When speaking to his disciples, Jesus said that some of them would not die before his return, and that those who had died under the law would be judged (the resurrection of Daniel 12) according to their works.

For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man ACCORDING TO HIS WORKS. Verily I say unto you, There be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom.
(Matthew 16:27 - 28)

And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man ACCORDING TO THEIR WORKS. And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. (Revelation 20:13-13)

We are saved by grace through faith in Christ Jesus, not of works. "There is no condemnation for those who are in Christ."

Hell, Hades, Sheol... was a holding place for those who had died under the law, without a redeemer; those who were to be judged according to their works.

So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory. O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
1 Corinthians 15:54 - 57

Death and hell were defeated at the cross.

Did you know that the word "antichrist" was used only five times by the apostle John in the New Testament, and never refers to one particular individual? John states that antichrist is "already in the world."

• 1 John 2:18 (KJV) “ye have heard that antichrist shall come.”
• 1 John 2:18 (KJV) ” even now are there many antichrists.“
• 1 John 2:22 (KJV) “He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son.”
• 1 John 4:3 (KJV) ” this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.”
• 2 John 1:7 (KJV) “For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist.”

Who was the man of sin? He was a man of “lawlessness” who has no regard for God’s laws (born without the law, a Gentile). This “man of sin” was a “son of perdition” that was born for destruction.

Can you think of a first century ruler who fits this description?

And when ye shall see Jerusalem compassed with armies, then know that the desolation thereof is nigh. Then let them which are in Judea flee to the mountains; and let them which are in the midst of it depart out; and let not them that are in the countries enter thereinto. For these be the days of vengeance, that ALL THINGS WHICH ARE WRITTEN MAY BE FULFILLED.
Luke 21:20 - 22

then let them which be in Judea flee into the mountains:
Matthew 24:16

And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues. For her sins have reached unto heaven, and God hath remembered her iniquities.
Revelation 18:4 - 5
“For behold, the Lord will come in fire and His chariots like the whirlwind, to render His anger with fury, and His rebuke with flames of fire.” Isaiah 66:15

“This will happen when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven in blazing fire with his powerful angels.” 2 Thessalonians 1:7

"And I saw, and behold a white horse: and he that sat on him had a bow; and a crown was given unto him: and he went forth conquering, and to conquer."
Revelation 6:2

"And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war. And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean."
Revelation 19:11, 14

Be sure and read those historic accounts. Fascinating stuff.

The purpose of the Second Coming of Christ was to complete God's redemptive plan for His people. The purpose was to finalize what had to be done for salvation. The Second Coming destroyed the Old Covenant and consummated the New Covenant. If Jesus has not returned yet, then we do not have salvation yet as the Book of Hebrews clearly states.

so Christ was offered once to bear the sins of many. To those who eagerly wait for Him He will appear a second time, apart from sin, for salvation. (Hebrews 9:28)

And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed. (Romans 13:11)

And grieve not the Holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption. (Ephesians 4:30)

who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. (1 Peter 1:5)

Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near. (Luke 21:28)

"And as Vespasian drew nigh Rome, all the citizens came forth to meet him. . .Vespasian took displeasure with Agrippa upon the information of certain evil disposed persons that had slandered him, wherefore Vespasian put both him and his son Munabas to death.

This befel three years and a half before the destruction of Jerusalem. Moreover, before this deed, the continual sacrifice ceased for a thousand two hundred and ninety days, as it is written in Daniel Ch. 12. "And from the time that the continual sacrifice shall be taken away, and abomination shall be put into desolation, a thousand two hundred and ninety days."

"But this is it that I marvel most, that ye have read in the Book of Daniel and understand it not, which is now fulfilled in all points, and yet never a one of you doth mark it, the continual sacrifice is already ceased a good while ago, the anointed Priest is cut away and put down. These things, tho' they be most manifest, yet your hearts cannot believe them."

