🔹 Indian Navy Receives ASW Ship ‘Mangrol’
• Mangrol, the third Anti Submarine Warfare Shallow Water Craft built by Cochin Shipyard Limited, was delivered to the Indian Navy.
• It has more than 80% indigenous content.
• It is designed for coastal anti submarine warfare, underwater surveillance, mine warfare and low intensity maritime operations.
• The ship is equipped with torpedoes, anti submarine rockets, advanced radars and sonars.
• It is named after Mangrol, a coastal town and port in Gujarat’s Junagadh district.

🔹 Exercise Pitch Black 2026 and Udara Shakti 2026
• The Indian Air Force concluded participation in Exercise Pitch Black 2026 in Australia and Exercise Udara Shakti 2026 in Malaysia.
• Pitch Black was hosted by the Royal Australian Air Force and involved air forces from more than 20 countries.
• India deployed Rafale fighter aircraft.
• Udara Shakti is an India Malaysia air exercise involving the Royal Malaysian Air Force.

🔹 Avathon Physical AI Lab at IIT Roorkee
• IIT Roorkee and Avathon announced plans to establish the Avathon Physical AI Lab.
• The lab will be based in IIT Roorkee’s Department of Computer Science and Engineering.
• Research will focus on Physical AI, autonomous industrial systems, machine learning, optimisation and multi agent systems.

🔹 Restriction on Cold Medicine Combination for Children
• The Government restricted manufacture, sale and distribution of Fixed Dose Combinations containing Chlorpheniramine Maleate + Phenylephrine Hydrochloride for use in children below 4 years.
• Such medicines must carry a clear warning stating that they should not be used in children below four years of age.

🔹 National Animal Disease Control Programme
• NADCP, launched in 2019, aims to control and eradicate Foot and Mouth Disease and Brucellosis through vaccination and surveillance.
• Around 147.16 crore FMD vaccine doses have been administered, benefiting about 8.04 crore farmers.
• Reported FMD outbreaks declined from 132 in 2019 to 40 in 2025.

🔹 BRICS Sports Ministers’ Meeting 2026
• Concluded in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh under India’s BRICS Chairship 2026.
• Member countries adopted the BRICS Sports Joint Declaration by consensus.
• Cooperation areas include athlete and coach exchanges, joint competitions and sports science knowledge sharing.
• India’s BRICS Chairship theme is “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability.”

🔹 LOKAYAN 2026
• Indian Navy’s sail training ship INS Sudarshini arrived in Lisbon, Portugal as part of its Lokayan 2026 transoceanic expedition.
• Lisbon marked its 15th port visit in seven months.
• INS Sudarshini is a three masted barque sail training ship of the Indian Navy.

🔹 Third National Space Day
• The Third National Space Day was celebrated at ISRO’s Space Applications Centre, Ahmedabad.
• Theme: “Towards Viksit Bharat: Innovating, Collaborating and Aspiring to Global Space Leadership.”
• Dr. V. Narayanan is the Secretary, Department of Space and Chairman of ISRO.
• The event highlighted greater private sector participation, innovation and global cooperation in India’s space sector.

🔹 BRICS Friendship Cycling Event
• BRICS Ministers and Heads of Delegations participated in the event at Visakhapatnam.
• It formed part of the 87th edition of Fit India Sundays on Cycle.
🔹 Ahmedabad 2026 World Archery Para Series
• A 29 member Indian Para Archery squad began preparations at the SAI National Centre of Excellence, Gandhinagar.
• The squad is preparing for the Ahmedabad 2026 Hyundai World Archery Para Series.

🔹 National Space Day :- 23 August
• India observes National Space Day every year on 23 August.
• The date commemorates the successful soft landing of Chandrayaan 3’s Vikram lander on the Moon on 23 August 2023.
• 2026 Theme : “Towards Viksit Bharat: Innovating, Collaborating and Aspiring to Global Space Leadership.”

🔹 UNCCD COP17
• Union Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav participated in a side event at the 17th Conference of the Parties to the UN Convention to Combat Desertification, UNCCD COP17, in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.
• India has committed to restoring 26 million hectares of degraded and deforested land by 2030 under the Bonn Challenge.
• India restored 21.76 million hectares during 2011 to 2020, generating around 1.22 billion person days of employment.

