"And as Vespasian drew nigh Rome, all the citizens came forth to meet him. . .Vespasian took displeasure with Agrippa upon the information of certain evil disposed persons that had slandered him, wherefore Vespasian put both him and his son Munabas to death.

This befel three years and a half before the destruction of Jerusalem. Moreover, before this deed, the continual sacrifice ceased for a thousand two hundred and ninety days, as it is written in Daniel Ch. 12. "And from the time that the continual sacrifice shall be taken away, and abomination shall be put into desolation, a thousand two hundred and ninety days."

"But this is it that I marvel most, that ye have read in the Book of Daniel and understand it not, which is now fulfilled in all points, and yet never a one of you doth mark it, the continual sacrifice is already ceased a good while ago, the anointed Priest is cut away and put down. These things, tho' they be most manifest, yet your hearts cannot believe them."

As a Preterist, I often have people ask..

"Well, if Jesus isn't coming back, then what do we have to look forward to?"

The fact that they would even ask this question baffles me.

We have eternity with Christ in heaven to look forward to. Is there anything better?

"So then, if all prophecy has been fulfilled, what am I supposed to do now?"

Folks, God gave us an instruction manual on how to live as citizens of the kingdom of God. It's called the Bible. If you have questions, the answers are in there. God gave you everything you need.

Remember, we are in this world, but we are not of it. We're just passing through.

“The Apocalypse contains prophecies with which the very persons to whom it was sent were immediately concerned. But if none of these prophecies were designed to be completed till long after their death, those persons were not immediately concerned with them, and the author would surely not have said that they were blessed in reading prophecies of which the time was at hand, if those prophecies were not to be fulfilled till after the lapse of many ages.”

- J.D. Michaelis, 1801

"It has been well said that, 'the OT is the NT concealed and the NT is the OT revealed.' The Apostle Paul preached no other things except that which could be found in the Law and Prophets (Acts 24:13-15; 26:22). The NT is not coming up with something new, but rather unfolding the mystery and salvation that was contained in the OT. Jesus is the “yes and amen” to all the promises in the OT scriptures (cf. 2 Cor. 1:20). The OT/OC with all of it’s types and shadows of being blessed and saved “in the land” and through the Temple system typified the spiritual substance of a salvation “in Christ” preached through the NT/NC Temple – the Church."

And when ye shall see Jerusalem compassed with armies, then know that the desolation thereof is nigh. Then let them which are in Judea flee to the mountains; and let them which are in the midst of it depart out; and let not them that are in the countries enter thereinto. For these be the days of vengeance, that ALL THINGS WHICH ARE WRITTEN MAY BE FULFILLED.
Luke 21:20 - 22

then let them which be in Judea flee into the mountains:
Matthew 24:16

And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues. For her sins have reached unto heaven, and God hath remembered her iniquities.
Revelation 18:4 - 5

According to 1 Enoch 10.12, the judgement was to occur seventy generations from Enoch, during which time the angels who sinned against God were to be kept in bonds until the day of consummation, the great judgement in which the age shall be consummated. 16.1-2

It should be noted that according to Luke, who claims to have "traced the course of all things accurately from the first", there are exactly seventy generations from Enoch to Jesus Christ. In other words, it would not have been presumptuous for Jude to claim that 1 Enoch addressed the concerns of the Christians to whom he wrote. The generation of Jesus Christ had not yet passed away. 70 AD was within that context.

"And all these things as types did happen to those persons, and they were written for our admonition, upon whom the end of the ages did come."
1 Corinthians 10:11

"Know ye not that we shall judge angels? how much more things that pertain to this life?" (1 Corinthians 6:3)

THE WOUND THAT WAS HEALED?

Records state that Nero stabbed himself in the neck, but did he actually survive his attempted suicide?

One of the beast’s heads appeared to have been killed, but the lethal wound had been healed. And the whole world followed the beast in amazement. Revelation 13:3

Did you know that there is a good deal of historical evidence implying the fact that Nero may have still been alive after his purported death?

"About this time Achaia and Asia were upset by a false alarm.  It was rumoured that Nero was on his way to them.  There had been conflicting stories about his death, and so numbers of people imagined—and believed—that he was alive.  I shall describe the adventures of the other claimants in their chronological context as my story develops.  On this occasion the man concerned was a slave from Pontus, or, according to other accounts, a freedman from Italy.  The circumstances that he was a harpist and singer by profession when added to a facial resemblance, made the imposture all the more plausible.  He was joined by some army deserters who had been roaming about in destitution until he bribed them to follow him by lavish promises.  With these men he embarked on board ship.  A storm forced him to land on the island of Cythnus, where he recruited some troops returning from the east on leave, or had them murdered when they refused.  He also robbed businessmen and armed the sturdiest of their slaves.  A centurion named Sisenna, representing the army of Syria, happened to be bringing some symbolic ‘hands’ to the praetorians as a token of friendship. He was subjected to a variety of artful approaches, but finally slipped away from the island and fled in fear of his life.  This caused a wave of panic, and many restless or discontented creatures rallied with eagerness to a famous name.  The bubble reputation, daily increasing, was abruptly pricked by one of the chances of history." Tacitus, The Histories, 2.8

This man not only resembled Nero in appearance and actions, but he was also a singer and a harpist.

After having been declared an enemy of the state Cassius Dio indicates that Nero planned to flee and support himself by singing and playing the harp: “Even though we be driven from our empire, yet this little talent [singing and playing harp] shall support us there.”

This imposter even robbed businessmen. One of Nero’s favorite things to do was to disguise himself at night and break into shops and rob them.

"No sooner was twilight over than he would catch up a cap or a wig and go to the taverns or range about the streets playing pranks, which however were very far from harmless; for he used to beat men as they came home from dinner, stabbing any who resisted him and throwing them into the sewers. He would even break into shops and rob them, setting up a market in the Palace, where he divided the booty which he took, sold it at auction, and then squandered the proceeds." Suetonius, Lives of the Twelve Caesars, 6.26

“Even now everyone wishes that Nero were alive and most people actually believe it.” - Dio Chrysostom, 40-112 A.D.

After Nero's purported death, Suetonius says that friends of the former emperor circulated his edicts “pretending he was still alive and would soon return to confound his enemies.”

"In his reign also the False Nero appeared, who was an Asiatic named Terentius Maximus. He resembled Nero both in appearance and in voice (for he too sang to the accompaniment of the lyre). He gained a few followers in Asia, and his advance to the Euphrates attached a far greater number, and finally sought refuge with Artabanus, the Parthian leader, who . . . both received him and set about making preparations to restore him to Rome." - Dio Cassius, 66.19

Suetonius says that this is exactly what Nero planned to do after being declared an enemy of the state: “Nero turned over a number of plans in his mind. For example, he might throw himself on the mercy of the Parthians . . .” - Lives of the Twelve Caesars, 6.47

So, did Nero survive? What do you think?