Apocalypse:

Old English, via Old French and ecclesiastical Latin from Greek apokalupsis, from apokaluptein ‘uncover, reveal’, from apo- ‘un-’ + kaluptein ‘to cover’.

to uncover or reveal (i.e. Revelation)

Daniel was told to seal up the words of the book until the 'time of the end'.

But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end. (Daniel 12:4)

John was told NOT to seal up the words of the book for 'the time is at hand' (the uncovering/revealing of the sealed book of Daniel).

And he saith unto me, seal not the sayings of the prophecy of this book: for the time is at hand.
(Revelation 22:10)
In A.D. 66 at the start of the Jewish revolt, Nero Caesar was in Greece building a canal. Concerning the construction of this canal, Cassius Dio writes..

“When the first workers touched the earth, blood spouted from it, groans and bellowings were heard, and many phantoms appeared. Nero himself thereupon grasped a mattock and by throwing up some of the soil fairly compelled the rest to imitate him.”

In recording this same event, Suetonius indicates that as Nero broke the ground the sound of a trumpet was heard.

"In Achaia he attempted to cut through the Isthmus and called together the praetorians and urged them to begin the work; then at a signal given on a trumpet he was first to break ground with a mattock and to carry off a basketful of earth upon his shoulders."

"..in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed."

1 Corinthians 15:52
One thing today's Christians struggle to understand, is that the Bible is a spiritual (not physical) book from beginning to end. It is about the transition from the old covenant (old heaven and earth), to the new covenant (new heaven and earth).

"For if that first covenant had been faultless, then should no place have been sought for the second. In that he saith, A new covenant, he hath made the first old. Now that which decayeth and waxeth old is ready to vanish away." (Hebrews 8:7, 13)

"For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth: and the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind." (Isaiah 65:17)

"And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away. . . Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God. (Rev 21:1, 3)

"The kingdom of God does not come with observation. . . It is within you!" (Luke 17:20-2)

Jesus is Immanuel, GOD WITH US!

The third oldest Bible in the world features the four Gospels written in Koine Greek. It is known as the Codex Washingtonianus, the Codex Freerianus or the Washington Gospels, and is over 1,600 years old.

What makes this Codex special, is the passage inserted at the end of the gospel of Mark, known as the "Freer Logion".

In this passage, Jesus tells the disciples that the term of years of satan's power has been fulfilled, but that other terrible things draw near.

St. Jerome not only quoted this passage, but also reported that the Freer Logion appeared in the Gospel of Mark after 16:14 “especially in Greek codices.”

The number of these manuscripts that exist today and which are known to contain this interpolation is exactly one: Codex Washingtonianus

"Now is the judgment of this world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out."
(John 12:31)

"Therefore shall Zion for your sake be plowed as a field, and Jerusalem shall become heaps, and the mountain of the house as the high places of the forest." (Micah 3:12)

"And Jesus answering said unto him, Seest thou these great buildings? there shall not be left one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down." (Mark 13:2)

Indeed, not one stone was left upon another. The city was plowed up by Titus, and again, 60 years later, by Hadrian.

And the winepress was trodden outside the city, and blood flowed out of the winepress, as high as the bridles of the horses, to the distance of one thousand six hundred stadia. (Revelation 14:20)

This verse seems to have been literally fulfilled when thousands of fugitives from Gadara were cornered by the Roman army at the Jordan River. For miles along the Jordan, the men of Gadara could not cross the river as a result of a strong current due to recent rainfall. There, the men of Gadara “sustained the darts that were thrown at them as well as the attacks of the horsemen who beat many of them, and pushed them into the current.” (Josephus: Wars of the jews)

The Jordan River is 251 kilometers long which is exactly 1,600 stadia.

Josephus says “And the Jordan could not be passed over, by reason of the dead bodies that were in it, but the lake Asphaltitis [the Dead Sea] was also full of dead bodies, that were carried down into it by the river.”
