🌍 Atmosphere Layers (from Earth upward)
1) Troposphere (0 – 8/18 km)

✅ Lowest layer (closest to Earth)
✅ All weather happens here
✅ Contains 75% of total air + water vapour, dust

📌 Height

Poles: ~8 km

Equator: ~18 km

🔥 Temperature: decreases with height (about 6.5°C per km)

Examples

1)Clouds 🌥

2)Rain 🌧, storms ⛈

3)Winds

Aeroplanes fly in upper troposphere ✈️

2) Stratosphere (18 – 50 km)

✅ Very stable air (no storms)
✅ Contains Ozone layer (O₃) → protects from UV rays
✅ Best layer for flying jets

🔥 Temperature: increases with height (due to ozone absorbing UV)

Ozone layer

1)Jet aircraft ✈️ (because less turbulence)

2)Weather balloons go up

3) Mesosphere (50 – 80 km)

✅ Coldest layer of atmosphere
✅ Meteors burn here due to friction

🔥 Temperature: decreases with height (can go up to -90°C)

2)Very thin air, no planes fly here

4) Thermosphere (80 – 700 km)

✅ Very high temperature (can reach 1500°C+)