🔹 3rd India Cambodia Joint Working Group on Trade and Investment
• The third meeting of the India Cambodia Joint Working Group on Trade and Investment, JWGTI, was held in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
• The mechanism focuses on strengthening bilateral trade, investment and economic cooperation between India and Cambodia.

🔹 Envoys of Six Nations Present Credentials to President
• President Droupadi Murmu accepted credentials from newly appointed envoys of six countries at Rashtrapati Bhavan:
• Sitona Abdalla Osman: South Sudan
• Abdulla Saif Ali Slayem Al Nuaimi: United Arab Emirates
• Muhammad Saidu Dahiru: Nigeria
• Inga Ionesii: Moldova
• Dr. Jasper Wieck: Germany
• Petra Menander: Sweden.

🔹 India’s Land Restoration Progress
• India restored 21.76 million hectares of land between 2011 and 2020.
• The restoration generated approximately 1.22 billion person days of employment.
• India is now preparing its next restoration progress assessment for 2021 to 2025 in collaboration with the ICFRE Centre of Excellence on Sustainable Land Management and IUCN.

🔹 Gems of India
• Ministry of Information and Broadcasting launched the pilot of Gems of India, an initiative to identify and promote digital creators and unique stories from every district.
• It is being implemented through Prasar Bharati’s MyWAVES section on the WAVES OTT platform.
• Pilot regions include Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Arunachal Pradesh, Chandigarh, Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu, Goa and Ladakh.
• National level winning entries can receive prizes of up to ₹5 lakh.

🔹 Upgraded Dak MITRA and Dak Sewa Apps
• India Post launched upgraded Dak MITRA and Dak Sewa applications and inaugurated 14 renovated Post Offices.
• Dak MITRA, expanded as Mobile Interface for Transactions & Rural Assistance, serves more than 1.4 lakh Branch Post Offices and supports paperless postal and financial transactions.
• Dak Sewa provides 24x7 access to services including tracking, booking, complaints and Post Office/PIN code locators.
• Dak Sewa supports 23 Indian languages through BHASHINI.

🔹 World Water Week 2026
• India participated in World Water Week 2026 in Stockholm, Sweden.
• The Ministry of Rural Development showcased India’s community-led water security, technology-enabled governance and sustainable natural resource management initiatives.

🔹 10th Sujal Gram Samvad
• Department of Drinking Water & Sanitation organised the 10th edition of Sujal Gram Samvad.
• It promotes direct interaction with Gram Panchayats and communities on operation and maintenance of rural drinking water systems under Jal Jeevan Mission 2.0.

🔹 Indian Navy to Commission INS Nipun
• Nipun, the second indigenous Nistar-class Diving Support Vessel, will be commissioned on 31 August 2026 at Naval Dockyard, Mumbai.

🔹 DRDO Missile Technology Transfer
• Defence Minister Rajnath Singh approved transfer of DRDO-developed technologies of all conventional missile systems to Indian defence industry.
• The move aims to increase indigenous production, reduce import dependence and strengthen participation of domestic companies and MSMEs.

🔹 ICGS Ajit Handed Over to Indian Coast Guard
• Goa Shipyard Limited delivered the indigenous Fast Patrol Vessel ICGS Ajit to the Indian Coast Guard.
• It has more than 65% indigenous content, a top speed exceeding 27 knots and an endurance of 1,500 nautical miles.
• It will undertake EEZ surveillance, coastal patrol, anti-smuggling, anti-piracy and search and rescue missions.

🔹 Indigenous Gas Turbine Engines Unveiled
• CSIR National Aerospace Laboratories unveiled three indigenous Micro and Small Gas Turbine Engines.
• NJ-05: 5 kg thrust
• NJ-50: 50 kg thrust
• NJ-100: 100 kg thrust
• The engines are aimed at strengthening indigenous aerospace propulsion and unmanned defence capabilities.

🔹 53rd PRAGATI Meeting
• Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired the 53rd PRAGATI Meeting.
• Six infrastructure projects in Railways, Roads and Power sectors across 9 States, involving investment of over ₹30,000 crore, were reviewed.
• PRAGATI stands for Pro-Active Governance and Timely Implementation.
• The Prime Minister also reviewed AgriStack and measures against cyber fraud and “digital arrest”.

