2015 and 2025.
• Number of high-burden districts declined from 155 to 33.
160 districts reported zero indigenous malaria cases during 2022 to 2025.
• India aims to achieve malaria elimination by 2030.

🔹 PARIVARTAN Scheme
PARIVARTAN stands for Programme for Accelerated Renewal and Incentivization of Vehicle Assets for Reducing Transport Air Pollution and Network Emissions.
• It was approved by the Union Cabinet on 3 June 2026.
• Target: Replace over 2 lakh BS-IV or older trucks and buses in Delhi NCR with BS-VI or stricter compliant or electric vehicles.
• More than 1,300 beneficiaries, 42 banks/NBFCs and 15 automobile OEMs have joined the programme.
🔹 ₹5,000 Crore PRIP Scheme
• Department of Pharmaceuticals announced the second call for applications under the Promotion of Research and Innovation in Pharma and MedTech, PRIP Scheme.
• Scheme outlay: ₹5,000 crore.
• It supports startups, MSMEs and larger companies engaged in pharmaceutical and MedTech research and innovation.

🔹 National Sports Day
• Observed annually on 29 August, the birth anniversary of Major Dhyan Chand.
National Sports Day 2026 campaign theme : “Tribute, Play, and Move.”

🔹 Prime Minister’s Visit to Uzbekistan and Kyrgyz Republic
• Prime Minister Narendra Modi began his visit to Uzbekistan and the Kyrgyz Republic from 29 August to 1 September 2026.
• He is visiting Tashkent on 29 and 30 August at the invitation of Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
• He will subsequently participate in the 26th Shanghai Cooperation Organisation Summit in the Kyrgyz Republic.

🔹 4th India Argentina Joint Trade Committee Meeting
• Commerce Secretary Rajesh Agrawal led the Indian side at the 4th India Argentina Joint Trade Committee meeting held in Buenos Aires.
• Cooperation was discussed in lithium, energy, agriculture, pharmaceuticals, digital technologies, space and other emerging sectors.
• Both sides also discussed improving market access for Indian agricultural and pharmaceutical products.

🔹 National Sports Day Celebrations
• India celebrated National Sports Day on 29 August 2026, marking the 121st birth anniversary of hockey legend Major Dhyan Chand.
• Union Sports Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya led celebrations at the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium, New Delhi.
• The nationwide “Ek Ghanta Khel Ke Maidan Mein” initiative encouraged citizens to devote at least one hour to sports and physical activity.
• The initiative is linked with strengthening the Fit India Movement.

🔹 Per Drop More Crop Scheme
Per Drop More Crop, PDMC, has brought more than 115 lakh hectares under micro irrigation as of July 2026.
• It promotes drip and sprinkler irrigation to improve water use efficiency.
• Financial assistance is 55% for small and marginal farmers and 45% for other farmers, for up to five hectares per beneficiary.
• Since 2022 to 23, PDMC has been implemented under Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana, PM RKVY.

🔹 Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana
PMFBY provides crop insurance against drought, flood, cyclone, pests, diseases, prevented sowing, localised calamities and specified post harvest losses.
• The scheme was launched on 18 February 2016.
• An allocation of ₹12,200 crore has been provided for 2026 to 27.

🔹 Oliy Darajali Do’stlik Order
Award : Oliy Darajali Do’stlik Order, also called the Order of Highest Friendship.
Recipient : Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Field/Category : Contribution to strengthening India Uzbekistan friendship and bilateral relations.
• It is Uzbekistan’s highest honour for foreign leaders and was conferred by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

🔹 India Uzbekistan Summit Talks
• Prime Minister Narendra Modi held talks with Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev in Tashkent during his State Visit from 29 to 30 August 2026.
• India and Uzbekistan elevated their relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
• The two sides concluded agreements covering Ayurveda, mineral resources, higher education, environment, tourism, archives and economic cooperation.

🔹 India Uzbekistan UPI Cooperation
NPCI International Payments Ltd. and Uzbekistan’s National Interbank Processing Centre signed a commercial agreement.
• It will enable Indian UPI applications to scan Uzbekistan’s UZQR for merchant payments.
• India also announced 100 Lal Bahadur Shastri Scholarships for Hindi language and an ICCR Sanskrit Chair at Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies.