🔹 7th India Morocco Joint Commission
• The 7th India Morocco Joint Commission was co-chaired by Jitin Prasada, Minister of State for Commerce and Industry, and Omar Hejira, Morocco’s Secretary of State for Foreign Trade.
• India and Morocco agreed to work towards doubling bilateral trade over the next five years.
• A new Joint Working Group will examine the feasibility of a Preferential Trade Agreement and address tariff and non-tariff barriers.
• The 8th Joint Commission will be held in New Delhi.

🔹 India Seychelles Fisheries Cooperation
• India and Seychelles held a high-level bilateral meeting to strengthen cooperation in fisheries, aquaculture and the Blue Economy.
• The Seychelles delegation was led by Fisheries, Agriculture and Blue Economy Minister Wallace Cosgrow, while India was represented by Fisheries Secretary Dr. Abhilaksh Likhi.

🔹 UNCCD COP17
• India participated in the Ministerial Dialogue on Restoration of Rangelands and the Well-being of Pastoralist Communities at UNCCD COP17 in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.
• India called for community-led restoration with pastoralists treated as custodians of rangelands.

🔹 7th India Vietnam Coast Guard High-Level Meeting
• The meeting was held in Chennai under the 2015 MoU on Coast Guard cooperation.
• It was co-chaired by Indian Coast Guard Director General Paramesh Sivamani and Vietnam Coast Guard Deputy Commandant Major General Luong Dinh Hung.
• The mechanism strengthens maritime security and operational cooperation between the two Coast Guards.

🔹 LOKAYAN 2026
• Indian Navy sail training ship INS Sudarshini concluded its three-day port call at Lisbon, Portugal.
• The visit strengthened professional and training exchanges between the Indian and Portuguese Navies.
• Lisbon and Ponta Delgada were among the Portuguese ports visited during the transoceanic expedition.

🔹 Khelo India Dialogue 2026
• The nationwide Khelo India Dialogue is being organised as part of National Sports Day 2026 celebrations.
• It is being conducted by MY Bharat across colleges in all States and Union Territories.
• The Yuva Samvaad focuses on five themes: Sports, Olympic Aspirations, Youth Leadership, Viksit Bharat and Nasha Mukt Yuva.
• The programme also focuses on scientific talent identification and development of athletes for India’s 2036 Olympic aspirations.

🔹 India Offers Assistance to Flood-Hit Nepal
• Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to Nepal Prime Minister Balendra Shah following severe floods in Nepal.
• India offered all possible humanitarian assistance and coordinated rescue and relief efforts with Nepalese authorities.
• NDRF and local rescue teams in vulnerable India Nepal border areas were also placed on high alert.
🔹 India Morocco Economic Partnership
• Bilateral trade between India and Morocco reached around USD 4 billion in 2025.
• The two countries identified cooperation opportunities in fertilisers, pharmaceuticals, renewable energy, AI, agriculture, mining and automotive sectors.
• India and Morocco will mark 70 years of diplomatic relations in 2027.

🔹 Hutatma Smruti Smarak at Patradevi
• Defence Minister Rajnath Singh inaugurated the redeveloped Hutatma Smruti Smarak at Patradevi, Goa.
• The memorial commemorates Satyagrahis associated with the Goa Liberation Movement against Portuguese rule.

🔹 IICT Netflix Scholarship Initiative
• The Indian Institute of Creative Technologies and Netflix announced scholarships for 100 students.
• Students can receive up to 80% financial support across six professional programmes.
• Courses cover areas including visual effects, animation, virtual art, media technology, interactive comics and e-sports management.

Indian Grandmaster R Praggnanandhaa created history, becoming the first Indian to win the Grand Chess Tour after staging a stunning comeback to defeat defending champion Fabiano Caruana 15-13 in the final at St. Louis in US

Praggnanandhaa started the final day six points behind Caruana but won both rapid games to take the lead.

He then held his ground in the four blitz games to seal a 15-13 victory, claim a 2 lakh dollar first prize and also secure a guaranteed spot in next year’s Grand Chess Tour.

• It is conferred by the Department of Official Language, Ministry of Home Affairs.

🔹 India-Russia Roundtable on Snow Leopard Conservation
• India participated in the Russian-Indian Roundtable Meeting on Snow Leopard Study and Conservation held in Moscow on 26 August.
• India highlighted its use of population estimation, radio telemetry and genetic analysis for snow leopard conservation.

🔹 African Delegation Studies India’s Digital Land Governance
• A high-level delegation from African countries and UNDP engaged with the Department of Land Resources.
• Discussions focused on India’s Digital Public Infrastructure in land governance, including digitisation and transparent land administration.

🔹 Indian Navy Receives INS Samarthak
• Samarthak, the Indian Navy’s first indigenous Multi-Purpose Vessel, was delivered on 27 August.
• Built by Larsen & Toubro at Kattupalli, the vessel has more than 75% indigenous content.
• It will serve as a versatile trial and evaluation platform for naval systems and equipment.

🔹 T-Series Tanks Overhaul Project
• Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav performed the Bhoomi Pujan for the project at Vehicle Factory, Jabalpur.
• Project cost: ₹472 crore.
• It will create capacity to overhaul 80 T-Series tanks annually.
• Vehicle Factory Jabalpur is a unit of Armoured Vehicles Nigam Limited.

🔹 Khelo India Dialogue : Khel Ki Baat, PM Modi Ke Saath
• Prime Minister Narendra Modi participated virtually in the nationwide Khelo India Dialogue.
• The programme was organised ahead of National Sports Day on 29 August.
• It connected athletes and students across 1,500+ educational institutions.
• The Prime Minister highlighted grassroots talent identification, sports infrastructure and India’s long-term sporting ambitions.

🔹 PM Jan Dhan Yojana Completes 12 Years
• Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana was launched on 28 August 2014 to promote financial inclusion.
• As of 19 August 2026, 59.09 crore accounts had been opened with deposits of around ₹3.17 lakh crore.
• 56% of account holders are women, while 78% of accounts are in rural and semi-urban areas.
• More than 41 crore RuPay cards have been issued under the scheme.

🔹 PM SVANidhi
• The restructured PM Street Vendor’s AtmaNirbhar Nidhi Scheme completed one year.
• PM SVANidhi was originally launched on 1 June 2020 to provide collateral-free working capital loans to urban street vendors.
• The restructured scheme focuses on expanded credit access, digital inclusion and livelihood opportunities.

🔹 DAANVEER Initiative
• The Ministry of Panchayati Raj launched DAANVEER to strengthen digital infrastructure in Gram Panchayats through public participation.
• Citizens and organisations can donate computers directly to eligible Gram Panchayats through the Meri Panchayat App.
• The process is designed to be digital, secure and transparent.

🔹 ‘Sankalp Se Siddhi Ka Modi Yug’
• Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan released the book ‘Sankalp Se Siddhi Ka Modi Yug’.
• Author : Rajya Sabha MP Ghanshyam Tiwari.
• The book discusses India’s political and developmental journey during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s tenure.

• Cooperation areas include military training, exercises, military medicine, staff talks, defence industry and R&D.
• The mechanism operationalises the India Kuwait Defence Cooperation MoU signed in December 2024.

🔹 Prime Minister to Attend 26th SCO Summit
• Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Uzbekistan and Kyrgyz Republic from 29 August to 1 September 2026.
• He will attend the 26th Shanghai Cooperation Organisation Summit in Bishkek on 31 August and 1 September.
• The summit marks the 25th anniversary of the SCO.
• India became a full member of the SCO in 2017.
• India’s priorities at the forum will include Security, Connectivity and Opportunity.

🔹 Gnani Artha Sovereign AI Stack Launched
• Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan launched Gnani Artha at Uprashtrapati Bhavan, New Delhi.
• Developed by GNANI AI, the sovereign AI stack comprises Evon 3.3 and Plexus.
• Evon 3.3 is a Large Language Model, while Plexus connects AI intelligence with real-world applications and institutions.

🔹 India’s Nuclear Energy Programme
• India currently operates 24 nuclear power reactors across 7 sites, with an installed capacity of 8.78 GW.
• Nine more reactors are under construction and preparations are underway for another 10 units.
• The Nuclear Energy Mission for Viksit Bharat targets 100 GW of nuclear power capacity by 2047.
• Union Budget 2025 to 26 allocated ₹20,000 crore for indigenous Small Modular Reactors.