🔹 PM SETU Industry Conclave
• Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and the Uttar Pradesh Government organised the PM SETU Industry Conclave in Lucknow.
• The initiative focuses on transforming Industrial Training Institutes into industry linked centres of excellence and bridging the gap between skills and employment.

🔹 BRICS Run & Ride 2026
• Union Sports Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya led the 88th edition of Fit India Sundays on Cycle at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, New Delhi.
• The special National Sports Day edition was organised as BRICS Run & Ride 2026 and simultaneously held at 25,000+ locations across India.

🔹 PM SETU
PM SETU stands for Pradhan Mantri Skilling and Employability Transformation through Upgraded ITIs.
• The scheme aims to modernise ITIs through stronger industry participation and align vocational training with employment requirements.

🔹 One Nation, One Time Initiative
• Under the initiative, a White Rabbit Technology based IST Dissemination Demonstration Network was commissioned at RRSL Bengaluru in July 2026.
• The system can provide precise Indian Standard Time to sectors such as banking, telecom, power, transport and digital governance.

🔹 26th SCO Summit in Bishkek
• Prime Minister Narendra Modi participated in engagements linked to the 26th Shanghai Cooperation Organisation Summit in Bishkek, Kyrgyz Republic.
• On the sidelines, he held bilateral meetings with leaders of Iran, Russia, Armenia and Kyrgyz Republic.
• During talks with Iranian President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian, India reiterated the need for dialogue, diplomacy and freedom of navigation amid tensions in West Asia.

🔹 Bharat Renewable Energy Summit & Expo 2026
• The third regional roadshow for the Bharat Renewable Energy Summit & Expo 2026 was held in Hyderabad.
• The main summit will be organised at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, from 2 to 5 November 2026.
• Theme : “Invest. Innovate. Inspire.”
• It will be held alongside the 9th International Solar Alliance Assembly and the 4th International Conference on Green Hydrogen.

🔹 National Seminar on AI in Homoeopathy
• The National Homoeopathy Research Institute in Mental Health, Kottayam organised a national seminar on the application of Artificial Intelligence in clinical practice and homoeopathy.
• Theme : “Where Intelligence Meets Compassion.”
• Discussions covered AI-enabled clinical decision support, personalised care and ethical use of AI in research.

🔹 INS Nipun Commissioned
• The Indian Navy commissioned INS Nipun, the second Nistar-class Diving Support Vessel, at Naval Dockyard, Mumbai.
• It was indigenously designed and built by Hindustan Shipyard Limited, Visakhapatnam.
• INS Nipun will support deep-sea diving, underwater intervention and submarine rescue operations.
• The commissioning ceremony was presided over by Navy Chief Admiral Krishna Swaminathan.

🔹 IAF International Squash Championship 2026
• The championship commenced at Air Force Station Chandigarh.
• It features six teams, including international teams from the United Kingdom and Sri Lanka.
• The championship will conclude on 4 September 2026.

🔹 National Mission on Interdisciplinary Cyber Physical Systems
• PIB highlighted India’s progress under the National Mission on Interdisciplinary Cyber Physical Systems, NM-ICPS.
• Cyber Physical Systems integrate the physical and digital worlds, enabling intelligent sensing, analysis and automated response.
• The mission supports research through Technology Innovation Hubs and Translation Research Parks.

🔹 India Records 7.8% GDP Growth in Q1 FY 2026-27
• India’s Real GDP grew by 7.8% during April to June 2026.
• Real GDP was estimated at ₹81.36 lakh crore.
Nominal GDP grew by 10.3% to ₹88.27 lakh crore.
Real GVA grew by 8.2%, while nominal GVA increased by 11.5%.
• The GDP series uses 2022-23 as the base year.

🔹 Swachhata Pakhwada 2026
• The Department of Fertilizers will observe Swachhata Pakhwada from 1 to 15 September 2026.
• Special focus this year is on Digital Cleanliness and Record Management, along with physical cleanliness.
• The campaign promotes e-office optimisation, paperless working and better digital data management.

🔹 Revamped Khelo India Scheme
• PIB highlighted the revamped Khelo India Scheme, focusing on sports infrastructure, talent identification, athlete development and international competitiveness.
• It is aligned with Khelo Bharat Niti 2025 and National Education Policy 2020.