🔹 Indian Pharmacopoeia Reference Standards
• Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission launched 7 Indian Pharmacopoeia Phytochemical Reference Standards and 5 Botanical Reference Standards.
• The initiative aims to strengthen scientific standardisation and quality assurance of plant-based medicinal products.

🔹 National Sports Day 2026 Campaign
• National Sports Day 2026 is being observed from 28 to 30 August as a three-day nationwide campaign.
• Theme : “Tribute, Play, and Move.”
• National Sports Day commemorates the birth anniversary of hockey legend Major Dhyan Chand on 29 August.
• The campaign promotes sports, fitness and youth participation.

🔹 BSF Women Wrestling and Boxing Competition 2026
• The BSF Inter Command Women Wrestling and Boxing Competition 2026 concluded at Gandhinagar, Gujarat on 28 August.

🔹 India’s Malaria Elimination Progress
• India recorded nearly an 80% decline in malaria cases and deaths between 2015 and 2025.
• Number of high-burden districts declined from 155 to 33.
• 160 districts reported zero indigenous malaria cases during 2022 to 2025.
• India aims to achieve malaria elimination by 2030.

🔹 PARIVARTAN Scheme
• PARIVARTAN stands for Programme for Accelerated Renewal and Incentivization of Vehicle Assets for Reducing Transport Air Pollution and Network Emissions.
• It was approved by the Union Cabinet on 3 June 2026.
• Target: Replace over 2 lakh BS-IV or older trucks and buses in Delhi NCR with BS-VI or stricter compliant or electric vehicles.
• More than 1,300 beneficiaries, 42 banks/NBFCs and 15 automobile OEMs have joined the programme.
🔹 ₹5,000 Crore PRIP Scheme
• Department of Pharmaceuticals announced the second call for applications under the Promotion of Research and Innovation in Pharma and MedTech, PRIP Scheme.
• Scheme outlay: ₹5,000 crore.
• It supports startups, MSMEs and larger companies engaged in pharmaceutical and MedTech research and innovation.

🔹 National Sports Day
• Observed annually on 29 August, the birth anniversary of Major Dhyan Chand.
• National Sports Day 2026 campaign theme : “Tribute, Play, and Move.”

🔹 Prime Minister’s Visit to Uzbekistan and Kyrgyz Republic
• Prime Minister Narendra Modi began his visit to Uzbekistan and the Kyrgyz Republic from 29 August to 1 September 2026.
• He is visiting Tashkent on 29 and 30 August at the invitation of Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
• He will subsequently participate in the 26th Shanghai Cooperation Organisation Summit in the Kyrgyz Republic.

🔹 4th India Argentina Joint Trade Committee Meeting
• Commerce Secretary Rajesh Agrawal led the Indian side at the 4th India Argentina Joint Trade Committee meeting held in Buenos Aires.
• Cooperation was discussed in lithium, energy, agriculture, pharmaceuticals, digital technologies, space and other emerging sectors.
• Both sides also discussed improving market access for Indian agricultural and pharmaceutical products.

🔹 National Sports Day Celebrations
• India celebrated National Sports Day on 29 August 2026, marking the 121st birth anniversary of hockey legend Major Dhyan Chand.
• Union Sports Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya led celebrations at the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium, New Delhi.
• The nationwide “Ek Ghanta Khel Ke Maidan Mein” initiative encouraged citizens to devote at least one hour to sports and physical activity.
• The initiative is linked with strengthening the Fit India Movement.

🔹 Per Drop More Crop Scheme
• Per Drop More Crop, PDMC, has brought more than 115 lakh hectares under micro irrigation as of July 2026.
• It promotes drip and sprinkler irrigation to improve water use efficiency.
• Financial assistance is 55% for small and marginal farmers and 45% for other farmers, for up to five hectares per beneficiary.
• Since 2022 to 23, PDMC has been implemented under Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana, PM RKVY.

🔹 Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana
• PMFBY provides crop insurance against drought, flood, cyclone, pests, diseases, prevented sowing, localised calamities and specified post harvest losses.
• The scheme was launched on 18 February 2016.
• An allocation of ₹12,200 crore has been provided for 2026 to 27.
